Certain trucks and sport utility vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 110, "tire selection and rims." these vehicles were shipped with tire and loading information labels listing an inacccurate vehicle capacity weight.
A misprinted label could lead to improper vehicle loading specifications or tire inflation which could result in a tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Owners will be provided with corrected labels and installation instructions. at the customer's option, a dealer can install the label for them. the recall began on march 31, 2006. owners may contact buick at 1-866-608-8080, cadillac at 1-866-982-2339, chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, hummer at 1-800-732-5493, pontiac at 1-800-620-7668, saturn at 1-800-972-8876, or isuzu at 1-800-255-6727.
Certain passenger vehicles may have been built with a power steering hose that IS not to specification. under extreme steering maneuvers, such as turning the steering wheel fully to the left or right while braking, the hose may fracture and leak fluid.
If this were to occur, power steering assist would be lost and increased steering effort would be required. on vehicles equipped with hydro-boost power brakes, it could also result in loss of power brake assist and increased braking effort would be required. if the power steering fluid spray were to spray onto hot engine parts, an engine compartment fire could occur.
Dealers will inspect the power steering hose(s) for two suspect date codes and replace them if required. the recall will begin on october 14, 2005. owners may contact chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, buick at 1-866-608-8080, cadillac at 1-866-982-2339, isuzu at 1-800-255-6727, or hummer at 1-800-732-5493.
On august 18, 2017, I leased-to-own a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer from action auto of tupelo, ms. Around the first week of october of 2018, I had lend said vehicle to my sister. She contacted me saying that the engine was making a knocking noise, and brought the vehicle back to me, where I inspected it while it was stationary. To rule out everything else before I acknowledged the sound of the knock being a severe mechanical failure of the engine, I connected a diagnostic scanner to the can data connector on the 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. In seconds the screen on the scanner was flooded with faults, but then the scanner started beeping, saying that the srs (supplemental restraint system) had been activated. Looking around the vehicle I didn't see any sign of any airbag being deployed, or any seatbelt missing. It wasn't until I checked the connectors coming out of the airbag module that I saw for the first time that the airbags were missing. I informed my insurance provider regarding the issue, which they assumed that the vehicle was in a current accident. In which it was not. After further explanation, they cancelled the insurance as airbag deployment are one of the critical key factors that insurance providers use to determine whether a vechicle IS totaled or not. I contacted action auto of oxford, ms, their main branch I presume, and informed them of the problem and to come and retrieve the vehicle as driving it without insurance IS a violation of mississippi's state's law, and the engine had experienced severe mechanical failure which made it unsafe to drive. Action auto retrieved the vehicle, but stated that I had broke promises in our agreement, and that the vehicle would be auctioned off this year, in which they did. Federal law requires all vehicles made after 1997 are equipped with airbags and title 49 30112 forbids the sell of a non-conforming vehicle.

Takata recall if fluid, such as melted snow containing road salt, enters the driver's door module, it may cause corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or may stop working. the dealership cannot fix the vehicle due to the vehicle being a total loss on march 1 of 2015
Headlights turn off while driving. happens with regularity. headlight relay defective. no replacement part available. gm denies that a recall exists. *tr
" takata recall" gm said my recall had expired on the fuel sensor in 2015..i had it replace twice...2007 and 2009...so many recalls could not remember until going through files and found I did have these replaced
TL* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would stall and shut off without warning. The vehicle would have to be jumpstarted in order to restart. The failure recurred, but the vehicle would not restart. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The mechanic replaced the vehicle's battery, auxiliary water pump, starter, and alternator; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
Both rear parking tail lights does not turn on, while both front parking lights are operational. Brake lights, rear turn signals, reverse lights, doors unlock light are all operational.
The headlights are not working properly. Sometimes the headlights work but other times they turn off. The high beams and marker lights are not affected. This also applies to the daytime running lamps and occurs in motion or at a stop.
