General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature. The rearview camera coaxial cable connectors may have been crimped improperly, causing the rearview camera to fail or function intermittently.
Risk and remedy
Risk
An inoperative rearview camera can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the coaxial cables, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 18, 2023. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222378380.
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Cruze and Buick LaCrosse, 2018-2020 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, 2019-2020 Buick Encore, Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Acadia, and 2020 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing bolts.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Missing bolts on the start-stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission oil leak and may progress to a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.
Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick Customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The fuel pump's jet nozzle may have a plastic burr remaining from the manufacturing process, possibly causing a blocked nozzle and an insufficient fuel supply to the engine.

Insufficient fuel supply can result in an engine stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump module. The recall began November 16, 2020. UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY HAZARD: General Motors & Cadillac Need to Take Responsibility I am writing this to urge Cadillac and General Motors to address a critical safety issue before someone gets seriously hurt or dies. While driving my 2020 Cadillac XT6 over an overpass in XXX, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical breakdown. Every dash light flared up, and I instantly lost total control—NO steering assist, NO acceleration. Being stranded in a moving vehicle without control on an elevated roadway was terrifying. This car has under 50,000 miles. It is currently on its 6th service visit at Stevens Creek Cadillac and has been sitting in their shop for 3 full weeks with zero answers or progress. I trusted Cadillac again even after my 2006 SRX had to be donated under 150k miles following 2 transmission replacements and endless issues. But experiencing a sudden, total power failure at highway speeds crosses every line. I am fearful to take this vehicle back. I do not feel safe put back behind the wheel. GM and Cadillac really should not sell these vehicles until their electrical issue is safe. I opened a case with GM and they said that the buy back was denied which is insane to me. this vehicle doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it. The contact owns a 2020 Cadillac XT6. The contact stated that while accelerating from a complete stop and driving below 30 MPH, the vehicle shuddered, hesitated, and jerked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with burned transmission fluid and excessive metal shavings inside the fluid. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V668000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone and offered to cover 50 percent of the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was 16,000.

After powertrain warranty expires (70,000 miles), message constantly appears, and coolant thermostat display is BLANK. Results in excess fan usage (lowering fuel consumption), reduced steering assist, aggravation, check engine light. This issue has developed while under warranty, for a practically new car. Unacceptable. An extended warranty should be in effect for model 2020 as well.

Vehicle has a known condition with many same year make and model that could cause the engine coolant thermostat to open at a lower temperature than intended. This condition has occurred. As a result the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light) illuminates and a diagnostic trouble code is set and “steering assistance reduced” appear. The engine cooling fans also run after the engine is switched off. A recent bulletin has been posted to the 2021 Cadillac XT6 but is present in our 2020 as well. Upon calling the dealer our VIN was not on said recall/bulletin.

While driving approximately 15 MPH I noticed a scraping sound and shimmy in the back. I took the car to Capital Cadillac for diagnostic. They found that the tires were separated. I bought the car brand new in 2020 and it has about 21k miles on it. 265/45 R 21 104 V

The Radiator is not functioning, confirmed by a mechanic at a dealership. An engine light did appear to notify me of the problem, however the car has been kept in great condition without accident or cause for the radiator to stop functioning in such a young vehicle.

Moldy smell coming from vents when AC runs. Had engine sprayed with a cleaner, but smell is still there. It is mold on the condenser.

Vehicle has a high-pitched whining noise when cold. Vehicle also has a transmission shutter problem at lower RPM. I do not think the two are related rather than two separate incidences. But cannot be confirmed that they are two separate. Maybe one problem only. I do have video of this happening. Cannot upload a video though.

Transmission shudder at low RPMs. Feels like transmission should down shift sooner, but it shudders and shakes until RPMs get up higher. Does it when RPMs are around the 1500 mark. Vehicle almost seems like it will stall unless you give it more fuel to get RPMs up higher.

The contact owns a 2020 Cadillac XT6. The contact stated while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was restarted from the Cadillac App via phone. The contact stated that during the second failure " The steering assist is reduced drive with care" warning message and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated she called On-Star where she was informed the tire pressure, the engine, and the transmission needed attention. The vehicle was towed to a dealer by AAA where it was diagnosed the camshaft solenoid was faulty, with a present poil leak, along with codes P0014 and P0017. As a result, the parts of the engine and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered the contact a check to purchase a new vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 159,838.

