10185457A subject vehicle may exhibit an illuminated check engine lamp with DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P2148 and/or P2151. The engine ECU software may falsely detect an issue and record these DTC?s in the engine ECU. Revised engine ECU software has been made available to prevent this false detection. If DTC P2148 and/or P2151 are recorded in the engine ECU, reprogram the ECU to the software level listed in this bulletin. A subject vehicle may exhibit an illuminated check engine lamp with DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P026C and/or P026D. The engine ECU software may falsely detect an issue and record these DTC?s in the engine ECU. Revised engine ECU software has been made available to prevent this false detection. If DTC P026C and/or P026D are recorded in the engine ECU, reprogram the ECU to the software level listed in this bulletin.
10184992Brakes - Hydro Brake Pedal Swith - washer. Conventional Trucks equipped with hydro-max hydraulic brakes. In 2015, a copper washer was added between the hydro boost push rod clevis and brake pedal in order to maintain minimum clearance. The purpose of this technical tip is to provide a referrence for the location of this copper washer shouuld any part of this connection require disass disassembly and reassembly.
10184991General - DTC P20B2 Coolant Cutoff Valve diagnostic - Most SCR (Selective catalyst reduction) coolant cutoff valves received through warranty return do not reveal any faults when tested. Please follow the checks outlined below before replacing the coolant cutoff valve. When testing the cutoff valve function with the DXII (Diagnostic Explorer 2), The valve may not click if the valve is unplugged any time while the ignition is on, The DCU will disable test function of the cutoff valve. In order to enable the cutoff valve operation, ensure the valve is plugged in and perform the UREA SCR System Memory Reset From the Engine ECU Data Monitor and follow the prompts to complete the reset. After performing the SCR reset, clear DTC and then read out DTC's P204F from the engine ECU and cycle the ignition off for 60 seconds. Turn the ignition on, and then read out DTC's in the Engine ECU and DCU. If no DTC's are present, the cutoff valve function test can now be performed. If the cutoff valve clicks when performing step 8 of the current diagnostic procedure in the Workshop Manual, it is NOT likely that the cut off valve is faulty. When testing power or ground to the cutoff valve, the valve must be plugged in or the DCU will not apply power to the cutoff valve when an open load is detected. Once an open load is detected, a UREA SCR System Memory Reset is required, as mentioned above. If necessary, power and ground to the valve can be tested by back probing the terminals with the connector plugged in. DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P20B2 may falsely set in the DCU (Dosing Control Unit) due to an inaccurate temperature input from the DEF sensord unit's temperature sensor. If DTC's P205B, P205C, P205D, or U02A2 have set, diagnose these DTC's before suspecting an issue with the cutoff valve.
10184990Engine - Cam Housing Bolt Torque Update. The procedure for installing the rocker shaft bolts into the cam housing has been updated. It is recommended to lightly lubricate the threads and flange of the bolts with clean engine oil before installing them. The torque specification has also been reduced as a result of adding lubricant to the bolts. Reference service bulletin SB-16-027 or SB-16-028 (Revision of workshop manual for J08 Engines or J05 Engines - Change in tightening torque for the rocker arm support bolt)
10184986General - 2011-17 Conventional Trucks or 2013-17 COE Trucks. Current production DEF injectors contain enhancements including improvements to the aluminum housing. When replacing the DEF injector, it is necessary to install the complete DEF injector assembly (Part no S17J0 - E00200) onto the vehicle, not only the center injector portion. Replacing only the center portion of the DEF injector and reusing the existing housing WILL result in warranty charge back.

10184951Customer may complain of a loss of air pressure after the vehicle has been sitting parked. Some amount of pressure loss is expected and should be considered normal. Roughly 50% of parking brake valves refturned through warranty do not exhibit any faults when tested. When testing the valves for leaks, a small (non-audible) amount of air leakage can be expected through the fexhaust port of the valve. Please be sure to follow the testing procedure as outlined by section BR02-39 of the Chassis Workshop Manual under Inspection and Repair. If the amount jof air leakage is less than the test specification, do not repair or replace the parking brake valve. If the vehicle exhibits a significant loss of air pressure, inspect the rest of the air system for leaks before condemning the parking brake valve.
