While making a low speed turn (<10mph) the LKA icon (black panel) and failure alert (center screen) appeared on the meter, then immediately after the power steering icon (black panel) and failure alert (center screen) appeared on the meter. The electroninc power steering completely died and I nearly ran into an oncoming car and then I actually ran off the road slightly into the grass after correcting in the other direction. I tried a quick ignition cycle on the side of the road and the issue persisted so I pulled into a parking lot and did another ignition cycle but I waited a minute or so before restarting the car. This time the when I turned the car on warning and failure went away so I waited a few more minutes then drove home; then in my apartment parking garage at low speed (<10mph again) right as I was pulling into a parking spot the same pattern occured again (LKA then EPS) and I almost hit a concrete wall due to the loss of power steering assist. I have now parked the car and plan to get it towed to a dealership because I believe this put myself and others at risk; I had to use my entire upper body to keep control of the vehicle and if this happened to me then this could very well happen to someone who isn't as able bodied as I am.

On August 15, 2026, while driving my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N, the electric power steering assist intermittently became noticeably heavier than normal. The vehicle’s steering remained mechanically controllable, but the increased steering effort was noticeable and raised a safety concern because the loss or reduction of steering assist occurred while the vehicle was being driven. I scanned the vehicle and found diagnostic trouble code C129002 in the EPS/MDPS system, described as a torque sensor signal fault. I also found DTC C168886 in the LKAS system. Both codes were reported as open at approximately 80,252 miles. After turning the vehicle off and restarting it, normal steering assist returned. The problem has since been intermittent, with the steering currently feeling normal, but the diagnostic codes were previously active and the vehicle experienced an actual change in steering effort while driving. This is not the first intermittent issue I have experienced with the vehicle. A similar steering-assist problem occurred a couple of months earlier. The vehicle has also experienced intermittent power loss on other occasions. I previously brought the vehicle to a Hyundai dealer for the intermittent power-loss concern, but the dealer was unable to reproduce or confirm the problem at that time. I do not know whether the intermittent power-loss issue is related to the steering-assist problem. The current steering problem has not yet been confirmed or repaired by a dealer or independent repair facility. I am concerned that an intermittent loss or reduction of electric power steering assist could recur unexpectedly while driving and increase the risk of losing adequate steering control, particularly at higher speeds or during an emergency maneuver.

There is an intermittent issue that begins with the lane departure warning light followed by the power steering light flashing red. It leads to a complete and sudden loss of power steering. This has happened at low speeds as well as highway speeds with no discernable pattern for replicating the issue.

Power steering failure while at speed on the highway. This caused safety systems to be disabled and the car was very hard to control. If this happened while cornering, a deadly crash could happen. the problem has not been confirmed or reproduced. it has not been inspected. No issues prior to the failure. only appeared after SP failed

The steering system failed while driving down the highway on two different ocassions. I got a warning message saying the driver att warning sys had malfunctioned (it wasn't on a the time) then after that message disappeared, I had a red light in the "steering column" symbol in the dash. The steering lost all power and it was really hard to drive the car as it felt like a car with no power steering at all but worse. If in a turn, it would want to stay in a turn and it would fight you to get it back to center coming out of the turns. I was able to get off the highway and nurse it to a parking lot. I checked the power steering fluid (thinking it might have leaked out), but it was there. Upon initial restart of the car the same messages and failure reappeared. However, after approximately 1 hr, I restarted the car and everything worked as normal. About 10 mins into the drive home, the same warning and cautions were displayed and the steering completely failed while driving. I was able to nurse the car to the nearest Hyundai dealership (RedMcCombs Hyundai Northwest in San Antonio, TX) and it has been there since 8 May with no resolution as they are awaiting approval from Hyundai to order a completely new steering rack assembly. However, the dealer noted that they had another Veloster N with ~60,000 miles come in for the same issue multiple times. My car's steering failed at ~41,000 miles. When I looked online, looks like many other Veloster N owners have suffered the same failure at random mileage. When I asked the dealership why the delay in the repairs, they stated that Hyundai might be considering a recall or providing a specific fix and that is why my car's repair approval has been delayed. He stated in the previous case, the repair approval was done after only a few days. My main concern is that they do not know what is actually wrong, and will just replace all steering rack system components without inspecting for actual faulty parts from the manufacturer or vendor

Went to back out of a parking space got a “check lane keep assist” warning on dash as well as red steering light. Steering was totally locked up luckily I was parked but if I was driving It could’ve caused a serious issue. I’ve seen multiple other people with this vehicle have had this problem as well and still no recall.

