I purchased my 2022 Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight motorcycle brand-new in May 2022. The motorcycle has experienced repeated, unpredictable engine stalling and electrical problems that I believe present a serious safety risk. In October 2025, while traveling approximately 65–70 mph on Highway 99, the engine unexpectedly stalled. My turn signals and hazard lights also stopped functioning, although the instruments and headlight remained on. I was fortunate to safely coast to the shoulder. The motorcycle did not immediately restart. In February 2026, the motorcycle experienced another electrical/no-start condition. After I moved the handlebars and wiring, it eventually started. I did not feel safe riding it. The motorcycle was subsequently taken to Eagle's Nest Harley-Davidson for diagnosis and remained there for several months. The dealership tested the battery, charging system, and stator and performed an approximately five-mile road test. The reported intermittent stalling problem was not reproduced, and its cause was not identified. A separate slipping clutch condition was also documented. After the motorcycle was returned, I experienced another starting problem that improved after moving the handlebars and wiring. In September 2026, while accelerating away from a stop sign at approximately 10–15 mph, the motorcycle suddenly jerked, the lights flickered, and the engine stalled. Another vehicle was directly behind me. It took two attempts to restart the motorcycle, after which I immediately returned home. The intermittent electrical and engine stalling concern remains unresolved. I reported the latest incident to the dealership on October 7, 2026, but have not received a response as of October 22, 2026. I am concerned that another unexpected engine stall, particularly at freeway speed or in traffic, could result in a serious or fatal collision. The motorcycle is available for inspection, and I have retained the dealership's diagnostic records.
