I will need to check further to determine the actual date of the accident. the tire in question suffered tread separation while I was stationed in switzerland with the u.s. Foreign service and driving on the autobahn in germany. the tires were original equipment on the car, which was purchased in the u.s. I drove the car from 1993-1994 in guyana, a tropical country in south america. when I heard about the firestone tire recall due to tread separation, especially after being driven in hot climates, I decided to report my 1995 accident. the blowout caused me to lose control of the car, which veered off the highway and slid into a milepost on the driver's side. the car nearly flipped -- when it struck the milepost it leaned over on two wheels before settling back on four. I have always felt that the tire was defective -- there was no proximate cause for the tread separation -- and I would like to know whether there IS any possible connection to the firestone tire problems. I would also appreciate your advising me whether I should contact the manufacturer and demand compensation of any kind. thank you. (Tiresize: p205/75r15)( dot number: tire size: p205/75r15 )
