I own a BMW 645ci 2005 convertible I have issues yes isssues with this vechile, first issue IS the infamous idrive that never really worked properly since I purchased the car, it blinks on and off for 30mins then it would magically come on until one day it just didn't come back on this was after a trip to the dealer to get the convertible top lock reprogrammed.. So the car was included in the lawsuit so I takes it to the dealer for the reprogramming and my car came out worst then it went in the idrive never worked to this day which IS 04/16/2018, my top only opens with the passenger side door slightly opened yes the door has to be open for the top to operate... This IS what the dealer told me so I was so confused of what the reprogramming was for ? I need answers and it's nothing I did as a owner I was very to the book when it came to opening my top and operating the idrive and etc... The infamous coolant leak also comes from a defective bimmer pipe that was installed by the makers of the vehicle and we the customers has to pay to repair these issue that occur on 60% if not more of these cars ...

The brake vacuum pump seals are leaking. this ultimately will affect the brake assist and potentially result in failure to stop the vehicle within prescribed stopping distances creating potential for a crash. this problem was identified by the local BMW dealership in highlands ranch denver. oct 1 2010 BMW recalled 198,000 vehicles including V8 and 6 series vehicles for this exact same problem but my vin shows no recall notice however it has the exact same component experiencing the exact same issues and BMW IS refusing to acknowledge that my vehicle should be recalled as for this vin there are no outstanding notifications. I repeat the exact same issue IS being experienced on my vehicle as was the reason for 198,000 vehicles recalled from the notice of oct 1 2010

I was driving on the highway and my BMW 645 fault message displayed (transmission related malfunction, drive moderately). After that, the service engine soon light came on,along with a new fault message that displayed (increased emission). After that, the car speed abruptly went from 60, to (what felt like first gear),then just cut off!! There were cars and trucks all around me,doing the speed limit of 60 or higher, just missing me,while I'm sitting stuck in the middle of the highway!! I proceeded to restart the car,and it started, with no fault messages;no service engine light; and drove fine for a few days, and then did the same thing again!! I took the car to a BMW repair shopped to have the fault codes read, which end up being a long list of codes, that the mechanics could not find the real cause of the issue. So,i had the shop replace my spark plugs; ignition coil; and reset the computer codes. The car drove okay for about a month, and then did the same thing again!! I don't know what to do,this problem could cause me to end up in a serious accident,i am afraid to drive the car!! As of 07/06/2014, my BMW 645 IS often showing false; low oil message; increase emission; transmission malfunction; and clear after turning car off, and restarting the car!! I am so confused about this BMW 645!! *js

Passenger restraint system failure - been doing a little research and it seems like bunch of ppl get this error. I don't think IS normal because my passenger seat IS rarely used and yet I'm getting that error. My car IS in mint condition, never abused and always taken cared of. Last time I was at the dealer they told me that the alternator makes the computer give out that error so I changed the alternator and the passenger restraint system failure error IS still there. I believe that it should be a recall on the 6series models considering that BMW had similar recalls for their 3, 5 and x series models. *tr

- 10150330"Discharged Battery: Energy Diagnosis Must Be Performed. The electrical system of BMW vehicles has been subject to an ongoing development process over the last few years. This has led to increased demands being placed on the battery. This document covers important information for the dealer on how to handle ""discharged battery"" complaints. A discharged battery can have various causes, most of which do not concern the battery itself. A failed battery is often the symptom and not the cause. A fully serviceable battery fails when an electrical component causes the battery to discharge; the battery becomes internally damaged and must be replaced. For more information, refer to www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-42B.htm For this reason, replacing the battery is not usually a permanent repair. The cause of the discharged battery must be analyzed in order to guarantee a proper repair. In order to properly repair the vehicle the first time in the workshop, it is very important that the diagnostic test plans are performed to completion with all results taken into to consideration. The procedure as outlined below contains information that will guide the technician into properly repairing the vehicle and getting paid for a warranty claim. Analysis of FASTA data and repeat repair visit reports indicates that there are many fault codes that are stored in the above vehicles, but they are not diagnosed to identify their root cause. Fault codes that are not diagnosed to find their root cause can lead to a repeat repair visit to the workshop by the customer. Where diagnosis (vehicle or short test) with ISTA has already started, it is important to diagnose the fault code(s) listed below (when they are stored in the vehicle) during the current workshop visit. This will help lead to a reduction in workshop repeat repair visits and higher customer satisfaction.

The vehicle enters the workshop with one or more of the following complaints: * Check Control Message related to battery discharge * No-start condition * Consumer power reduction (reduced blower speed, heated seats operation, etc.) * The following fault codes may be stored in the DME a. 2E8B - Intelligent battery sensor, signal b. 2E8C - Intelligent battery sensor, function c. 2E8D - Intelligent battery sensor, signal transmission d. 2E8E - Intelligent battery sensor, communication CAUSE A faulty battery or IBS sensor (not both) The power management system and IBS in the vehicle cannot determine if the battery needs to be replaced. This is normal operation for all E-Series vehicles because they do not have the Advanced IBS sensor that the F-Series vehicles do. An external battery tester (Midtronics EXP-1000) must be used to determine if the battery needs to be replaced. Energy Diagnosis will not prompt for a battery replacement unless the battery is ""aged."" When energy diagnosis identifies the battery as ""aged,"" it means the amount of energy discharge over the course of the life of the battery has reached its maximum (worn out). In most cases, energy diagnosis states that the battery is OK. This is typically an indication of the current State of Charge (SoC), not the State of Health (SoH). The SoC is defined as the current amount of energy left in the battery (displayed as a percentage). The SoH is defined as an evaluation of the condition of the battery over a period of time (displayed as a percentage). For more information about batteries, refer to Training Manual ST051, ""07 Battery Basics."""

- 10147623This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI B65 05 09 dated July 2009. designates changes to this revision SUBJECT CIC Headunit: Navigation System Road Map Usage. INFORMATION The Car Information Computer (CIC) began replacing the Car Communication Computer (CCC) on vehicles with option 609 in September of 2008. This change affected the navigation system road map data support process and the warranty spare parts processes for the CIC. For the US market, all vehicles come pre-loaded from the factory with the latest navigation system road map database version that was available at the time of vehicle production. Therefore, no physical copy of the navigation system road map data media DVD set or USB stick is placed in these vehicles at the Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC). NOTE: Additionally, all replacement CIC parts come with a pre-loaded version of the current available navigation system road map database installed. A set of DVD copies of the navigation system road map database, CIC NAVI Road Map North America PREMIUM, is shipped to all BMW centers through the automatic tool shipment program with each release of a navigation system road map database. IMPORTANT: Additional copies or earlier NAV road map database versions cannot be ordered individually! Therefore, please take special care to archive the CIC NAV road map DVD sets! The NAV road map data on the DVD set can also be installed into the Network Attached Storage (NAS). From there, it can then be installed onto the CIC in the vehicle, using the Integrated Service Technical Application for Programming (ISTA/P). For installation of the navigation system road map data media DVD set onto the Network Attached Storage (NAS), please contact your ISPI Next Administrator. In addition to this procedure, it is also possible to download the NAV road map data on the DVD set directly to the hard disc drive (HDD) integrated in the CIC by inserting the DVDs one by one into the CIC internal DVD drive.
