The defect
Certain sumitomo dunlop motor scooter tires, sizes 150/70-13m 64S SX01 and 130/70-13m 63P SX01 rf, do not comply with the high-speed performance requirement of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 119, new pneumatic tires.
The risk
Tread separation between the top ply and the tread rubber can occur, possibly resulting in a loss of control and a vehicle crash.
The remedy
Sumitomo will notify owners and replace the tires free of charge. the recall began on decemer 17, 2007.
