The defect
On certain low-speed 2, 4, or 6-passenger short, long and long bed xd electric vehicles, an insufficient weld on the hand park lever brake assembly (parking brake) may fail. this failure causes a total loss of parking brake hold.
The risk
A failure of the parking brake will allow the vehicle to roll away if it IS parked on an incline, creating the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy
Gem will replace the parking brake assembly on all affected vehicles. the recall began on november 26, 2007. owners may contact gem at 1-866-764-0616.
