Altec Industries (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 AH75, AH85, and AH100 Aerial Devices manufactured January 10, 2008, to December 31, 2015. The affected units have a hydraulic pressure control valve that may allow the aerial device to move even when not told to do so.
Risk and remedy
Risk
An aerial device that moves unexpectedly increases the risk of injury to the operator.
Remedy
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hydraulic pressure control valves, free of charge. The recall began on March 15, 2016. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-205-991-7733.
Technical service bulletins and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about this vehicle. Ask a dealer for the full document by its number.
10248300Altec has learned that the affected units may have incorrect fittings installed at the lower control station manifold block. Incorrect fittings can allow air into the hydraulic system. The presence of air in the hydraulic system will cause abnormal operation, noise, and damage to the pump.
10226216Altec has learned that on AH75/85/100, AH75A/85A/100A, and HL125 aerial devices built from November 2003 to January 2021, there is potential for the jib rotational positioning pin to disengage when the platform is tilted down 90 degrees or more from the level working position. This is due to the combination of wear to the edges of the jib indexing plate pinning holes during use and vertical clearance in the jib pivot due to manufacturing tolerances. Altec has developed a kit which provides a new jib rotational positioning pin with greater engagement and adds spacers to limit the vertical clearance in the jib pivot, for use if inspection shows it is required.