My low beam headlights went out which shows it's a relay bad online it shows that there was a recall but in the database it doesn't show up for my vehicle
My driver side seat heated seat short circuited and looks like it caught on fire briefly. my head lamp module went bad and IS recalled but no remedy has been solved, dealership replaced at my expense but I cannot get reimbursement for repair due to remedy not yet available. Recall date was nov 25TH 2015 am I suppose to drive without lights for 13 months. Since I took it too an authorized dealer and they fixed it why cant I get my money? picture IS from the internet but IS actually the same as mine. I do have the defected seat element at my home.
As identified in recall # 14v755000, the low beam headlamps will turn off at random times. This have happened several times during darkness hours and IS increasing. In one case, an accident was barely avoided. I was recently (nov. 13, 2015) told by the gm dealer - the vehicle vin # does not list this as a recall item. ???? Last occurence IS listed below.
As soon as you start vehicle....dash shows that the air bags needs to be services and it stays on the whole time of your journey..when I lift my seat to get correct positioning to drive it starts to have the bell sensor ring, like when you don't your seat belt on....but I have my seat belt on/fastened,,took to mtn view chevrolet/chattanooga, tn...they could not find a reason why and told me no recall on this vin model..so I have decided to issue a complaint before something happens and the air bags do not deploy.. Thank you.. *tr
Ran out of fuel stuck on highway, fuel gauge anomaly, I see that this IS a common problem for gm SUV vehicles form 2006-2009, can put family IS a dangerous situation with children I car at a remote location. Scary....please help us. [Xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr
I am having this issue, for a few weeks now, the key gets locked in the ignition switch, will not turn off, it drain the battery the first day, now I have to disconnect battery, then when it finally locked it did not want to start, I could not start the vehicle for almost two days, and I cannot afford to take it to a mechanic right now. *tr
The coolant line that supplies the rear cooling and heating unit developed a leak. after having the SUV checked out found that he supply line was rubbing against the SUV body and frame. line was not put in properly. patched line with rubber hose to stop leak and to protect from any more rubbing against frame.
Gas gauge stop measuring how much gas was in the tank back in 2012. have had to use the odometer and just keep up with my mileage. could not afford to pay to replace the fuel gauge.
I have bought 2 new batteries with in a month of each other due to my battery being dead over and over again. I was told my alternator was fine only that something keeps draining the life out of my battery.this has been going on for months. If I let the trailblazer sit for 1 to 2 days the battery IS dead again.i also noticed that the face of my radio has started to get hot. When we first had auto zone change the battery we noticed that it caused our air vents to stop working. I looked this up on line and it looks like I'm not the only one who has this problem. I see it's a big problem.i don't know if there IS a recall , but I'm scared it IS a electrical problem that could hurt me and my 4 kids if it happens while driving. Can you please help me with this. *tr
Dear sirs or madam, I am writing to you regarding the recall that was issued for the door switch on above named vehicle. The switch on my vehicle malfunctioned in 2011, before the recall was issued. Later, upon taking the vehicle to wailer chevy in keene, nh, I was informed that there was a recall and I am eligible for a reimbursement of the out of pocket expense of replacing the part. in short, gm initially denied me the reimbursement for superficial reasons. Later after I contacted and filed complaints with the agencies listed below, gm offered and sent a check that covers only the price we paid for the part, but not the labor it took to install it. I have not yet cashed that check, as there IS language on it that indicates the issue would be resolved upon cashing. It IS not resolved. the balance still owed IS $272.18. I was told by some of the agencies listed below that nhtsa was the federal entity responsible for insuring manufacturer compliance with recalls. I'm filing this complaint with nhtsa so that the recall be honored in this case and the balance of the out of pocket expense paid to repair the defect, be reimbursed to me. gm file number: [xxx] eastern michigan bbb complaint number: 10058153 michigan department of state file number:[xxx] ny attorney general file number:[xxx] I also have the supporting documentation (ie. Receipts), that can be forwarded to your office if/when needed. Please feel free to contact me regarding this issue. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr
