The defect

The black plastic adaptor may give way if subjected to forces of the type sometimes applied by car owners to free wiper blades frozen to windshields under severe cold and heavy snow and ice conditions.

The remedy

The manufacturer will replace defective windshield wiper blades without charge to owner.
