The defect

The involved helmets may fail to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 218, "motorcycle helmets". This IS due to an improper liner used in the helmets.

The remedy

Manufacturer will replace suspect helmets with helmets that meet safety requirements, without charge.
