Motorcyle was sitting with kickstand down. I then turned on the key and hit the start button. The motorcycle instantly started up and because it was in gear it took off across the roadway nearly causing an accident with another motorvehicle. I then pushed it over on it's side to gain control of the bike. The bike a 2004 dyna should not be able to start in gear, even if I was on it I may have lost control of the bike because it would have took off before I would have been ready. The damage was to the right side of the bike, pipes, turnsignals, and front end will all need to be replaced.*ak
