This 2006 crossfire roadster IS garage kept. The car was parked, when the glass separated on three sides from the cloth convertible top. Failure of the rear window glass appears to be due to lack of attachment, other than adhesive glue. the cloth convertible top IS in good condition. this poses a significant safety hazard to the public, considering the vehicle IS rated at speeds in excess of 150 mph. it appears that chrysler has recalled some 2005 models which have the same type convertible tops and glass windows, made by karmann. As the safety issues continue I would hope that chrysler would recall all of these defective parts before the public IS seriously injured or killed. I await an urgent response from chrysler to fix this hazardous problem me. Please contact me with your best efforts to make this right and keep everyone safe. 2-13-18 disappointed driver in east tennessee

Rear glass of the convertible top falling out, only being held by the window defroster wires. The adhesive in manufacturing gave way. The car IS always garaged and just over 15K miles

Rear glass fell off top while driving. Completely separated. Only 55,000 miles on car and has been garage kept.

Rear glass in convertible top has separated from the fabric. Vehicle has less than 30,000 miles and IS garage kept. vehicle IS not abused and top has only been retracted a total of approximately 15 times so it can not even be attributed to "normal wear and tear". this seems to me to be a manufacturing defect.

Rear glass window falling out of 2006 chrysler crossfire convertable. The corners of the rear window started to separate from the roof material. After putting the top down and putting it back up, most of the top and corners of the rear window were loose from the roof fabric, I called the chrysler dealership to find out how it could be repaired. They told me that a new convertible top would be needed. It could not be repaired. Chrysler dealer quoted $1,650 for the top and $1,000 for labor

While driving my car with the top up my rear window became detached. I took the car into the dealership and they informed me that even though the 2005 crossfire roadster was covered for the same problem they were not covering the 2006. I contacted chrysler directly in july of 2014 they told me the same thing. I then had to make a temporary repair for $ 150 and in september 2014 had to replace the top for $ 2,457.62 at a shop recommended by the chrysler dealership. so I am out of pocket $ 2,607. I contacted chrysler again last week 5 23 2015 and they replied that since my vehicle was not built in 2005 they were still not covering it. This IS a very dangerous problem experienced by numerous drivers. if this window were to come out while driving it could seriously injure or kill a pedestrian or other driver. Chrysler has covered the 2005 for this problem but not later models. You will see over 20 complaints on the safecar.gov site from other drivers with the same complaint same model and year. there are numerous complaints all over the web about the same problem. I guess chrysler and the government wants to wait until people are killed before acting.

I was driving on the freeway with my driver and passenger side windows down when I heard a loud clapping noise coming from the 3RD window (convertible window). the window glue has begun unsticking and the upholstery and glass were coming apart. if not for immediate corrective actions the window could have flown away and into other cars behind me. *tr

The glass rear window to the convertible became disengaged on three sides and started flapping inside the car. took it to the dealer who told me this happens all the time and it cannot be fixed. a new top with a factory installed glass must be purchased and installed. chrysler and the dealer refuse to except any responsibility, and want $2800 for repair. it appears that this problem has happened routinely with this vehicle and no recall has been ordered. if I drive the car the window will eventually disengage completely and possibly become a missile on the highway. It appears the glue that holds the glass to the canvas top IS defective and will not hold. I would welcome contact from chrysler with some assistance in the repair/replacement cost. *tr

The rear glass window on my convertible top became detached from the surrounding material. apparently the glue holding the window on failed. I pulled over and secured it before it flew off and potentially hit another car or pedestrian. this IS a previously know problem with this model for the 2004 and 2005 model years. Chrysler has issued a recall for cars with this problem in certain southern states of which I live in one texas. I contacted chrysler today and they indicated my area was covered but not my model year. I have seen numerous complaints online about this occurring in other 2006 models. This could potentially be an extreme hazard to other autos and pedestrians. *tr

At 70 mph driving on the highway, the rear window separated from the convertible top. scared me to death and not knowing what happened I pushed the brake pedal to stop and almost got rear ended by the car behind me. after a short online research I found the service bulletin tsb 23-035-11 that extends the warranty on the convertible tops to 10 years/100,000 miles to some states mostly southern. however, after contacting chrysler and talking to [xxx] ID [xxx] I was told that there was nothing that chrysler would do about it because the bulletin refers to 2005 models. I told her to escalate the complaint and later I've got a call from a [xxx] pretending she was a supervisor and told me that she never heard of any rear windows separating from the cloth convertible top. I explained to her that this IS a factory defect and there are hundreds if not thousands of people with the same issue, complaining all over the internet about it, but she refused to do anything about it. After suggesting to her to look up the bulletin no tsb 23-035-11 she said there IS no such thing. this IS a serious issue and chrysler has to do something about it before someone dies as a result of these windows separating from the convertible top. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *tr

The rear window on my 2006 crossfire came unglued and fell out. Have talked with chrysler and this IS a major concern on the 2005 crossfires and chrysler has extended the convertible top warranty to 10 year/100,000 miles. The 2006 models are not covered but still suffer the same problem. The convertible tops for all years of crossfires are the same. my concern IS that the top blew out traveling at 40 mph and struck a street sign, what if it struck a car or pedestrian and injured, maimed or killed another person. There IS a major design a flaw with the rear window to canvas top glue and chrysler should be held accountable and offer to fix or replace all convertible tops on the crossfires. *tr

Adhesive holding rear window in place began to separate from convertible top. Other crossfire owners have reported total failure. This IS a significant safety issue if/when the rear window completely separates and detaches from the vehicle and poses a hazard to others i.e., pedestrian, motorcycle riders, etc. All the tops were produced by the same manufacturer (karmann) although chrysler IS only willing to replace certain 2005 models based on the state they were originally sold. This makes no sense, chrysler and the nhtsa should recall all tops produced and replace them with a top with the rear window attached with some type of improved adhesive so the risk to others IS eliminated. *tr

I received a laceration on my left hand index finger while grasping the driver side chrome covered door handle. it appears as though the metallic chrome covering has a seam on the inside of the handle which becomes razor sharp. I have used a layer of clear packing tape over the seam to keep from repeating this incident and will do the passenger side as a preemptive measure. *tr

If the vehicle you are repairing has a crack in the flex plate or failed pump bushing inspect and confirm that both (2) dowel pins are present in the engine block, which align the transmission center line to the crank shaft centerline and visually inspect the dowel alignment holes in the transmission case. If the holes are damaged or elongated the transmission should be replaced to prevent further damage to the transmission/flexplate or pump bushing due to the inability to properly align the engine to the transmission during the repair. 3. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If pump bushing is scored or damaged and the dowel pin alignment holes are ok, replace the pump assembly as opposed to complete transmission. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter.
