Remedy
Honeywell will replace the affected oil filters free of charge. the recall began during november 2007. owners can contact fram customer service toll-free at 1-800-890-2075.

While driving on I-95 in my 1994 chevrolet c2500 with the 6.5 l naturally aspirated diesel, my truck suddenly stalled and I lost all my engine powered components (power steering, brakes, etc.) I pushed on the brake pedal very hard but was barely slowing down. I finally got the truck slowed down enough to get off on the shoulder of the freeway. I then had to sit there for 30 minutes to allow the pump mounted driver to cool down before I could turn around and garage my vehicle. It happened several (5-10) times over the course of a 30 mile trip. I have seen many instances of the same thing happening to other 6.5L diesel owners. This IS unacceptable. Something needs to be done about the pump mounted drivers (pmds) on this engine. They overheat and cause the engine to fail. I will be replacing the pmd on my engine and that will take care of the problem. This could have caused a major accident if I would have needed to brake suddenly while my engine was stalled. It *tr

There IS a recall on the windshield wipers, but the contact's vehicle IS not included in the recall due to vin. the contact called gm, and they told him that he was not included in the recall. Also, spoke with his local dealer, and the dealer informed him of the same thing, he was not included in the recall due to vin. the contact has not had the windshield wipers fixed as of yet.*ak

Windshield wipers do not work sometimes and do at other times. Recently, in a heavy rain on the highway the windshield wipers did not come on when activated. After a minute or two they sometimes come on. Other times they may work perfectly. the chevrolet dealership said there was a recall for my year model and a common problem for this vehicle but my model did not qualify for the repair due to vin. this IS very dangerous situation, and I have had to pull over on occasion, especially when my family IS in the vehicle because I could not see to continue driving. Any help on the situation would be greatly appreciated . *ak

While driving the tread portion of the goodyear load range e tire separated causing the truck to pull to the right, consumer lost control of the vehicle resulting in rollover, one person was ejected (not wearing seat belt) which resulted in fatality and one passenger was injured during accident. tires purchased on may 5, 1996 with only 27,602 miles of wear. I just have to get the batteries recharged enough to get the truck started. just had all 8 glow plugs replaced end of nov 1999 right after the warranty completed.( dot number: ad11c98356 tire size: LT 245/75r )

Front brakes warped. Pads had worn excessively and rotors would overheat & then warp. When brakes were applied, it would cause the vehicle to shimmy & pull. brakes rotors & pads had either been changed or resurfaced at dealership. The back brakes are working fine. *ak

On 5 separate occasions the bolts on the reclining seat back have broken allowing the seat back to recline to the rear on the extended cab model. Bolts first broke when the vehicle was 18 mo. Old with 14000 mi. The fifth break was at 5 years and 75000 mi.

The office of defects investigation has received 375 reports alleging failure of the driver's seat frame which IS prone to breakage at the left front attaching point.when this occurs, the seat may tilt away from the riser during accelerating or braking.(see closing report)
