We owe a 1999 dodge 1500 quad cab right after the manufacturers warranty went out the dash caved in really bad. We bought one from a junk yard and replaced it however it IS caving in now. The glove box just recently fell out. The overhead box that holds your garage door opener broke. I am just worried about the safety of the dash and airbags. I think a formal investigation needs to be done before someone gets hurt or killed. *Tr

I have a 1999 dodge RAM truck 2500 series 4X4. The dash on this vehicle has totally caved in and fallen on the controls, airbag, fan and wiring. I can't even get to some of the pieces of the plastic. I have read and heard on the radio/tv that this IS a problem that a lot of dodge owners are having it isn't just me. This IS obviously a problem with the materials that dodge IS using in they're plastic and should have a recall on their dashboards. *Tr

Corrosion of brake lines caused one to rupture. dealer states that lines were made of aluminum and were no longer made or supplied from dodge. this was a known problem with some other dodge vehicles (neon). *tr

Recent purchase of 1999 dodge RAM 1500 sport truck. With no force or assistance the dash of the truck cracked once and within seconds another larger crack engulfed the dash. The truck was in the garage when the initial incident happened and the other happened as I stated above seconds later as I backed out of the garage. *tr

I have two 1999 dodge RAM 2500 pickups and both of them have cracked dashes which are about to cave in. I have friend who IS also having the same problem but his dash already caved in and now IS having electrical problems. I have seen countless , newer and older trucks with the same problem. I am wondering if dodge IS working to remedy this problem? *tr

The brakes in the 1999 dodge durango failed while trailing a y boat. I had the truck flat bed to the service station. I was lucky that this happened at the boat ramp so no accident occurred and no one was hurt. I had to have the entire front and rear brake lines replaced. They were completely rotted. I don't think that a truck that IS 8 years old should have brakelines rotted as bad as these were. The mechanic said they were the worst he had ever seen. I had him save some of the old brakeline for me. This IS an extremely dangerous saftey hazard, action should be taken before someone IS badly injured.*ak
- Engine and engine cooling
Oil light came on, limped home and towed it to the garage. they dropped the pan and said the engine needed to be replaced. $4, later we had a new engine. when I went into the shop to see the one they removed it was coated in sludge. now that I had seen all other similar complaints I wonder if dodge was doing anything about he problem. we all want our money back. *ak

The previous recall for ball joints did not include this vehicle which IS a 1999 durango, I had to pay out of pocket to have them replace ball joints in november 2004. When I recently had my vehicle looked over by the dealer, I was told that I need new ball joints again. I don't think I should have been excluded from the initial ball joint recall. obviously my vehicle was showing qualifications.*ak

Since july of 2005, my 1999 dodge durango has been stalling. I have had the vehicle serviced several times at the dodge dealership. The dealer has replaced several parts, but the vehicle continues to stall. In august of 2005, the vehicle stalled while driving, resulting in a crash that left my family stranded and the vehicle in a ditch. On wednesday, september 28, the vehicle stalled while driving to the store. I was able to steer it into a parking lot, but I was almost hit by another vehicle. Now what? The dealer looked at the car, but was not able to pinpoint the cause of the stalling because the vehicle was running at the time. Do I need to wait until there IS a death? Please help my family.*jb

My 1999 dodge durango went into the dealer with less than 100,000 kilometers on it and was diagnosed with 3 ball joints shot and needing replacement. I had my vehicle at the dealership last year and they recommended that I have the upper ball joints replaced. thinking they were just trying to get more money out of me, I did not have the work done. I then heard about the recall of the 2000--- and thought mine should be included. it wasn't and I did not get a sufficient answer from chrysler as to why it wasn't. I wanted data which I found here on this site. before taking my small children on a vacation in the truck, I am having the parts replaced by a private mechanic, whom I trust.

I was driving my 1999 dodge durango when I noticed my brand new front tires were wearing funny. I thought the alignment was bad, took it to get fixed, and found out it was all four of the front ball joints. Now there IS a horrible shaking in the front end, and squeak. I was quoted close to $1000.00 to fix. I know this has been a very common problem among the 1999 year but the recall IS only good for the 2000-2002. I do not have this kind of money to put into something that should be taken care of by the dealers.

In october of 2003 our 1999 durango began making squeaking noises when going over bumps. At the time we only had 56,442 miles on it. we had heard of complaints via television where upper ball joints were the cause of some owners durango's wheels to completely disengage and come off. we had been hearing this noise in our "99 durango for some time, so thought it best for safety purposes to have it checked out at our dealership lithia dodge in eugene, ore. they verified that the upper ball joints were worn prematurely and were in need of replacement. they replaced the uppercontrol arms with ball joint , but were unable to guarantee wear as they replaced them basically with the parts that have now been deemed defective by chrysler corp. we feel that this recall IS not going back far enough. daimler chrysler needs to also include the 1999 dodge durango.*ak
