on 10/18/2026 I found gasoline dripping on hot parts of the engine. There was the distinct smell of evaporating gas. After thorough investigation I found a fuel leak at the lower part of the fuel tank where the pump module sits. The pump module is secured with a flange ring and 5 bolts. However, when disassembling the thank I found that the tank itself (a blow molded Poly Amid part) has no "molded in" metal flange ring just a plastic reinforcement (higher wall thickness to provide the flange plane). The tank developed a low spot (most likely distorted due to engine heat) where the pump flange wouldn't have enough clamp force equally around the flange. Fuel was seeping through that opening. When checking the NHTSA data base I found a similar incident on record (NHTSA ID 11429012, dated 12/16/2019.
2017 Duke 690 (Base model) with 5600 miles. After filling fuel tank, fuel spills out onto the rider while riding. Very noticeable smell of fuel for hours after riding on my clothes. Current recall, NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V388000 does not include my VIN. Several others report this problem on non-included VINs even including 2018 Duke 690's. I called an authorized KTM dealer and they refused to fix the issue because my bike's VIN is not listed on the current recall. Thank you, Guillaume
Fuel tank leak from bottom of fuel tank at the fuel pump gasket. The fuel tank has deformed and the gas tank cannot properly seal with the gasket for the fuel pump and as a result gasoline will leak out of the bottom if the tank. The gas then drips onto the electricals as well as the top of the motor.
