Rear brakes worn out including rotors at 21,000 miles. rear calipers stick and stay on as if parking brake was engaged. Dealer said its common because of winter. my first vehicle ever to have calipers stick because of winter. funny though this was not an issue in the winter. Only now after I declined to have them fix my brakes and it's 90 f outside. *tr

The contact stated while driving 35 mph the vehicle shut down and all of the lights on the instrumental panel illuminated when the failure occurred. The contact was able to turn the vehicle off for a few minutes and it began to function normally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the dealer advised they are not confident that they might be able to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer stated the failure was not recalled and the contact should wait in the event a recall was issued. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current miles were 31,000.

On may 15, 2011, I was driving back from laplume, pa when all of a sudden I started hearing a loud noise and rumbling, I slowed down with some trouble controlling the vehicle (luckily I was not going the speed limit because of the continuous rain) and as I slowed down it got louder. I thought my engine was about to die. I put on my distress signals, parked on the side of the road (pretty close to the freeway), and my sister got out on the passenger side to check to see if anything was hanging and noticed that the rear passenger tire looked as if it had been blown up. I called for roadside assistance which arrived about an hour later to put the spare tire on. when I got home and checked the last four numbers on the tire for the manufacturer date and it read--1005. which I was informed it meant the tire was manufactured on the tenth week of 2005. my vehicle IS a 2009 vehicle--purchased new in may 2009 from the adventure chrysler dealership in willoughby, ohio. *tr

After parking and locking the vehicle, when I come back to it sometimes the side doors or rear door are open. This has happened more than once in a parking garage at work, in my garage at home, and when the vehicle IS parked on the street. On one occasion, the driver's side sliding door was found open by police in the parking lot of a hotel where I was staying. On two occasions I've found the vehicle's engine running when it was parked inside my closed garage at home. the doors can be opened remotely or the engine started remotely with two successive presses on the appropriate button on the key fob, but I often come back to the van and find these doors open when I have been too far away from the vehicle to activate it with the key fob. because it takes two successive presses within seconds on a single button to open a door with the key fob, the key fob IS not likely the problem. I would like this fixed, but in the interim, I want to disable the ability to open the doors or start the engine remotely until such time as a fix can be found. *tr

Our chrysler town and country IS a 2009. we noticed the brakes started making noise after the vehicle was at the dealership because the air conditioning was not working. the brakes are now starting to grind so we took the vehicle to an independent garage. the mechanic said that he has never seen anything like it. our rear brake hose system IS blown as well as the calipers are shot. he said this seems very odd given the vehicle IS a 2009 and a front wheel drive. it's getting worse and starting to make noise even when the brakes are not in use. *Tr

Approximately three months ago, we started to notice a vibration when using the brakes. Receive a notice from chrysler in july stating some town and country vans brake pads and or rotors may prematurely failed. Car had about 35,500 miles on it when we took it to the chrysler dealer last month to check the brakes. Front and back brake pads had to be replaced, rotors only needed to be turned according to dealer. However, vibration still occurs when braking. *Tr

2009 chrysler town and country. No specific event leading up to failure. The first time I had been driving for only a few minutes and was in a parking lot intersection when the car stopped. The second time I had just gotten off of a major highway and was on a busy in town road at rush hour going 30-40mph. both times, without warning the van just shut down. I had no acceleration, no breaks and minimal steering for a few seconds. after the car shut down, I was able to restart it after a minute with no other problems. the second time that it broke down I do recall that all of the dash lights went on a second or two before I lost steering. it has occurred twice in the last 4-6 weeks. It was not raining or wet either time. I brought the van in to chrysler after the second failure. However, because they could not replicate it losing all power, they did nothing to fix it. a different problem with the electrical part of the windshield wipers (separate problem) was fixed. I am terrified to drive for fear I will not be able to pull of the road in fast traffic next time. With four children, I am terrified to be on a highway or busy road.. *Tr

We had to replace rotors on our 2009 town and country van at 15,000 miles. we started to experience shaking in the front end when braking on the highway at less than 10,000 miles. at that point we were told that brake pads, etc were within normal limits. finally at 15,000 we were told that the rotors needed to be replaced. chrysler IS offering to extend the 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty on the rotors with a $50 or $100 deductible. this appears to be a defective brake rotor and not a warranty issue as chrysler IS stating. worse yet IS that dealers are replacing the rotors with the exact same rotor! I was told by a chrysler representatives that this IS an item that IS expected to experience normal wear and tear and, therefore, subject to limited warranties. in fact the letter that I received about the extended warranty for these rotors stated that "the brake performance IS not affected in any way by this issue." I disagree with this statement and consider it a safety recall matter that IS being mishandled to chrysler's advantage and the customer's disadvantage. *Tr

7/21/2010- brought 2009 chrysler town and country in to dealer for a/c recall and front end shimmy while braking. due to warping on all four rotors, dealer replaces at no charge, thankfully, rear rotors, but only resurfaces front rotors. are the new rear rotors any different than the defective rotors they just replaced? Why even bother resurfacing defective front rotors? dealer then reinstalls existing front and rear pads. called chrysler and based on our vin # , chrysler has not acknowledged any rotor defects with our van. 7700 miles, all four rotors warped, same front rotors resurfaced then put back on the van with old pads all around. no recall, no service bulletin, no acknowledgement from chrysler about any problem, but warped rotors at 7700 miles something IS really wrong here. now the original defective front rotors that have been cut are on the van, waiting to warp again. family member with an earlier model 2009 t & c has received from chrysler a 'warranty extension' on front rotors and pads, but not the rear rotor or pads. chrysler needs to admit bad brakes all around on these vans , and replace the defective front and rear rotors with rotors and pads of higher quality. or IS the issue an improperly designed brake system for these model and year vans ? *Tr

Issue with brakes: I purchased my 2008 town & country van in april 2009 and mileage was 8666. in november, I heard a squeaking sound and took it to two chrysler dealers where they both told me it was the front brakes and rotors and I'D have to have new ones installed and the cost would be around $600.00. my mileage at this time was 13387. I really didn't believe it so I took it to my mechanic where he confirmed it and I was charged $450.00 to have new front brakes installed. currently, I'm experiencing the same problem ' brakes squealing! mileage now IS 18739. chrysler cannot tell me this IS normal so I would like them to either replace the brakes free of charge or have these vehicles recalled due to faulty brakes. who can afford to replace brakes every 4800 miles? you should follow toyota's lead and admit the town & county has issues with its braking system!! there's something wrong ' correct it now! *Tr

I have a 2009 chrysler town & country, that was purchased august 2009. I dropped my car off at the pomoco chrysler dealership in newport news, va around 4:30pm. I have been having problems with my battery going dead since around november. the dealership couldn't figure out what it was, and always told me that they didn't see anything wrong with the vehicle. I later figured out that it seemed to be happening whenever I left the radio or temperature gauge in the on position; so I've been keeping those controls in the off position until I was able to bring it to the dealership again. I went back to the dealership after realizing I left my wallet in the car. after arriving, I was told that the car caught on fire after hours. the car has fire unrepairable fire damage in the engine compartment and smoke damage on the inside to the back. the flames apparently got so high that it blew out three of the front windows! *Tr

The front rotors of my vehicle have to be resurfaced after only 12,500 miles. the service manager told me chrysler had a notice about the rear ones as well and he would take care of those as well. this does not seem like something that should be happening with a brand new vehicle. I am very concerned about this. *Tr