Auto would start but turn off right away. I was told that the computer module was shorting out and the auto would start on it's own. *tr
The fuel gauge crashed the gas gauge will swing from empty to full on occasion, but usually just stays on low fuel. From what I can tell this IS a common problem in 05-07 trailblazers. Sometimes. *tr
Both rear brake lights failed simultaneously, even after fuses were checked both under the hood and behind the drivers side fuse box (fuse #12 & fuse #34). This IS a road hazard and faulty wiring should be covered. Front left headlight was found to have switch with melted wiring as well, changes by mechanic and I was informed it could have caused a fire. This vehicle has 3 recalls thus far that are extremely dangerous if such faults can cause a fire within the electrical wirings. I would like to get compensated for the work done, the brake lights faulty wiring should be covered under the recall as the local chevy dealer refuses to fix it. *tr
Went to get in my trailblazer and the window switch panel would not work at all!! Took it in and here to find out the panel was smoking and smelled burned!! *tr
I was driving the truck and the fuel gauge was reading that there was gas in the tank. The vehicle died causing loss of power steering and power brakes. I was able to pull the truck to the side of the road with great effort. Had my wife or teenage daughter been driving the outcome might had been very different.after filling the gas tank the gauge went to e and never worked properly afterwards. *tr
The electric seat control panel which IS located on the drivers seat on the lower left side becomes dislodged upon a larger person sitting in the drivers seat. My vehicle had this problem and was taken to a gm garage and the panel was reattached more than once if I remember correctly. The side panel still continues to come off. the dislodging of this panel could cause the seat to move while the vehicle IS in motion unexpectedly repositioning the driver and change the drivers position relative to the steering wheel as well as the brake and gas causing loss of control. *tr
Upon turning the four-wheel drive engaged unknown to me at the time because the selector switch did not indicate this.the truck became difficult if not impossible to turn at low speeds as this vehicle does not have a limited slip differential in the four wheel drive mode. While turning the tires on the outside of the turn make a larger radius than do the inner tires.without any slip the vehicle tries to maintain the same linear footage travel by each tire. This causes the tires to bind lock up and skid during turns. I have researched this problem on internet forums and it seems to be a quite common occurrence and could cause crashes while turning. I have contacted the manufacture and the response was for me to take it to a dealer and pay for them to look at it. I declined their suggestion and offered the compromise of taking it to an independent mechanic at my own cost,to which they declined. please note I did not ask them to repair the vehicle at their cost but only wanted them to examine the vehicle for defective design/material. *tr
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The subject vehicles are model year (MY) 2002-2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2004-2007 Buick Rainier, 2003-2008 Isuzu Ascender, 2005-2009 Saab 9-7X, 2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR, 2005-2009 Buick Lacrosse, and 2006-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. This scope includes the Trailblazer/Envoy variants: 2002-2006 Envoy XL/Trailblazer EXT and 2004-2005 Envoy XUV. The original scope of this investigation was expanded to include all vehicles equipped with the subject Headlight Driver Module (HDM). The focus of the investigation was to determine whether actions performed by General Motors adequately addressed any unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety in the subject vehicles concerning the headlights and the HDM that controls them.Under normal electrical load and environmental conditions, the HDM can overheat inside the Underhood Electrical Center (UEC). This can cause the module to fail and result in a simultaneous loss of both low beam headlights and both daytime running lights (DRLs), often with no warning or prior detectability to the driver. This failure can be intermittent or permanent. No other exterior lights are affected. High beams, turn signals, brake lights, and reverse lights are still operational.General Motors addressed this issue with 2 recalls (14V755 & 15V519) and a special coverage program (N172091910). In view of the recalls and special coverage program implemented by GM and the vehicle high beams continuing to operate, ODI has tentatively concluded that the actions taken by GM mitigate any unreasonable risk to safety posed by HDM failure in the subject vehicles.Accordingly, the investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances. The ODI reports cited above are available for review online at NHTSA.gov under the identification numbers in the attached document.
