Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC, 2016-2023 Explorer, 2019-2020 Fusion, 2019-2024 Ranger, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

Remedy
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded blanking plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed December 3, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated December 2026. My 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid experienced repeated 12V battery discharge and “Deep Sleep” events associated with Recall 24C01 and SSM 53801. The vehicle repeatedly discharged the 12V battery while parked under normal conditions. In January 2026, after approximately two weeks parked in freezing temperatures, the battery experienced a complete discharge and the vehicle required multiple jump-starts to remain operational. Ford dealer records later confirmed that the corrective action associated with SSM 53801 had not been applied prior to the failure event despite prior complaints and service visits. The repeated discharge events resulted in failure of both: the original factory battery, and a replacement AGM battery installed at owner expense. This condition created repeated stranded events and loss of vehicle reliability. I am submitting this complaint because the issue appears directly related to documented parasitic drain conditions already acknowledged by Ford in Recall 24C01 and SSM 53801, and because the failure condition persisted before corrective action was finally applied.

During acceleration from 40-60 miles per hour, there was a pronounced vibration/shudder through the front end of the vehicle. After taking it to the dealership, they advised both front axles would need to be replaced. The catastrophic failure of an axle is likely to cause a car crash. The problem has been identified by Ford Motor Company and also confirmed by the Ford Dealership where I got it fixed. Ford Motor Company issued Customer Satisfaction Program 25N09 On September 17, 2025. My vehicle is a 2023 model year, but produced at the same plant and in the same time frame as the the ones mentioned in 25N09. There were no warning lamps or messages about the problem. The only indication was the heavy vibration a few thousand miles prior to getting it looked at.

Vehicle started to have a shake under acceleration. Reported it to multiple dealerships and requested them to specifically observe the CV axles. Finally secured an appointment on 11-24-2025 while vehicle was under factory warranty. Tenvoorde Ford informed me (the owner) that the CV axles were “fine” and a non issue. Shake was still present. Kept driving the vehicle and now, five months later with no factory warranty left on the vehicle, shake still present, and received a second opinion today. CV axle needs replacement. ~68,000 miles on the odometer. I exclusively commute on interstate 94 in central Minnesota, hardly drive in cities. There is no justifiable reason when the vehicle was at the dealership that the CV axle went from being just fine to needing replacement. This is a very common concern with these Ford Mavericks and Ford needs to conduct a recall before people get injured on the public roadways.

The dealer contacted Ford and for opening offered to pay for a portion of the repair leaving me with over $1000 dollars out of pocket.This is a common problem with this vehicle and the Ford escape see Ford TSB 2356B. The vehicle is still under warranty but this is a defective item and should be covered 100% by Ford.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V104000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting); however, parts were unavailable for the recall repair. The contact's husband purchased and replaced the light bulbs lights. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was informed that there was no assistance available. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

CV axle fails prematurely, causing vehicle shaking under acceleration, and potentially unsettling vehicle stability at speed. First noticed the shaking at 49K miles. I have not had an opportunity to schedule an appointment with the dealer to have it replaced yet. This is a known issue on these vehicles that Ford has not acknowledged, with many drivers reporting they need the CV axles replaced ever 30k miles or so.

CV axles are covered under the Ford Powertrain Warranty. I am experiencing a driveline vibration consistent with axle failure. I would like a warranty diagnosis and documentation explaining why this is not considered a warrantable defect. Dealerships are refusing to evaluate a powertrain warranty issue involving driveline vibration consistent with axle failure. The vehicle exhibits driveline vibration under normal operation. That is not normal function and indicates a defect under warranty terms. Powertrain issues with axles present a safety concern. I see Ford has superseded the original NZ6Z axle part numbers to SZ6Z and now PZ6Z revisions. That indicates a known issue with earlier components. My vehicle is exhibiting the exact failure symptoms—this should be evaluated under powertrain warranty.

Dealer replaced battery under warranty and general recall for this issue. A few months later same characteristics started showing up -interior lights not working, only driver's side door operational, etc. This time the warranty had expired and the dealer, along with Ford Motor, told me any repairs would be at my expense, 100%. I feel problem was never resolved, even with replacement battery. Ford and dealer should address this problem. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this battery and electrical issue. After all, there was a full recall for the battery failure. Having no interior lights, unable to enter except driver's side, and other manifestations are inherently unsafe.

