The defect
A crack could develop in the fuel filter housing adjacent to the weld which causes fuel leaks.
The risk
The fuel filter IS located in the engine compartment;fuel leaks can result in an underhood fire if exposed to a source of ignition.
The remedy
Replace the defective fuel filters.
