Risk
A detached seat belt anchor will not adequately restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and reinforce or replace the seat belt anchors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning May 29, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 and Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 298 and 032G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov April 8, 2026.

Risk
A detached charging port door panel can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will apply an adhesive on the charging port door assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning October 10, 2025. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 282. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 13, 2025.
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022-2024 IONIQ 5, 2023-2025 IONIQ 6, Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70 "Electrified," and Genesis G80 "Electrified" vehicles. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) may become damaged and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuse, as necessary. In addition, dealers will update the ICCU software. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 20, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 or Genesis customer service at 1-844-340-9741. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 272 (Hyundai) and 025G (Genesis). This recall expands and replaces previous recall number 24V-204. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 24V-204 will need to have the new remedy completed.

We were driving and vehicle suddenly showed multiple warnings including check forward/side safety system, check change lane assist, check inattentive driving warning, check lane safety system and then things went away and it showed 4 needs attention represented by triangle with exclamation point. We also seemed to lose power steering assist. It could drive but was "heavy". We were on highway trying to figure out what to do and what was wrong. Isolated stretch of highway at night. Suddenly the multiple warning flashed again. We were trying to determine what to do. The car seemed to drive fine except power steering seemed heavy. Suddenly a violent "jerk" occurred with vehicle sending us into the other lane. Fortunately, we were by ourselves on the highway and no crash or other vehicle impacted. Instantly, after the violent "jerk" the car was back to normal. Steering normal and all warnings went away. We have a video and pictures of the incident. It seems related to functional 12 V battery based on my assessment. There was a recall of the ICCU and software to charging the battery.

Shift-by-wire system completely locked up, the vehicle refused to power down, and potentially the brake pedal switch failed. The vehicle became unresponsive while I was in a parking garage. Thankfully this didn't happen on the road. After spending over an hour trying random "tricks" found online, I eventually managed to turn the car off and restart it. I still don't know how. Through my research, I discovered that I am far from the only owner experiencing this terrifying defect. There are numerous documented cases online of this exact vehicle platform refusing to shift out of gear or shut down. I completely disagree and find that this is a serious safety glitch for a car. They offered a BBB AUTO LINE arbitration. A severe life-safety defect that traps a driver without vehicle control requires immediate regulatory oversight, not internal arbitration. Today I was driving on highway when all of a sudden the psi went from 22 to 0 on my back left tire. We pulled over and the tire came off the rim and somehow sliced the tire. I checked and there were no punctures and nothing in the tire. According to tow truck driver the back right tire is getting ready to do the same thing. This is the second time within a couple months I got a flat. I've never had issues with tires of this type on other vehicle The tow truck brought vehicle to Simmons Rockwell in Elmira. Accelerator stopped working on the highway. Dash displayed an electrical system warning and speed dropped to a crawl. The hazard came from being on an interstate at night and the closing speed for everyone behind us. Fortunately we were by an exit and could drive in the shoulder at 25 mph to it. Vehicle was towed to Stew Hansen Hyundai in Clive, IA. 12-volt battery, ICU and high-voltage fuse were replaced. My VIN did not appear in NHTSA recall lookup results for this issue.

