I believe my transmission is slipping. I had four events within the last 3-4 weeks. 1) after my car was running for 30 minutes, I started to slowing go up a hill from a stopped position. The car accelerated on its own and I had to slam on the breaks. I was very scarred. I did not see a warning light in dash. 2) I was pulling away from a stopped position after my car was running for 15 minutes. The car would not move and the RPMs went up to four. After five seconds, the car finally moved. 3) the car would barely accelerate after first starting it. After driving a mile, I pulled over and restarted the car. This was the only time I saw the “a” warning light go to “yellow”. 4) after driving a while, the infotainment system went black and the radio volume increased to max. I could not turn the volume down even with the manual controls. After 10 minutes the screen came back but I still didn’t have control of the volume. I pulled over and restarted the car and it fixed the problem. Today, XXX, I went to the dealer (Genesis of [XXX]) and told them all of the above and how scared I was with the acceleration. They set up an appointment for two weeks from now and said it was safe to drive. I do not feel safe driving the car. It is a 2025 Genesis GV70 and under warranty. On XXX, at approximately 10:14 AM, my husband, [XXX], was backing our 2025 Genesis GV70 3.5T Sport out of our garage at [XXX]. He states that the gas pedal felt stuck and that he could not get his foot off the accelerator. The vehicle accelerated in reverse across our driveway, struck our mailbox, crossed the street, struck a Comcast cable box, crossed the grass between two homes, struck landscaping shrubs, and finally struck a tree in a wooded area, where it came to rest (Ocean Township Police Report #XXX my husband's statement that the pedal felt stuck is recorded in that report). Fortunately, no one was injured. There was property damage to the mailbox, the cable box, and a neighbor's landscaping. I requested an investigation from Genesis Motor America (Case #XXX). Genesis inspected the vehicle and downloaded its event data. Its final determination (XXX) states that the data shows the accelerator was fully depressed before the collision and the brake was applied 0.5 seconds before impact at 26 mph, and concludes the accident was not caused by a defect. I am filing this complaint because the determination does not address two safety questions: 1. **The unintended acceleration itself.** My husband's consistent account — given to police at the scene — is that the pedal felt stuck and he could not remove his foot from it. A post-accident inspection finding the pedals working normally does not explain this event. 2. **The reverse automatic braking system.** This vehicle is equipped with Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, which is designed to warn and brake when reversing toward objects at parking speed. The event began at parking speed, in our driveway, with our mailbox directly behind the vehicle. Genesis's determination does not mention this system at all — not whether it was active, not whether it detected anything, and not why it never warned or braked. # XXX INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle has physically and forcibly moved both forward and backward, on its own, after being placed in Park and the engine turned off — including after occupants have exited the vehicle. This movement has struck the driver and two minor children on multiple separate occasions, as well as nearby curbs and objects, without physical injury. No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared before or during these incidents. Because the movement occurs after occupants have exited the vehicle, it is unknown how many additional times this may have occurred unobserved. Dealer states it was unable to duplicate this condition during a test drive. During this same visit, the right front CV axle was found to be leaking grease and had lost lubricant, and required full replacement. Both front horns were also found inoperable/defective due to internal short and were replaced. Neither of these conditions had been previously reported as faulty prior to this visit. Separately, this vehicle has experienced a steering column defect. At approximately 9,000 miles, a steering wheel squeak was reported and a dust cover was replaced. During that same earlier visit, an intermittent loss of acceleration was also reported; the dealer was unable to duplicate this concern and documented the vehicle as “operating as designed.” Weeks after that visit, a knocking noise developed in the steering column. At approximately 10,000 miles, a technician found a structural through-bolt in the steering column not torqued to manufacturer specification and corrected it. Dealer advised in writing that this defect was likely present at the time of manufacture. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized dealer on multiple occasions for these concerns. The owner has repeatedly requested, in writing, a detailed explanation of what was diagnosed, what was repaired, and the underlying cause of the movement, the axle failure, and the horn failure, and has not received a substantive written response as of this filing

This supplements my prior complaint, ODI #11751961, for the same vehicle. Following that complaint, an authorized dealer performed front camera and front radar ADAS calibration on 7/21/2026 and returned the vehicle as operating as designed; the manufacturer's representative confirmed in writing on 7/22/2026 that the camera had been within specification. On 7/23/2026, approximately 1:21–1:35 PM, driving in the left lane of a divided parkway with a concrete median barrier, with HDA2 and Lane Following Assist both active and indicating green, the steering wheel turned the vehicle toward the concrete barrier at least seven times, requiring manual correction each time. This occurred both with a lead vehicle approximately 4 seconds ahead and with no vehicle within more than 10 seconds ahead. Earlier the same day, driving the opposite direction with both systems active and green, the vehicle applied hard automatic braking twice with no vehicle within more than 10 seconds ahead (traffic present only in the adjacent lane); I had to manually accelerate because a following vehicle was close behind. My original complaint reported the automatic braking failing to activate; the system now also activates falsely. Additionally, the hands-on-wheel warning repeatedly illuminated while my hands were on the wheel, taking approximately 30 seconds to detect them. I have stopped driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified in writing the same day, and a second repair visit is being arranged. No crash or injury has occurred.