The ownership of my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N has been defined by an unresolved safety recall that has left the vehicle undriveable and in the dealer's possession for a month. My attempts to address the issue began in September 2024, when I brought the car in for the High-Pressure Fuel Pump recall (NHTSA 24V528). The dealer performed a software update but declined to replace the pump. The situation escalated on January 2, 2026, when the vehicle suffered a severe loss of power. The dealer then replaced the recalled pump, but the fix was unsuccessful. Immediately after leaving the dealership, the car failed again, stalling during a turn in traffic and creating a clear and dangerous situation. That incident initiated a cascade of failed repair attempts. Over the next several weeks, at Hyundai's direction, the dealer replaced the fuel sensor and then the fuel injectors, but the core problem remained. The impact has been significant. I have been without my personal vehicle for a month, forcing me to rearrange work and personal commitments to manage the situation. The dealership remains unable to diagnose the root cause, and after multiple failed attempts, my confidence in the safety and reliability of this vehicle has been completely undermined.

The issue involved the electronic power steering (EPS) system on my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N (approx. 70,000 miles). While driving, the EPS stopped providing steering assist and a fault warning appeared on the dash. After checking the engine bay fuse box, I found that the PDM 7.5A micro blade fuse (which powers the EPS circuit) appeared heat-discolored/burned. I replaced it with an identical 7.5A micro blade fuse, and the system later returned to normal operation. The original fuse that appeared damaged is still in my possession and is available for inspection upon request When the fuse failed, I suddenly lost power steering assist and the steering became extremely heavy, especially at low speeds. This made it difficult to turn the wheel for parking, lane changes, and tighter turns. This could have put my safety and others at risk because: •It required much more physical effort to steer, especially in a parking lot and at slower speeds. •In an emergency situation, it would have been harder to quickly avoid obstacles or other vehicles. •A less physically strong driver, or someone caught off guard, might not be able to maintain proper control, increasing the risk of a collision. No. The problem has not been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. After I replaced the PDM 7.5A fuse, the EPS warning and heavy steering condition went away and have not returned so far, so the failure has not been actively present for a shop to duplicate. No. The vehicle and the failed fuse have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, dealer, police, insurance, or any other third party. At this time I have only inspected the fuse visually myself and replaced

Vehicle stalled after misfire in cylinder 4. No signs of problems prior to failure of injector number 4 at 14000 miles. Upon investigating prior history of vehicle owner, customer reported misfire on cylinder 2, and 4 at 3 thousand miles. Technician replaced injector 2 only. Months after, my vehicle stalled due to misfire in cylinder 1, which was corrected by restarting car. Injector number one was replaced. at the moment with only 24000 miles on vehicle, 3 out of 4 injectors have prematurely failed. After doing hpfp recall update on ECM, Dual clutch transmission was rough shifting from first to second at random intervals. This shift sounded very metallic and un-lubricated. Eventually, the banging sound went away after happening for 3 months. Vehicle does not run the same after update on ECM “Check lane assist system” warning randomly shows up on dash at different times before going away. FRONT VIEW CAMERA code is being reported by ECM along with C1642-02

While driving, I would randomly get an alert saying “check lane departure assist system” along with my power steering going completely out. If I restart the car, sometimes it fixes the issue until it happens again randomly. Sometimes it wont happen for a week, sometimes it happens multiple times a day. I can’t narrow it down to anything since it happens so randomly.

All lane departure and steering warning lights came on, and the steering wheel locked hard to the left, causing the car to veer into oncoming traffic. I narrowly avoided a collision and was able to regain control, but it was extremely dangerous. The vehicle was later diagnosed by the dealership as needing an entire new steering rack. This is the second time this same issue has happened after it was supposedly repaired, and I no longer feel safe driving this car.

