In the affected vehicles, components of the parking brake handle assembly may wear, resulting in either the parking brake unexpectedly releasing when engaged or preventing the parking brake from…
Risk and remedy
Risk
Either parking brake condition may result in the vehicle rolling unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Hino will notify owners, and dealers will install a new parking brake lever that contains a two-way damper and a roller at the cable joining pin, free of charge. The recall began February 2, 2015. Owners may contact Hino customer service at 1-248-699-9330. Hino's number for this recall is A9970. Note: This recall supersedes 13V-614.
Hino is recalling certain model year 2005 through 2013 medium duty trucks, models NA6J, NB6J, NC6J, ND8J, NE8J, NJ8J, NF8J, and NV8J, manufactured from August 18, 2003, through November 16, 2011. Over time, the main B+ circuit from the battery to the starter could potentially short to ground due to wear that accumulates as a result of interference between…
Risk and remedy
Risk
If the B+ circuit shorts to ground, it may lead to a fire.
Remedy
Hino will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The recall began on January 17, 2013. Owners may contact Hino at 1-248-699-9390.

10185627When replacing an engine block with service part no., 11401E0380 there is potential that 2 rear oil passage plugs may be missing in the rear of the replacement engine block. In the event your replacement engine block does not have these 2 oil passage plugs, you will need to install them before proceeding
10185600When replacing a broken hood grille, an enhanced replacement hood grille is available. This procedure should be used when installing this enhanced grille to make certain that the hood grille is correctly installed.
10185597In the event that one of the subject vehicles is driven while the ABS warning lamp is illuminated, operation of the torque converter clutch will be suspended. Driving the vehicle with an ABS warning lamp illuminated can lead to overheating of the transmission fluid due to the torque converter clutch not functioning. A jumper harness has been made available that will allow operation of the torque converter clutch in the event that the vehicle is driven while the ABS warning lamp is illuminated.
10185596Subject vehicles may exhibit a concern where manual regeneration does not complete within one hour of depressing the manual regeneration button. In these cases, there will be no indicators showing why manual regeneration will not complete. Check the burner event log to confirm that there is no history of misfire events after the last recorded completion of manual regeneration. If there is no history of misfires to address, updated BCU software is available to address this concern.
10185595DPR damage, "Burner misfire due to excessive soot on the burner igniter surface", and "DPR push out" may occur due to the increase in the amount of soot in exhaust gas as a result of engine component degradation. In order to reduce the soot in exhaust gas under this situation, even when the engine components are deteriorated, enhanced ECU software has been released. Reprogram the ECU if the failure conditions stated above occur AND the cause could not be determined after diagnosis.

10185456Subject vehicles may exhibit electrical symptoms which can include, but are not limited to erratic operation of the exterior lamps, warning lamps illuminated in the instrument cluster, or erroneous DTC?s (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) setting in various modules. If the subject vehicle exhibits symptoms of this nature, inspect for corroded wire terminals within the electrical junction box on the passenger side of the bulkhead. An enhanced junction box cover and wire harness support are available to reduce the chance of water intrusion into the junction box.
10185455If the parking brake is not released in accordance with the instructions in the Driver?s/Owner?s Manual (such as releasing the parking brake lever only by pushing the lever release button, without holding the lever with the hand, until it is completely released), the tension of the brake cable could be released quickly, causing an increase in the friction between the long hole in the slide area and the cable joining pin. In addition, improper adjustment of the parking brake cable that is stretched due to repeated operation of the parking brake could increase the contact force between the cable joining pin and the long hole in the slide area of the parking brake lever during the operation of the parking brake. If the parking brake continues to be operated in such a condition, the long hole in the slide area of the parking brake lever becomes worn and the long hole diameter becomes enlarged. If that condition occurs, the washer fixed to the cable joining pin can become stuck in the worn and enlarged long hole when the parking brake lever is pulled. This situation may prevent the parking brake lever being pulled to its full stroke, leading to the application of insufficient brake force. In the worst case situation, vibration can cause the washer which is stuck in the worn and enlarged long hole to come off, releasing the parking brake lever and resulting in the vehicle moving.
10184814Some vehicles that operate in extreme cold weather climates may exhibit ice accumulation on the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) butterfly plate with a repeat P1604 DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the engine ECU. A heated EGR valve has been made available to prevent this occurrence. Hino Conventional NE8J, NJ8J and NV8J trucks built before 10/15/2014
10182896Some engines may erroneously record a P202E DTC in the DCU along with a P204F in the ECU. This fault condition is due to DCU software misdetection of DEF system pressure being delivered to the DEF injector.

10118109TT-15-016 The purpose of this publication is to communicate the standard measuring positions on the Hino chassis. In some cases, the customer may report a visual chassis posture concern where the chassis appears to be leaning more towards the driver side or passenger side. The following publication can be referenced to obtain the manufacture?s measurement positions and specifications. Should the truck not meet the specifications, you should consider the following potential causes noted in the inspection guideline section below.
10118108TT-15-014 The transmission DTC?s P0974 and P0986, may be found on 12MY-15MY COE models. There could also be a complaint of low power and erratic shifting. These diagnostic codes may be set due to low voltage between the transmission case and the battery post.

1011809413-008 Design Change of the Idler Gear Case and Idler Gear Bolt. Abnormal load such as a stuck supply pump was applied to gear train then causing the bolt to loosen. Therefore, an enhancement to the case and bolt were carried out. The idler gear case and bolt were changed to increase the robustness for the abnormal load. The details are as follows.
10118089SB -13 - 001 Incorrect Rear Axle Differential Fluid. Certain rear drive axles were improperly filled with non-synthetic differential fluid during assembly at the WV assembly plant instead of the intended Full Synthetic differential fluid. The non-synthetic differential fluid must be drained and refilled with the recommended synthetic fluid or equivalent.
10118088SB-13-003 In some cases the parking brake lamp indicator may remain illuminated with the parking brake lever in the ?off? position. This TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) will provide instructions for installing an enhanced parking brake switch and adding a shorting pin in place of the parking brake switch relay.

10117685SB-15-031 Foreign debris in the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) tank may cause the SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) system to malfunction. This can result in DTC?s (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) P20E8 or P20E9 - DEF Pressure Abnormality. An inlet strainer for the DEF tank has been made available to prevent foreign material from entering the DEF tank.
10117680SB-15-026 A subject vehicle may exhibit an engine oil leak or engine coolant leaking externally from the engine head gasket sealing area on the exhaust manifold side of the engine. An improved head gasket has been made available as a service part and should be used if replacement of the head gasket is necessary. Improvement of the head gasket includes the addition of rubber seals around the engine oil and engine coolant port holes.
10117678SB-15-022 In the rare event that a subject vehicle equipped with the 23k Comfort Ride air suspension experiences a premature main leaf failure, a 23k HD Comfort Ride air suspension may be installed with PRIOR APPROVAL from HMM QA.