When Highway Driving Assist / Lane Following Assist is active — confirmed by illuminated green HDA and lane assist indicators — the vehicle applies uncommanded steering torque, to the left or to the right, strong enough to force the vehicle out of its lane. This occurred on every drive, daily, from delivery on 7/2/2026 (approximately 23,200 miles) until the vehicle was brought in for service on 7/13/2026. The behavior was identical regardless of lane markings (solid, dotted, or absent) and road geometry (straight or curved), at highway speed and on local roads at approximately 30 mph. On multiple occasions the vehicle was pushed toward highway barriers (concrete median and metal guardrail, on both left and right sides) and into the oncoming traffic lane; avoiding barrier contact or returning from the oncoming lane required forceful manual correction, during which the rear of the vehicle oscillated side to side before directional control was fully regained. This occurred regardless of speed. Separately, the forward collision-avoidance / automatic emergency braking system failed to activate on multiple occasions when approaching stopped or slowing traffic, requiring hard manual braking by the driver. No warning lights displayed. An authorized dealer inspected the vehicle 7/13–7/21/2026: scans found no stored diagnostic trouble codes, road tests did not reproduce the behavior, and the dealer performed front camera and front radar ADAS calibration on 7/21/2026. I am currently monitoring the vehicle to determine whether the calibration corrected the behavior. A comparable loaner vehicle of the same brand exhibited correct HDA/LFA operation, which is how I confirmed my vehicle's behavior is abnormal. No crash or injury has occurred.

On June 8, 2026, while driving home from work and actively entering the freeway, the vehicle experienced a sudden, severe, and catastrophic loss of propulsion. Despite pressing the accelerator, the vehicle completely refused to accelerate beyond 30 mph, forcing me to navigate active highway traffic at a dangerously low speed. This sudden failure to accelerate while merging onto a high-speed interstate created an immediate, life-threatening situation, leaving the vehicle highly vulnerable to a severe rear-end collision. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Genesis dealership on June 9, 2026. Genesis Motor America (GMA) corporate customer service was notified, and Case #42801757 was opened. On June 25, 2026, the dealership stated they performed code scans and test drives but could not replicate the intermittent symptom or find any stored fault codes, declaring the vehicle ready for pickup without identifying or correcting the root cause of this severe defect. When challenged on the phone regarding the severe safety risk of driving a vehicle that unpredictably loses highway propulsion, the service advisor dismissed the life-threatening concern as "hypothetical." On July 3, 2026, GMA Customer Service provided their assessment on Case #42801757, rigidly stating the vehicle is not eligible for Lemon Law relief and instructing me to follow the dealer's advice to pick up the un-repaired car. Genesis is actively using the threat of immediate loaner car charges to force an unsafe vehicle back onto public roads. I am uploading the full email correspondence as evidence that Genesis corporate is forcing a vehicle with an unaddressed, life-threatening propulsion failure back into service.

Auto Start Stop seemed to have malfunction and shut the car off completely. I had to restart the car in traffic to get going. This happened twice, once going to work and once on a weekend trip to New Jersey. The only thing that's preventing an accident is you have to stop for the auto start feature to even activate.

My 2025 Genesis GV70 stopped accelerating properly. There is a lag when you push on the accelerator pedal and it must be pushed about 75% before it begins to accelerate. When it does accelerate it has much less power than normal. This fault occurs constantly. The car can't accelerate normally at any time now. This is definitely a very serious safety hazard. This behavior has been reproduced by Genesis service personnel. There are no warning lights associated with the problem and no diagnostic codes are signaled. After 24 days the Genesis service personnel have no idea what is wrong.