While driving on the highway, the dashboard illuminated with power steering & lane departure warnings. Upon this happening, the power steering did fail, and would not come back on regardless of the driving mode (2022 Hyundai Veloster N). Because of my high speed, I was able to navigate to an off ramp and pull off the road without incident. At slow speed, I was barely able to turn the steering wheel at all. Upon turning the car on and off, the issue would prove to be inconsistent. I was able to slowly and carefully get it to a parking lot, where it will remain, as it is not safe to drive. I tried contacting the only two Hyundai dealerships within 50 miles and could not get in touch with the service center (voicemails were left).

This problem has happened sporadically since the first instance described below. I was driving in the left lane at 65mph on the highway during a bend in the road. The steering when extremely stiff, which is extremely alarming on the highway. The car chimed and produced the messages, "check power steering" and "check lane departure warning system". From that point until I was able to stop somewhere safely, the vehicle had no power steering. Turning the car off and on is a short term remedy about half of the time, and the problem returns either immediately, or days later.

3 separate injectors have misfired, causing very low power to the acceleration of the vehicle, and creating a safety hazard to drive. There is a misfire engine light. The dealership has inspected these injectors and determined that the OEM parts are prone to misfire. This is a very common issue among, they point out, model year '22 Hyundai cars.

The vehicle intermittently enters a state in which Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA) and Power Steering simultaneously fail, indicated by lights and notifications on the cluster and resulting in complete loss of power steering. This malfunction can occur at any point in the vehicle's operation, which includes when the vehicle is parked, and lasts until the vehicle has had the battery disconnected or power has been turned off for at least 15 minutes, after which point the malfunction may still return upon next operation of the vehicle.

Driving the vehicle when arriving to my destination going a speed below 10 mph, the steering became extremely heavy and an alert showed on the cluster screen stating "power steering failed". I had to exert substantial physical effort to maneuver the vehicle to a safe location to investigate the issue. At that moment the Check Engine Light (CEL) did not illuminate, but I suspect there must have been at least a passive fault code stored in the computer regarding the malfunction. I turned off the vehicle, waited a while, and restarted it, at which point the issue was gone, still no CEL present. And, no cluster screen alert anymore either. Fortunately, this occurrence was at a point of the drive going low speeds, otherwise I would have worried for my own and my passengers' safety. I am aware of this issue affecting several owners of 2019 - 2022 Hyundai Veloster N vehicles many of whom may have reported the issue like I am at this time. This must be escalated and a safety recall be issued in accordance with regulations ASAP.

There have been two instances of fuel injector failures on the 2022 Veloster in within 20,000 miles. The first instance (cylinder 2) occurred at approximately 7,000 miles. The car experienced a sudden loss of power, followed by misfires and smoke from the tailpipe and the check engine light coming on during failure. The second instance (cylinder 1) occurred at approximately 19,000 miles. The car experienced a sudden loss of power, followed by misfires and smoke from the tailpipe and the check engine light coming on during failure. Both instances were repaired by the dealership under warranty. However this was a safety risk due to the immediate loss of power in the car and the inability to accelerate. Instances of fuel injector failures have been wide spread among owners of the Hyundai Veloster N and Hyundai Elantra N with 2.0T engines. There were no warning that the car would fail, prior to the actual failure. This is an important safety concern due to immediate loss of power while driving.

July 26th 2023 at around noon CDT, when I ran into a relatively heavy downpour. I was traveling at 65mph on a hwy before the rain, then slowed down to almost 50mph due to the rain. There was a vehicle behind me when all of sudden the my cars CEL started flashing, and the car lost power. I was unable to accelerate or maintain speed, and was almost rear ended as I tried to quickly pull off the road. Took it to the dealership the following day, to have the car checked out. With the car out of limp mode they couldn't do anything about it. So I took it to the car wash to see if the problem would come back, and it did. Car was in limp mode, and returned it back to the dealership where they looked it over talked there tech line, and reported there was no remedy for the problem I was experiencing. As of today, the vehicle still goes into limp mode going through car washes or heavy rains with no remedy on their end.
- Lane departure › Blind spot detection
After replacing the tires with the same size tires on the OEM wheels the blind spot monitoring system malfunctions. The lights in the side view mirrors flash and the audible blind spot warning alerts nearly every time the blinker is used. I have contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs and they claim there are no reports of issues.

