The defect
On certain trucks and truck-tractors equipped with trw pcf steering gears, a crack can occur in the steering gear input shaft.
The risk
It IS possible that a driver could experience a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect the steering gear and replace it if necessary. owner notification IS expected to begin during september 2003. owners should contact freightliner at 1-800-547-0712.