The vehicle has experienced recurring malfunctions involving the electrical system, driver-assistance/safety systems, transmission, braking system, door access sensors, and starting system. Specific issues include sudden braking events, erratic lane assist steering intervention, transmission slipping and gear slamming, intermittent loss of exterior door sensor function, failure of rear hatch access, repeated no-start conditions, dashboard warning messages, and random activation or malfunction of safety sensors. The vehicle and all affected components remain available for inspection upon request. These failures created significant safety risks to myself and others due to unpredictable braking, steering interference, drivability concerns, and the possibility of becoming stranded during interstate travel and adverse weather conditions. Some issues have been reproduced intermittently and documented through dealership service visits, vehicle logs, photographs, videos, and communications with Genesis Consumer Affairs; however, the dealership has indicated that certain conditions were difficult to duplicate consistently, particularly because many failures occur during wet, cold, snowy, or icy weather conditions not present during inspection periods. The vehicle has been inspected by Genesis dealerships, Genesis Consumer Affairs representatives, towing personnel, and is currently involved in a BBB AUTO LINE case. Prior to several failures, warning symptoms included dashboard alerts, abnormal braking sensations, transmission hesitation, intermittent warning lights, service notifications, sensor malfunctions, and inconsistent electrical behavior, which first began appearing at approximately 26,000–30,000 miles and progressively worsened over time.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Driver assist systems, including lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance/braking system, and related exterior sensor systems, are malfunctioning. The lane assist system has taken unintended control of steering, and the braking system has activated without cause. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle has exhibited unintended braking and steering intervention during normal driving conditions. Most recently, the lane assist system abruptly jerked the steering wheel while passing a side road opening, forcing the vehicle into a curb and causing damage. These unpredictable actions create a high risk of collision, loss of vehicle control, or being struck by other vehicles, especially in active traffic conditions. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was brought to the dealership for inspection; however, the issues were not reproduced during testing. Testing occurred under dry weather conditions, while the malfunctions primarily occur in wet, cold, snowy, or icy conditions. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Genesis dealership service department. Genesis Consumer Affairs has been notified and is aware of the reported issues. No other third-party inspections have been performed at this time. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There have been intermittent warning messages & dashboard indicator lights related to driver assist and system functionality. These warnings have appeared inconsistently and not always at the time of the malfunction. The problems began after 30K mi and returning to NY.

This is my second GV70 I had a 2024 and now a 2025. They had to buy back my first car due to the exact same issue. I was assured that the new model which I bought a different Hyundai in between the two GV70’s. I have owed over 100 cars and I truly love the Genesis but the SUV is Totally Unsafe to drive with the cruise control. The cruise control will slam on or firmly apply the breaks for zero reason. You will be driving no one around at all and the breaks come on. I have been almost rear ended several times. This happened the very first day I drove the car on I75. It happens daily that I am on I75 so I now only use the cruise control when there is no traffic. On my way to Lexington it happened 5 times. But now it’s getting worse. This will eventually kill somebody. I have been very nice but once I got tired of waiting for the dealership to do something about it I went to Genesis directly and now the dealership refuses to let me come back due to my complaint. The dealership Genesis of West Knoxville refuses to fix the problem and Genesis told me to go to the BBB. . Well the BBB is not the answer if someone dies due to this very serious situation. PLEASE help before someone dies. I have had two different dealerships service department people tell me they seen this before and even my first Genesis rep said this is an issue now they all say they never said it. And Genesis even took my advocate away and gave me a new one that I had for months and months and within a few days the new one said Genesis sees no reason to go any further. Thanks in advance for your help. Ron Garrett 931-303-4882

I am writing to formally escalate a serious unresolved issue with my Genesis vehicle and the service experience I have received from Genesis of Huntington. My vehicle has experienced repeated and dangerous malfunctions despite multiple repair attempts. The most concerning issue is that the vehicle suddenly stops functioning properly while driving, accompanied by all dashboard warning lights flashing. In order to continue driving, I have had to turn the vehicle off and restart it. The vehicle has been brought back to the dealership multiple times for the same problem. Each time I was informed that the issue had been repaired and that parts had been replaced. However, the problem continues to occur even after these repairs. One of the most alarming incidents occurred while I was driving from Huntington back to Queens with my wife and newborn child in the car. The vehicle malfunctioned again, forcing me to stop and restart the car while on the road. This situation created a serious safety risk for my family. Additionally, the vehicle has been kept by the dealership for extended periods during repair attempts. As of my most recent interaction, the dealership had the vehicle for nearly two weeks during the third repair attempt for the same issue. Despite this significant amount of time, the problem remains unresolved. Compounding the issue is the lack of communication from the dealership. My attempts to contact the service department and management for updates have often gone unanswered, leaving me without information regarding the status of my vehicle. At this point, I have lost confidence in the reliability of the vehicle and the ability of the dealership to properly diagnose and repair the issue. I respectfully request immediate intervention from Genesis Motor America to review this matter. Given the repeated repair attempts for the same defect and the safety concerns involved, I ask that Genesis consider a permanent resolution.
