Vehicle description: school buses. the emergency door hinges that consist of steel pin fittings and/or lacklubrication can bind from rust and/or corrosion.
Risk and remedy

This could cause difficulty in opening the doors in the event of an emergency.
Remedy
Owners will be provided with a repair kit and installation instructions. the owners can contact an amtran dealer for assistance if they so desire.
Vehicle description: school buses built with code g47aodm outward opening service door and code g47acdc or g47a5dc manual door control. certain clothing articles such as draw strings can become lodged between the control rod clevis and the attachment at the door as a person IS exiting the bus.

If the driver IS unaware of this situation, the entrance door may be closed, capturing the item in the door. death or injury could occur to the person exiting the bus.
Remedy
Owners will be provided with a repair kit and installation instructions.

- 51455Recall 97v-014 - optional handrail mounted forward of entrance door (to right when entering bus) on subject vehicles may have an entanglement hazard located at the lower attatchment point on the handrail and the sidewall of the stepwell - certain small objects may be caught in these areas such as coat tie strings with draw string clips or other objects attatched - should this happen, and the driver does not properly observe the person exiting the bus, the person may exit the bus with the string captured - the door may be closed and the bus moved causing possible injury or death to the passenger exiting the bus - vehicles involved - volunteer and amtran conventional model school buses with handrails mounted forward of entrance door, built from january 1, 1991 through january 20, 1997 - repair procedures - remove and discard the entire handrail - if state of local codes prohibit the removal of the handrail, order and install a rubber spacer (#436496001) at the lower attatchment point of the handrail using the fastener provided - recall 97v014.
