Risk
If the circuit board were to overheat, it can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the electric auxiliary water pump, free of charge. Depending on the model, there are currently limited parts available, however not all parts are available at this time. Owners will be notified of the recall beginning June 11, 2018, and will receive a second notification when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at BMW 1-800-525-7417, MINI at 1-866-825-1525, or Rolls-Royce at 1-877-877-3735. Note: BMW recommends that owners park their vehicle outdoors until the recall remedy has been performed.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 750LI. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked next to the house with the engine turned off for approximately one hour before suddenly smoke was present coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact opened the hood and discovered flames coming from the ECM wire harness. The contact used a bucket of water to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire was not determined. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer but no diagnostic service or repairs were performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V521000(Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 160,000.

This is an unsafe product on the road my opinion. Can't imaging if I was drive on freeway, could be a major fatality. Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT 245/45R19XL 102Y BSW, suppose to be run flat. But not exactly I can't barely limping, luckily there was Allen Tires just block away, I was barely limp in, but my rim now womp. I think this products is unsafe on the road.

TL* the contact owns a 2011 BMW 750li. The contact stated that while approaching his vehicle, he noticed melted tar coming from the driver's side rear door handle. The following day the windshield wipers engaged with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed by an authorized BMW dealer. The vehicle was taken to wide world BMW (125 e route 59, spring valley, ny 10977) where it was diagnosed and determined that the door handle and harness cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

The driver side door would not fully latch/close after several attempts, which prevented me form being able to drive the car. Several attempts were made by viewing door latch to make sure there was no obstruction and the latch was positioned correctly. The inside door handle also seemed to be working fine. After waiting on a tow truck to arrive the driver manipulated the same pieces I did, one exception being, he let the window down, and then pushed door close and it latched. I am now scared to drive it since I don't know if it will happen again. I drove it to baron BMW (shawnee mission, kansas) and was told there was noting they could do unless it happened again/stopped working at which point I would need to have it towed. I later learned that a friend (similar car, just a year or two older) had the same issue with her right side passenger door. I checked the recall and don't see that my car has any open recalls. I cannot just wait to see if this IS going to happen again and I do need to be able to drive my car. Please advise. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v248000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. BMW of birmingham (1000 tom williams way, irondale, al) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The failure mileage was 80,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Driver seat belt restaint malfunction warning. this warning came up suddenly. Took to the dealer, they suggested replacing the air bags. Not covered by warranty, looked around a lot of cars have the saem issue, fixed by readjusting the wiring harness, dealer had many issues with recharigng system and replaced many parts uncessay so I am sure the issue IS not related to airbags.

Can cause serious harm or even death while driving, it IS a major issue that needs to be addressed. Car gives a timer, and then shuts down all major functions of the vehicle. Cost to replace hybrid battery causing issue IS monopolized at 10,000 us dollars.

BMW 2011 has only 88,000 miles and both high pressure fuel pumps need to be replaced at a cost of $1400. the car was in motion and said powertrain malfunction, the car slows down on the road which can cause an accident, starts jerking and spitting white smoke. this IS a know problem under sib130215 which states only production dates between jan 2011 and dec 2011. my production date was oct 2010. the same problem exists with many of the N63 engine cars. please take a look at this problem as it seems to be a defect in the engineering of the vehicleand not necessarily the parts. this causes a serious problem when driving on the highway. also, I had to get all my coils and spark plugs changed as well which was not covered in my warranty. this IS also a known problem for these cars. the customer pays too much for these cars to have a totally defective vehicle.

During my car driving on the high way in georgia (december 2015), the car had a hybrid system malfunctioned. This caused all of the warranting lights to come on in the dash and the hybrid battery stop charging. All of the electrical components are powered by the hybrid battery. When the battery was depleted, all of the electronics in the car stop working as I was driving, to my mothers house. The dash would not show my speed (nothing showed on the dashboard), my steering wheel was harder to turn, and there were no lights at all in the car. This IS a safety concern, considering I had my wife and 2-year old child in the vehicle at the time. all of the electronics in the car completely stop working, except for the headlights, engine running, and wiper blades stayed on. during this situation, the vehicle was unsafe to drive, because there was no ABS, stability control, power steering, air bag, or any other electronic safety device. I called BMW of north america and was told that there IS no warranty for the hybrid battery after the manufacturer warranty period (4 years), and there are no aftermarket warranty products that will cover the battery. The hybrid battery IS $10,000. The BMW tech said that the battery was week and should be replaced. This should be a recall item (all of the manufacturers of hybrid vehicles cover their hybrid batteries for a period 6 - 8 years). This item not only affects the safety of the vehicle passengers, but also the ability for the vehicle to be used legally in the united states.

Since new, my car's steering has pulled dangerously to the right, such that my hands must remain on the steering wheel to keep the car driving straight, and if I let go and coast the car veers to the right and into neighboring lanes on a moments notice. four alignments have been performed to the car by two manufacturer authorized dealerships, all of which have not remedied the problem, and have caused the problem to worsen, if anything. This problem does not only affect my model, the 2011 BMW 7 series, but 2010 and 2011 BMW 5 series as well, as there are numerous pages documenting same on internet message boards, to the extent that it appears BMW IS aware of the problem, but that they are returning cars to customers after supposed repairs or after claiming that there are no problems at all by falsifying repair orders - only for the problem to remain, if not worsen. This IS a dangerous predicament that needs to be publicized so people are aware. Please advise at your earliest and please contact me with any questions you may have. The INITIAL NAV enabling code no longer needs to be pre-ordered through the Parts department! When the vehicle is connected to the diagnostic system ISTA to perform PDI/QC1 the step to activate the navigation system (part of Delete Transport Mode) will automatically request the INITIAL NAV enabling code (VIN-specific) without pre-ordering the enabling code. This enabling code will be automatically delivered through ISTA and it then activates the navigation system.