Authorized dealer Champaign Ford City provided false information, stating software was current when it was not. This led to a 100% discharge in freezing temperatures, requiring multiple jump-starts to reach the dealer. This discharge destroyed a high-quality owner-purchased AGM battery. Despite Safety Recall 25S02 mandating no-cost battery replacements for these vehicles, the dealer charged me for a Ford battery. The throttle body component of the vehicle failed at approximately 40,000 miles. While this is an engine component that experiences normal wear and tear, throttle body valves fail anywhere between 75,000 and 100,000 miles. I have owned previous vehicles, each crossing the 100,000-mile mark, with no replacement or concern with the throttle body. My concern with this vehicle's throttle body relates to the outdoor weather conditions when the vehicle reported an issue. The outside air temperature was 3 degrees Fahrenheit with moderate winds and a wind chill of approximately -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Researching online, this appears to be a recurrent issue among other owners of this particular vehicle. When started, the vehicle appeared to misfire, potentially entering limp mode. An amber wrench light illuminated, indicating to have the vehicle serviced, and the engine light illuminated, indicating a problem with the emissions system. Additionally, the vehicle pushed a notification to my smartphone that stated the following: "The engine control system has detected the electronic throttle body is not responding as commanded and requires service." The vehicle was turned off and sat for 15 minutes. When the vehicle was restarted, the wrench light turned off, but the engine light remained on, not flashing. The vehicle operated normally, with no misfire. The failure of the throttle body in adversely cold conditions may cause the engine to stall or misfire, decreasing driver control and increasing the potential of a crash. It is of concern that this component seems to have failed early compared to other vehicles currently on the market. I believe the weather to be a contributing factor. The servicing dealership has confirmed that the throttle body must be replaced and has the appropriate part on back order. As this vehicle was not involved in an accident, no police reports or insurance claims have been filed. I plan on reaching out to the manufacturer to address these concerns.

The interface module turned off for a couple seconds and then turned back on which was basically the same problem as it was when I complained and had them replace it.

I believe the OEM 12v battery that is used in the Ford Maverick hybrid is underpowered and has issues that seem to plague the vehicle. I’ve owned the truck for almost two years now and started getting “battery saver” alerts when the truck would sit for a few days over the week or during a vacation. But recently I’ve been getting the warning far more frequently and not even siting for more than 24 hours. Last month I had a warning that the power could turn off at any moment and need to pull over immediately. The warning went away after powering the vehicle down and turning back on. Last weekend the car was completely dead after using it all week and only letting it sit Saturday evening to Monday morning. The battery seems to be an issue that plagues the vehicle and I think an investigation needs to be conducted to have this corrected. I even see new 2025 models having similar issues.

For these vehicles, the rear-view camera may freeze while the vehicle is in reverse.A frozen image can provide false information for the driver, increasing the risk of a crash. As a remedy, dealers will update the CTR software in affected vehicles. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 5 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging frozen rear-view camera images following the remedy of recall 24V684 in a subset population of Maverick and Maverick Hybrid vehicles equipped with the CTR. The complaints report a frozen rear-view camera image while in reverse. Further, ODI is aware of a redacted number of related failures reported to ODI by Ford. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to evaluate the remedy effectiveness and scope of recall 24V684 to fully assess the potential safety-related problems. On January 31, 2024, The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE24002) to investigate loss of motive power allegations in model year (MY) 2021 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. Consumers reported a loss of engine power accompanied by complete electrical system failure either while driving or after stopping at a traffic light or stop sign. The vehicles generally could not be restarted, and the incidents were commonly diagnosed by dealerships to a failed 12-Volt (12V) battery. On April 12, 2024, Ford issued safety recall 24V-267 covering 456,565 MY 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles. The recall addressed loss of motive power resulting from sudden degradation of the 12V battery during the drive cycle. The recall remedy consisted of software updates to the body control module and the powertrain control module. The updated software aimed to provide warning to consumers when the battery is failing and inhibit certain vehicle functions which can lead to loss of motive power incidents. Additionally, Ford removed the existing 12V Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) as both a service component for the subject vehicles and original equipment for newly built Bronco Sport vehicles (during MY 2024 production), replacing it with a more robust absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery. The same AGM battery had been incorporated into Ford Maverick production in late 2022. Following recall 24V-267, ODI received loss of motive power complaints in vehicles that had previously received Ford’s software-based remedy. Consumers reported that they did not receive warnings related to the 12V battery or the vehicle’s electrical system before the loss of power. On November 15, 2024, ODI opened Recall Query (RQ24014) to assess the effectiveness of the 24V-267 recall remedy. On January 19, 2025, Ford issued recall 25V-019 covering 272,817 MY 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles. The new recall addressed the same hazard as 24V-267 but required replacement of the existing 12V battery with an AGM battery as the remedy. Ford reported that following the opening of RQ24014, it evaluated several field-returned 12V batteries, and determined that EFBs produced by battery supplier Camel potentially contained internal manufacturing defects causing loss of motive power. Ford further concluded that the software updates provided in the 24V-267 recall remedy were unable to detect battery failures quickly enough to avoid loss of motive power. Vehicles previously within the scope of recall 24V-267, but outside of the scope of recall 25V-019, are equipped with EFBs produced by a different battery supplier (Clarios). When recall 25V-019 was issued, Ford had not identified any Clarios EFBs exhibiting the same failure mode as the Camel EFBs. In light of Ford’s recall action, ODI is closing this Recall Query. The agency will continue to monitor loss of motive power complaints in Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with Clarios EFBs and reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. The center display screen will reboot. As soon as the vehicle's center display screen displays the boot up logo, immediately reinsert the same universal serial bus (USB) drive that was utilized during the prior failed programming attempt.

