I bought a 2016 Harley Street Glide Special in Dec. of 2021. The 2nd time I rode it, I was driving to work on a busy highway and with no warning, I lost the throttle (it went into what appears to be called Limp Mode. When you're on the highway doing 70 with cars doing the same or more, it's not safe to instantly have no throttle. I've read that it is supposed to be a safety feature, but it seems more hazardous to me than safe. I pulled over, waited a few minutes, then restarted it, and it was fine, for a while. Then a few days later, it did it again when I was sitting at a stop light. I turned the bike off, started it when the light turned green, and thankfully, it was fine. Recently, I rode it to work, and it did it again as I was pulling into the parking lot at work. While it was annoying, it wasn't that big of a deal. I basically idled it to my parking spot. Then, on the way home, it did it 3 times. Twice on the busy highway that I mentioned earlier and once on a crowded city street with no shoulder. Luckily, I was approaching an apartment complex when it happened, so I was able to pull in and not be stuck in the middle of the road. I have read that Harley is aware of the issue, because I've learned that this is not a rare thing. I feel like there should be a recall to correct this before someone gets seriously hurt or killed, if they haven't already. *No, I have not "Confirmed" this with a dealer. *No, the bike has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance rep. *When the issue occurs, the check engine light comes on, but not before it does it. There is no warning for you to start getting over and move towards the shoulder. You just have to hope that you are not in the left lane of 3 or 4 lanes when it hits, because you just might get run over if you are.

Prior to riding, I always tighten the saddlebags, as another friend lost their saddle bag on the highway months prior (same model). When exiting the interstate, the right saddlebag fell to the highway, causing damage to the saddlebag. The bolts automatically back themselves out, no matter how frequently you tighten them. I had only gone approx. 20 miles on the interstate after tightening, when they backed out. not only IS the saddlebag ruined, it's a great safety risk to other motorists who may hit the saddlebag, or the saddlebag may strike their automobile or another motorcycle.

At times at a dead stop with the clutch pulled all the way in, the bike creeps forward. The clutch does not work correctly. This has a serious problem that can cause a injury or worse. Sometimes the clutch works correctly, sometimes not.

Harley davidson 2016 flhxs, motorcycle sat idle for 12 days, clutch failed to properly engage both at idle, while stopped and several times while I was in traffic attempting to change gears. I contacted dealership where vehicle was purchased and also checked nhtsa data base and was told that my vehicle was not part of current recall, but I have encountered the same issue as described in the recall. I think this issue affects more than just the vehicles identified in the recall.

Gas cap swells up to a point where it cannot be screwed back in. I had filed a complaint with harley davison and nothing was done about it. I understand that this IS a nationwide problem but my problem IS if I was involved in an accident there could either be an explosion or a fiery crash.

• 10222358TECHNICAL TIP BULLETIN TA0016: 2014 and Later Touring Steering Head Bearing Adjustment. PURPOSE: REVISION. Updated: 2014-2019 to 2014 and later Touring vehicles, and VEHICLES AFFECTED. Harley-Davidson motorcycles are designed, manufactured and tested to be operated with both of the riders hands on the handlebar. If you or a customer are experiencing a handling concern, refer to the TROUBLESHOOTING, HANDLING, IRREGULARITIES found in the MAINTAINANCE chapter of the appropriate service manual. The service manual process is not intended to validate factory settings, but rather to be used if a concern is presented. Through extensive testing, Harley-Davidson has developed the service manual specification and adjustment procedure as the optimum steering head bearing adjustment and verification method to achieve the desired handling characteristics across all speeds and conditions. Addressing a perceived feel of low speed wobble, oscillation or free play by adjusting the steering head bearings beyond the service manual specification may have an adverse effect on motorcycle stability.

Installing the plug in the return shock contains the oil in the shock during the shipment to the supplier. This information applies to 2014-2016 Touring and Trike models with rear air shock absorbers.

• 10162967SERVICE BULLETIN M1492: 2017 - 2019 TOURING - MILWAUKEE EIGHT - INNER PRIMARY VENT. Purpose: Revision. Harley-Davidson has learned that a small percentage of dealers and customers are finding low transmission oil levels and high primary oil levels during normal maintenance intervals. This could indicate that oil is transferring from the transmission case to the primary housing through the transmission mainshaft. A inner primary vent service kit (Part No. 26500027) is now available to address this issue. The kit allows the primary to breath and prevents excessive pressure. All markets are affected.
• 10158168SERVICE BULLETIN M1450: MILWAUKEE-EIGHT EQUIPPED VEHICLES - LOSS OF POWER OR HIGH ENGINE BRAKING. REVISION. Purpose: 2017 - 2019 model motorcycles equipped with a Milwaukee-Eight? engine can experience a condition known as sumping during extended periods at high rpm or under heavy engine load. Sumping is when an excessive amount of oil is suspended in the engine crankcase and the flywheel must travel through the oil, resulting in loss of power or a high degree of engine braking and potential engine component damage with extended use under these conditions. This bulletin provides the diagnostic procedure for determining if sumping is occurring.
• 10153989TECH ARTICLE TA0016: 2014 and Later Touring Steering Head Bearing Adjustment. Purpose: During recent dealer visits to observe steering head bearing adjustment process, Harley-Davidson staff observed that some dealers are not correctly following the service manual steering head bearing adjustment process. Issue: Steering head bearings on 2014 and later Touring, CVO Touring and Police Touring motorcycles which may not have been adjusted correctly using the service manual procedure at dealerships. Resolution: Never make adjustments by feel. Always follow the process in the appropriate service manual.
• 10139399TECH ARTICLE TA0023: TA0023: Crankshaft Rod Bearing. Purpose: Technicians have been falsely identifying connecting rod bearings as failed due to a perception of resistance as the rods are rotated. The clearance of the Twin Cam and Milwaukee-Eight crank pin bearings are maintained to a very tight range. This optimizes performance and maintains low mechanical noise in operation. The connecting rod bore can also distort slightly in operation due to stress relaxation. As a result, bearing clearance decreases due to the contact zone broadening and the load being distributed over more rollers. The combination of a bore being slightly out of round and reduced bearing clearance can result in varying degrees of resistance through the range of motion. Axial clearance is also tightly controlled for proper alignment. For these reasons, zones of resistance can be found when the connecting rods are rotated by hand through their range of motion. Resistance during rod motion, by itself, is not an indication of a performance or durability concern.

(see service manual), 2) What was the swing back result after the steering head bearing adjustment was performed? (see service manual).
• 10124216TECH ARTICLE TA0022: Transmission to Primary Oil Transfer. During service intervals, customers or dealers may find oil level in the primary above the clutch cover opening.