On August 15, 2012 General Motors (GM) announced a regional recall action (12V-406) involving model year (MY) 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Isuzu Ascender and MY2005-2007 SAAB 9-7x vehicles originally sold or currently registered in the salt belt states of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia. The recall remedy requires the inspection and repair or replacement of the master power window switch, which GM refers to as a driver door module (DDM). At the same time, GM implemented a special coverage program to replace failed DDMs for vehicles registered outside of these states. ODI was not satisfied with GM's exclusion of non-salt belt vehicles and continued its investigation. On June 13, 2013, GM submitted a related recall notification (13V-248) to reclassify the initial special coverage program into a safety recall for vehicles that were not previously repaired under special coverage. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Engineering Analysis EA12-004 on June 11, 2012 to further investigate allegations of DDM thermal incidents in model year (MY) 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. Thermal incidents involve cases where fire-related events such as smoke and melt are present. ODI has received 170 reports alleging a thermal event occurred. Complainants stated that the DDM melted and in some cases produced odor and/or smoke. Fourteen of these incidents led to a fire where visible flames were reported or the damage extended significantly beyond the DDM. In addition to the 170 reports listed above, ODI received 63 reports alleging the DDM acted erratically or became inoperative. In response to ODI's Information Request (IR), GM provided 619 unique consumer complaints that related to the alleged problem. Seventy-seven of those reports led to a fire with flame, and 4 reported injuries of smoke inhalation and/or slight burns from contact with hot switches. GM also submitted 20,400 warranty claims for replacement of the DDM, most of which involved inoperative switches. The problem condition is caused by fluids, such as rain water, entering the driver's door module and subsequently causing corrosion that could result in an electrical short in the printed circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. However, the electrical short may also cause overheating that could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke or in some cases fire with flame. The circuit board was redesigned and GM implemented the new design into vehicle production on May 14, 2007. All failures cited above occurred in vehicles produced before this build date (i.e., with the original design DDM). GM also reported that all MY 2006-2007 GMT360/370 platform vehicles and MY 2005 SAAB 9-7x vehicles utilized the same DDM and therefore ODI expanded the subject population to include these vehicles. This investigation is closed on the basis of GM's announcement of safety recalls 12V-406 and 13V-248. The ODI complaints cited above can be reviewed at: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID, see the attached list for ODI numbers.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation on February 9, 2012 in response to complaints alleging driver door module melting and/or burning in MY 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazers. In response to ODI's Information Request letter, General Motors presented 167 reports and 698 warranty claims that related to the alleged problem. ODI has received a total of 83 complaints, 66 alleging the door module had melted or burned, and the remaining 17 stating that the window switches acted erratically or were inoperative. Twenty-eight of the reports received have led to driver door fires, some of which allege the vehicle was keyed off and unattended. Based on the agency's current analysis, ODI has upgraded its investigation to an Engineering Analysis (EA12-004) to determine whether the subject vehicles contain a defect that presents an unreasonable risk to safety.The vehicle models and production dates of affected vehicles will be evaluated, particularly other GMT360 vehicles. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification (ODI) numbers: 10247838, 10260600, 10274337, 10275626, 10284010, 10396958, 10406203, 10409023, 10414691, 10417938, 10423865, 10426281, 10434446, 10445657, 10447754, 10447757, 10447770, 10447788, 10447813, 10447831, 10447865, 10447880, 10447892, 10447938, 10447994, 10447996, 10447997, 10448028, 10448086, 10448138, 10448176, 10448201, 10448337, 10448455, 10448464, 10448478, 10448540, 10448900, 10448941, 10449150, 10449166, 10449169, 10449236, 10449722, 10450055, 10450202, 10450284, 10451584, 10451878, 10451918, 10452197, 10452301, 10452586, 10452743, 10452895, 10453161, 10453227, 10453261, 10453578, 10453746, 10453951, 10454196, 10454211, 10454539, 10454673, 10455122, 10455150, 10455279, 10455469, 10456285, 10456529, 10457116, 10457644, 10457811, 10458224, 10458485, 10458599, 10458743, 10458846, 10460062, 10460141, 10460732, 10460843
The Office of Defects Investigation has received 668 complaints alleging inaccurate fuel gauge reading while driving in model year 2005-07 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, and Saab 9-7x vehicles.Of the 668 complaints, 58 incidents were alleged to result in a vehicle stall.Of the 58 stalling incidents, 43 complaints reported stalling because the fuel level reading indicated more fuel availability than what is actually in the fuel tank. One complaint alleged a vehicle crash after the vehicle stalled while exiting the interstate, became disabled, and was struck from behind.Summarily, the complaints show an apparent increasing trend, with most complaints received within the past year.A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency and potential safety consequences associated with the alleged defect.
