Because this was our third time in for the same problem they put in a new alternator and did not charge us for this. But we once again paid to fix the problem of the car dieing out. ($558.50) did we need a new alternator? My ford winstar IS a 1999. Today (jan. 30, 05) my odometer has 33,000 miles on it. would an alternator not last more thatn 32,000 miles? there IS a technical service bulletin on the p0171 &p0174 problem which it took them 3 times to figure out. It IS covered under the bumper to bumper warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles. my question IS when did this bulletin come out? The one I have IS august 18, 2003. Which at that point my 3 year warranty would have expired.*ak
