On certain transit buses equipped with cummins isb-02 diesel engines built with emc controlled fuel lift pumps. erratic voltage supply to the fuel lift pump causes premature electric brush wear internal to the fuel lift pump. this premature wear could result in fuel lift pump failure and in some cases may cause an engine stall condition.

Should the engine stall, a vehicle crash could occur.
Remedy
Cummins, in conjunction with gillig, will notify owners and repair the engines by emc recalibration and replacement of the fuel lift pump at no charge to the customer. owners may contact cummins assistance center at 1-800-diesels or gillig at 1-510-785-1500.
On certain transit buses, the cast clamp portion of the torque rod could crack under initial torqueing of the clamp fasteners resulting in breakage or cracks. casting porosity and incorrect heat treatment caused potential weakness in the cast clamp portion of the torque rod.

This could result in loss of vehicle control and a crash could occur without prior warning.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the cast iron torque rod clamps with a fabricated steel clamps free of charge. the recall began on june 17, 2005. owners may contact gillig at 510-785-1500.

- 10115971Gillig has received reports of partial cracking in the steering gear mounting plate in some Low Floor buses. We are now requesting that owners of all Low Floor buses from model year 1997 through June, 2015 inspect the steering gear mounting plates per the instructions in this bulletin. Inspections should commence at the next Preventative Maintenance Cycle and continue at every 12,000 mile PM inspection thereafter. Steering Gear Mounting Plates found to have cracks less than 6 inches in length should be changed out at the earliest opportunity. Any bus found to have a Steering Gear Mounting Plate with a crack 6 inches long or longer must be immediately removed from service and the Plate replaced before reentering service. In either instance, Gillig will reimburse owners the cost of any replacement plate and the labor required to perform the repair. Lower floor