NHTSA COMPLAINT — SHORT VERSION I am reporting a persistent, unresolved, safety-related steering defect in my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 (leased 10/12/2024). Beginning in September 2025 at approximately 15,412 miles, the vehicle exhibits: (1) uncontrolled steering wheel shifting left and right at highway speeds; (2) hard pulling to the left when accelerating or decelerating; and (3) the vehicle swaying or jerking within its lane without driver input. I described the issue to the dealer as "pretty dangerous to drive" — this language is documented in Repair Order #XXX. Despite 6+ documented repair attempts over 9 service visits from September 2025 through May 2026, the defect remains unresolved. Repairs attempted include: two 4-wheel alignments, road-force balancing, steering angle sensor calibration, front camera calibration, new front view camera installation, and a complete steering gear box (R-MDPS) replacement. The vehicle was out of service for 129 documented days. CRITICAL ADMISSION: Dealer Repair Order #XXX(11/5/2025) explicitly states that Hyundai's Technical Service Bulletin procedures for this steering defect only apply at speeds of 40 MPH and below, and that "above that speed there are too many variables." The defect occurs at highway speeds above 40 MPH. This is a written admission that no manufacturer-approved repair procedure exists for the defect as experienced. Hyundai Techline Case #XXX was opened in January 2026. After Techline involvement and new camera installation, the technician's own repair order states "concern still present" after road testing. Hyundai Motor America corporate case #XXX was opened, and Hyundai has now stated they cannot process a buyback or lemon case. "While driving a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 at approximately 10,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a sudden, catastrophic Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure with no advance warning. The vehicle instantly experienced a total electrical shutdown while the car was on the ramp. The failure completely bypassed and disabled standard safety redundancies: the electronic parking brake/emergency brake system failed , and the 12-volt backup battery died instantly, making it impossible to activate the hazard lights. The vehicle became a completely invisible, immovable dead weight on an active roadway, presenting an imminent, extreme threat of crash, injury, or death to myself and surrounding motorists. I was holding my breath and have to call AAA road side emergency assistance, only when an external battery is connected I could move the car in "Turtle Mode" to a safe spot.The manufacturer has replaced the ICCU, but the total failure of critical emergency safety and braking indicators poses a fundamental safety defect that needs federal investigation."

The contact stated that the computer control module failure was caused by using a faulty phone charger inside the vehicle. The computer control module was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 300.

I was driving at 60mph. I heard a sudden pop that felt like it came from behind me / under the car. While I glanced to see if I ran over something (I did not), the car suddenly felt like it was about to stall. It was slowing down quickly and dramatically. My safety was in danger as I quickly dropped speeds in heavy traffic on a freeway without warning. I was able to maintain control, and I turned my hazards on. I noticed that I was maintaining speed around 35-40 mph (no matter how heavy I hit the accelerator), and I moved to the right lane and continued while wondering if my car would survive all the way home. Luckily I was only about 1 mile from my house at that point, so I proceeded at a low rate of speed and ultimately made it home. It was scary, sudden, and put me and others on the road in danger. A couple of warnings popped up saying "Electrical System issue" and something else that was related to electronics. The vehicle was towed to the dealership that night, and diagnostics and repairs began the following day. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer to be an ICCU failure that needs to be replaced. There were zero warnings prior to the failure--the car was working perfectly up until that moment. Anything is available for inspection, but as I mentioned it's being replaced as we speak so the broken / malfunctioning part wouldn't be there anymore if someone looked at it.

On April 10,2026 I heard a pop while driving and a check electrical system light came on, my vehicle lost power while driving. This appears to be a common problem with ioniq5 and 6 going back years. Also failure in their ICCU and 12 volt batteries.A veh. Losing power unexpectedly could lead to a collision, injury or worse.my Ioniq 6 was recently serviced and only has 14,794 miles.I respectfully urge the national highway traffic safety administration to: 1.continue and expand investigation into electrical system failures in the Hyundai ioniq 6 and 5. Also 2. Ensure that affected vehicles are properly repaired with permanent solutions or the company should have to buy back the unsafe defective vehicles. Also 3. Require clearer and more immediate warnings to drivers regarding the risk of sudden power loss. Drivers should not have to keep experiencing this safety risk, after all these years of it being reported.

"While traveling in fast-moving traffic, my 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 suffered a catastrophic electrical system failure and an immediate loss of motive power. The vehicle instantly entered a 'limp mode' and dropped to a maximum speed of 11 mph, creating a life-threatening hazard for myself and surrounding drivers. There were no warning lamps or symptoms prior to this sudden failure. The vehicle was towed to a certified Hyundai dealer (Ricart Hyundai), where a diagnostic scan confirmed a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) with error code DTC P1A9096. This failure is directly related to the known issues in Recall 257. The dealer has confirmed that the replacement ICCU is currently on indefinite backorder with no estimated time of arrival (ETA). The vehicle and failed component are currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request."