If seal damage, water intrusion or corrosion is present, repair per cell 5 of the Wiring Diagram, then apply Motorcraft XG-12 Electrical Grease to the female/vehicle side of the harness. This inspection of ECT3 and ECT4 sensors should be completed prior to starting the appropriate pinpoint test in Section 303-03 of the Workshop Manual (WSM). If DTCs P237F and/or P2C23 do not return, no further action is necessary and the replacement of the entire exhaust heat exchanger assembly is not required. If P237F and/or P2C23 returns, follow the pinpoint test in Section 303-03 of the WSM for further diagnostics.

If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com > Parts and Service > Parts Product Line Information > Keys/Entry Devices > Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.

If there are no messages, run the appropriate diagnosticpinpoint test found in the Workshop Manual (WSM). Follow the steps in the pinpoint test. Make sure to note thetitle of the guided routine, using the correct one for the vehicle's symptom or diagnostic trouble code (DTC) iscritical. Depending on the outcome of the pinpoint test, a repair validation code (RVC) may be generated eitherin the pinpoint test or Guided Routine. If the vehicle concern still exists after following the pinpoint tests orguided routine, then a manual RVC can be generated using the RVC Assist Form. A manual RVC can only begenerated once the above process has been followed.

- 10251952For 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.
- 10251934During service and repair requiring removal and replacement of a crankshaft bolt and/or crankshaft damper, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.

If the vehicle is going into deep sleep outside these conditions, this may be due to the telematics control unit (TCU) software. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the TCU to the latest software. The vehicle may also exhibit DTC U3003:16 and/or U3000:04 stored in the DC/DC converter control module. This may be due to an open in the 300 amp high-current fuse F4 located in the high-current battery junction box (BJB). To correct this condition, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-05 > Pinpoint Test H to verify the 300 amp high-current fuse condition. If the high-current fuse is found to be open, replace the high-current fuse per the application listing in the parts catalog. Recharge and test the 12v battery. For repairs under warranty, use the base part number of the component that caused the damage to the fuse.

Drive for 5 miles (8 km) in stop and go conditions with right and left turns and re-evaluate. If the issue is still present, continue with normal WSM diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 4000.
- 10244876Some 2020-2023 Escape/2021-2023 Corsair equipped with 2.5L engine full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L engine FHEV powertrain may exhibit a condition where the 12V battery voltage is low or discharged with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3003:62 stored in the direct current/direct current converter control module (DC/DC). The vehicle may also exhibit DTC U3003:16 and/or U3000:04 stored in the DC/DC module. This may be due to an open in the 300 amp high-current fuse F4 located in the high-current battery junction box (BJB).
- 10244854Some 2023 Escape/Corsair vehicles built on 6-Apr-2023 and through 11-May-2023 and 2023 Bronco Sport/Maverick vehicles built on 30-Jan-2023 and through 6-Jun-2023 may exhibit an illuminated air bag warning indicator with DTC B0082:1A stored in the restraints control module (RCM). This may be due to an issue with the passenger seatbelt retractor at connector C303B. If a connection issue is found, replace the passenger front seatbelt retractor and pretensioner assembly before attempting a wiring repair. This issue does not affect the proper operation of the air bags, retractor and pretensioner. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-20A Seatbelt Systems > Removal and Installation. For claiming, use causal part 78611B08 and applicable labor times in Section 12 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

This may be due to the software in the powertrain control module (PCM). To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the PCM.
- 10244707Some 2019-2020 Edge/F-150/Fusion/Continental/MKZ/Nautilus, 2019-2021 Mustang/Ranger/Transit Connect, 2020-2021 EcoSport/Escape/Expedition/Explorer/F-Super Duty/Aviator/Corsair/Navigator, 2021 Bronco Sport and 2020-2022 Explorer/Aviator vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience various SYNC performance related concerns. This may be due to the SYNC Software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the SYNC module (APIM) software.
- 10243653Some 2023 Escape, Corsair, Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles built on 01-May-2023 and through 22-Sep-2023 may exhibit a squeal and/or grinding noise and/or vibration from the front brakes while braking. This may be due to excessive wheel hub lateral runout. To correct this condition, remove the front brake disc(s) of the affected wheel(s). Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section, 206-03. Clean the raised ring-like surface of the front wheel hub near the wheel studs. Using a dial indicator, slowly rotate the wheel hub and measure the runout on the ring-like surface. If the total runout exceeds 0.001 inch (0.03mm), replace the wheel hub. Refer to the WSM, Section 204-01. Document the measured run out in the warranty claim. For claiming use the causal part number 1104 and applicable labor operations in Section 01 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS)
