The defect
Retainer snap ring that secures the pintle hook latch pin may not be properly located and seated.
The risk
Pintle hook could become disengaged from the lunette eyeresulting in separation of the trailing unit from the lead trailer. Separationcould result in a crash.
The remedy
Assure that snap ring IS properly installed bt removing ring, cleaning the machined groove, and reinstalling snap ring.