On the evening of February 11, 2026, my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL experienced a complete ICCU failure while I was traveling with my minor son. The vehicle became fully inoperable and left us stranded on the side of the road at night, in the middle of a winter storm. I was forced to call for a tow truck, wait in dangerous conditions, and arrange emergency transport for myself and my child. The vehicle was towed to Visions Hyundai of Henrietta, located in Rochester, New York. That was over three weeks ago. As of the date of my complaint, my vehicle remains at the dealership. I have been told that the replacement ICCU part is on indefinite backorder, with no estimated delivery date provided. I am left making full monthly payments on a vehicle I cannot drive.

There has been NO warning issued to Hyundai consumers about this. When the ICCU fails, it puts consumers at risk. When it happened to me, there was no shoulder to pull onto. Because there was a snowstorm that morning, the flatbed tow truck did not come for 3 hours. My car was in the shop for 3 days. The bottom line is that the failure of communication about this defect puts consumers at risk!

My leased 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 experienced a sudden malfunction resulting in loss of vehicle operation. The vehicle has been at the dealership with delayed diagnosis and no clear repair timeline provided. This appears to be a safety-related defect involving the electric system. I am aware of multiple reports and recent news coverage describing similar failures in Hyundai/Kia electric vehicles related to ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) defects, which can cause sudden battery discharge and loss of propulsion. Media reports indicate that this defect has affected numerous vehicles and, in some cases, repairs have taken more than a month due to part availability and diagnosis delays. My vehicle experienced similar symptoms, including loss of power / inability to operate normally, and the dealer has not been able to promptly resolve the issue. This appears to be a broader safety-related defect rather than an isolated incident.

this vehicle was delivered to me on Sept 1, 2025 / i have been back to the dealership a few times regarding the front windshield is totally scratched up this had to happen from the windshield wipers the issue is that when i drive into the sun the glare from all the scratches is annoying the second issue that hyundai cannot fix is that the app on the phone has stated since day 1 that the cars vehicle health needs attention / hyundai corporate response is that I should take it back to the deal EVERY DAY / i have no clue what is wrong with the car and if it is safe to drive hyundai corporate is washing their hands regarding both of these issues / they are doing the same thing now that they did to me in 2018 when they told me that I had to pay them to break a lease on a lemon law claim when they could not fix the 20+ issues that were wrong with my car i have case numbers if you want them

The ICCU died and the fuse on my traction battery blew. Both had to be replaced. I realized I had the problem when I started my car and it showed "Check Electric Vehicle System". When I tried driving it, I was limited to speeds below 45MPH, then eventually 25MPH, and eventually it would enter "turtle mode" and I could limp along at a couple MPH. I found the car would no longer charge the 12V accessory battery and it would no longer receive a charge from my home charger.

My car is less than a year and a half old with only about 10k miles and last night I had the ICCU failure. I already had the software update to "fix" this safety recall 272 but it obviously didn't work. I am a female with a young daughter who was almost stranded in a bad neighborhood as suddenly my car wouldn't go faster than 15 miles an hour and I looked it up and knew it would just stop suddenly at some point. I only had a quick 1 min warning when I turned on my car that said "Check Electrical Vehicle System" then switched to "Stop vehicle and check power supply". My car is now at the dealership and I was told they have to put the same type of part back in as there are no new versions of it. Which is why others have had this happen multiple times.

- 11010986Certain 2022-2024MY IONIQ 5 (NE EV) and 2023-2025MY IONIQ 6 (CE EV) vehicles may exhibit a condition while driving where the 12V battery voltage drops below the operational voltage and the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) places the vehicle in fail-safe mode. The VCU software in this bulletin updates the maximum vehicle speeds for various levels of 12V battery voltage when the vehicle enters fail-safe mode.