- 11012045Certain Elantra N (CN7 N), Kona N (OS N), and Veloster N (JS N) vehicles may have DTC P1326 set due to water intrusion in the knock sensor connector during heavy rain or car wash conditions. There is no abnormal engine noise present, and the vehicle may enter limp home mode.
- 11011843N Vehicles are designed to maximize dynamic steering performance. In normal Ackerman steering geometry, the inner front tire turns more than the outer tire to help cornering in low-speed situations, i.e., parking lot maneuvering or sharp U-turns. N vehicles have a steering geometry optimized for performance driving. The N vehicles steering angle difference between the front wheels is reduced to enhance cornering performance. While this helps in high performance driving conditions, it can cause a higher level of tire side scrub that may create a slow shudder or vibration while turning at full steering lock. The feel is similar to turning a 4WD vehicle on dry asphalt when locked in 4WD. This shudder or vibration at parking lot speeds is normal, and no repairs should be performed. Additionally, the summer tires on the N vehicles can make the shudder or vibration more pronounced in cold ambient conditions.
- 11010977Some Veloster N (JS N) vehicles equipped with the AVN 5th Gen Wide system may exhibit a condition where the radio app crashes frequently when entering radio mode and/or displays a message that reads Uneven Road Ahead, Drive carefully on the cluster along with a warning sound. Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to update the AVN software to resolve this condition.
- 11009770Certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0L T-GDI Theta II engine may exhibit one or more misfire DTCs due to the injectors leaking internally. This may be caused by internal filter breakage in the injector. Follow the procedure in this TSB to replace all 4 injectors on affected vehicles, using the kit in the Parts Information section.
- 11008008A software update is available for multiple vehicles equipped with either Display Audio 2.0V or the AVN 5th Gen Wide system.
- 11007485A software update is available for multiple vehicles equipped with either Display Audio 2.0V or the AVN 5th Gen Wide system.
- 11006111Some vehicles equipped with the AVN 5th Gen Wide system may exhibit a condition where the radio app crashes frequently when entering radio mode and/or displays a message that reads Uneven Road Ahead, Drive carefully on the cluster along with a warning sound. Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to update the AVN software to resolve this condition.
- 11002708A software update is available for multiple vehicles equipped with either Display Audio 2.0V or the AVN 5th Gen Wide system.
- 10251285This bulletin contains information about the proper removal of the windshield wiper blade protective cover on all models. If the protective cover is not removed correctly, there is a possibility of the rubber insert and rail spring becoming partially separated on the inner side of the wiper blade, which could lead to poor wiping performance and/or possible scratching of the windshield glass. Follow the procedure in this bulletin to properly remove the windshield wiper blade protective cover on all new wiper blades.
- 10249699Some vehicles equipped with the AVN 5th Gen Wide system may exhibit a condition where the radio app crashes frequently when entering radio mode and/or displays a message that reads Uneven Road Ahead, Drive carefully on the cluster along with a warning sound. Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to update the AVN software to resolve this condition.
- 10247189This bulletin provides important checkpoint guidelines when performing engine oil and filter change services.
- 10235566Hyundai applies a Paint Protection Film (PPF) on new vehicles before delivery to dealerships. It provides a barrier between the paint and contaminants, such as rail dust, acid rain, and industrial fallout. In rare cases, the paint can become clouded under the PPF. These spots are the result of moisture trapped between the PPF and the paint.
- 10230904This bulletin provides information regarding condensation related to the accumulated moisture in the headlamp, rear combination lamp, daytime running lamp (DRL), or fog lamp. This TSB illustrates the various causes of condensation inside the lamp assembly. Lamp assembly replacement is NOT necessary in most cases. This condition can be eliminated by turning on the lamps with the engine running for several minutes or during normal driving operation.
- 10225459This bulletin outlines changes to the service manual regarding the replacement of 8-speed dual clutch transmissions (DCT) and associated transmission control module (TCM). Additional steps, not in the service manual, are required within GDS prior to replacing the DCT/TCM, otherwise drivability concerns and/or DTCs may occur.