There is a known problem, which Cadillac refuses to recall, regarding a steering assist reduced warning. The warning light disables the air conditioning system and steering assist. When the light comes on, reduced power to the steering system occurs. I took the vehicle in to be serviced, but the service light was off, and Cadillac refused to fix it; intentionally trying to run the timer out on the 5year/70,000 powertrain warranty. It's a known issue, all over the internet. In fact, they recalled several models due to the same problem. "19V-086 / N182182760 Recall Summary If the steering assistance is not available, extra effort would be required to steer the vehicle, and this would increase risk of a crash. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Cadillac CTS, and 2017 Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet Corvette vehicles." I've reset the light several times, and it usually stays off for several days before returning. This sounds like a software problem, but Cadillac has not taken any steps to fix the issue. It is dangerous for any reduction in steering, especially during winter or at highway speed. It's also dangerous to disable air conditioning, as during the summer, the temperature can reach above 140 F inside a vehicle. If a driver were to have a medical event in a parking lot, or fall asleep with the vehicle on while simply waiting for somebody -- while assuming the air conditioner would keep them cool and comfortable -- within 10 minutes the temperature could reach 130+ degrees, and into the 150s in California or Las Vegas. Software should never reduce steering assist, or disable the air conditioner automatically. I would like a recall to be issued regarding this problem. I don't know if they have designed the system to fail right at the warranty or just after, but it certainly appears that way. Please look into the matter. Additionally, the contact stated that she felt heat coming from where her feet were located under the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined the driver's speaker was inoperable due to unknown electrical fault and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, while driving 10 MPH, the contact observed a dripping noise coming from underneath the vehicle. The check oil warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil needed to be changed. Additionally, while driving at 60 MPH she observed condensation on the outside of the windshield. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,753.

I was waiting for a light to change to green and the vehicle shut down because of the auto-stop feature, after a couple of seconds the car turned on again and this message came on "stability track off" and this happened like that like 3 times until I turned off the auto-stop. I took it to the dealer the next day and they scanned it for issue and told me there's nothing wrong with the vehicle.

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer after the contact smelled a burning odor in the interior of the vehicle. The dealer determined that water had damaged several electrical components inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact owns a 2020 Cadillac XT6. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal "popping" sound and seconds later there was a loud bang. The contact pulled over and inspected the vehicle looking for tire damage, then the contact noticed that there was a large concentration of glass on the roof of the vehicle. The contact observed that the rear stationary panel of the panoramic sunroof had disintegrated. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a glass repair shop where the technician advised the contact that there was no evidence of a rock or other object striking the sunroof to cause the glass to shatter. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,500.

While reversing at a downward slope, sudden strong braking will occur. It does not always happen but when it does it is very alarming and loud. I’m guessing something is wrong with the Automatic Emergency Braking system. There is no warning prior to it happening. I fear these occurrences may cause an accident if I’m not wanting to brake at that moment. I have made Michael Hohl Dealership in Carson City NV aware of this issue but they don’t have a remedy for the problem.

The complaints report that the screen for the RVC is black, sometimes with a red…
On July 22, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE22-006) to assess alleged failures of the rear-view camera (RVC) in Model Year (MY) 2020-2021 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The complaints report that the screen for the RVC is black, sometimes with a red triangle and a circle with a line through it. To date, ODI has received a total of 18 complaints and several EWR Field Reports with allegations of the RVC image failing to display when the vehicle is in reverse. The reports have been received over the past 28 months with most occurring with low vehicle mileage.During the investigation, ODI learned incorrect crimping specifications were utilized in the production of the coaxial cable connector. Improper crimping leads to loss of connection between the RVC and dashboard screen that results in failure of the RVC image to display. Failure or malfunction of the RVC image to display results in reduced visibility of the area behind the vehicle. This limited view may lead to an increased risk of incidents resulting in injury and/or property damage while the vehicle is in reverse.The improperly crimped connectors were only present on subject vehicles equipped with the optional RVC surround vision feature (UV2). Vehicles not equipped with the optional RVC surround vision feature were not affected by this failure. On September 28, 2022, General Motors (GM) filed a defect information report (NHTSA number 22V-709) recalling certain MY2020-2021 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with the optional RVC surround vision feature (UV2). GM will replace the coaxial cables with properly crimped connectors.In view of the recall action being taken by GM, ODI is closing this preliminary evaluation.
