I own a 2018 Discovery Sport. For the past month once every week the vehicle when put in park mode. Will turn completely off, will shut off automatically sometimes with the shift gear button closing back up. I just experienced this 3 days ago. I was stopped at a red light, I noticed my car screen turn off and the shift gear button control go back. So the vehicle turned off completely on me while I'm in the middle of the street driving. it's first time it happened without being in the park mode. This is a safety matter the car behind me could have crashed into me because the vehicle turns off without any warning signals in the dashboard. I had to act fast put my emergency lights and restart the vehicle as fast as I could. To prevent a accident in the street. I am not sure if there is a recall on this issue but definitely needs to be looked at.

I continue to have an intermittent issue with my car throwing itself into park. It happened once in 2024, 2025 but now three times in the last two weeks. This is becoming incredibly unsafe as while driving the car puts itself into park while in motion. The insurance company will not repair due to it being intermittent. I do not know what to do but I need this documented for safety reasons

While driving approximately 30 mph in June 2024, my 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport unexpectedly displayed Gearbox Fault and Brake Fault warnings and shifted itself into Park while the vehicle was moving. The vehicle became immobilized in the roadway and could not be shifted out of Park for an extended period. The identical failure occurred again in July 2025 and July 2026. During the 2025 and 2026 events, the vehicle again became locked in Park and left me stranded. During the 2026 incident, the failure occurred twice within approximately fifteen minutes, and each event required approximately thirty minutes of repeatedly applying the brake pedal and cycling the electronic parking brake before the transmission would release. Land Rover dealerships have recovered transmission diagnostic trouble codes, including P099B-14 (Shift Solenoid G Control Circuit Low), and have repeatedly diagnosed the likely cause as an internal transmission valve body and/or internal transmission wiring harness failure. The Warranty Company - Fidelity Warranty Services (Carmax) has consistently refused to cover the repair of this vehicle stating that it must be replicated in front of the warranty technician. This is an intermittent issue which means it can not be replicated on demand. Instead of working with me, they continue to have me drive a vehicle which can put me and others at risk This failure has now occurred over three consecutive years and creates a significant safety concern because the vehicle can unexpectedly become immobilized and lose propulsion. I am submitting this complaint because I believe this may represent a recurring safety defect.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle experienced repeated electrical, ignition, and safety‑system malfunctions, including failure to start, intermittent power loss, stalling, battery failure, and irregular electronic behavior. Multiple components appeared affected, including the ignition system, battery/charging system, electrical wiring, and onboard diagnostic/electronic control systems. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, and police reports and repair documentation exist confirming ongoing issues. --- 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle became unreliable and unsafe to operate, with unpredictable starting, stalling, and electrical failures that could occur at any time. These defects created a risk of: • Being stranded in unsafe locations • Sudden loss of power while driving • Inability to start the vehicle during emergencies • Exposure to repeated dangerous situations for both myself and my child The ongoing defects directly compromised the vehicle’s safety and my ability to use it for normal transportation. --- 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The issues were repeatedly reported and observed during multiple repair attempts. Despite this, the dealership and service centers failed to correct the defects, and the problems continued after each visit. --- 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes. • Police reports were filed documenting incidents related to the vehicle’s malfunctioning. • Insurance representatives were involved following the accidents and repair disputes. • Dealership technicians inspected the vehicle multiple times but did not resolve the underlying defects.

Ever since I bought the car back in April 2022, it has been in the dealer for intermittent check engine lights due to problems with the engine and transmission. The car would go on a limp mode especially when driving on a highway at steady speed. It would rattle, slow down or will not accelerate even when pressing the gas. This happened to me multiple times and it’s a major safety concern. After multiple attempts at repairing and installing a new engine and transmission, the issue has not been fixed. This is the only car I have and I am not able to drive it reliably and at full capacity due to fear of malfunction again. The incident report date is only the latest date of the repair. The repairs have started back in 2023.

Vehicle was driving down the highway in early April of 2025 when the engine showed a sudden loss of power and diminished performance with misfires and rough running. Thankfully I was able to pull to the side of the highway before automobiles behind me rear-ended the vehicle after such a sudden loss in driving speed. it was later determined that at roughly 56,000 miles, the automobile suffered a cracked intake valve on cylinder 2, which fell into the engine. The recommendation was a complete engine replacement after the diagnosis was done by an authorized Land Rover service center. This occurred roughly 13k miles after the vehicle was serviced for persistent misfires and rough idling. The CVVL unit and PCV Assembly parts were replaced at that time.

My parents are [XXX] . They were coming home from there doctors appointment on [XXX] and traveling about 50 MPH heading home and all the sudden my father tried to press on the brakes to slow down and there was no brakes at all. He could not stop the vehicle and the ONLY thing that saved his and my moms life was the fact that the 2018 Land Rover discovery sport SE came to a hill and immediately as soon as the vehicle came up the hill my father turned the wheel to the right and the vehicle stopped after hitting one of those parking lot cement blocks right in front of a mechanic shop. When my parents got out of the vehicle they were so shook and scared for their life. A mechanic came out to ask if they were ok and they explained to the mechanic what had happened. The mechanic then, pushed the vehicle inside the garage and put it up on a lift and diagnosed it and then told my parents that the brake lines had blown and that it was unusual and that this was a manufacture problem and Land Rover needed to be contacted or for us to go online under this website and file a complaint. We may have to retain an attorney because my parents only bought this vehicle less then a year ago and already almost lost both of their lives due to the brakes going out and brake lines bursting. About a year and a half ago the vehicles warning lights started show thing like check engine, coolant low, battery low, engine overheating and the fan would start running very loudly and thw start stop feature stoped workong even though it indicated it was working. I took it to the dealership and they said they had fix whatever was wrong. A few months later it started up again but this time while going up a busy hill the vehicle started making a loud whining sound, was loosing power and eventually died completely. No lights no starter no nothing. Very dangerous for me and other drivers because it was a sudden stop.I had it towed to my home and the next day to the dealership. After a few days they called me and told me that the vehicle had experienced a "mechanical failure" and that Land Rover decided to ship a new engine to be installed. After a week I had what felt like a brand new car. Now a little over a year later the vehicle is doing the exact same thing with the warning lights, the fan, the loss of power, the stop start function not working, and this time it's no longer under warranty according to the dealership. I've decided to stop driving it because I'm afraid it may cut off during my drive to or from work in the freeway and get myself and or someone else killed.

The Power Transfer Unit(PTU) failed catastrophically at the rear pinion. This is available for inspection until it is repaired. This could have caused a major crash, at the time I was on the interstate only going 30-40mph and was able to get to the shoulder. But if I had been going faster there was a possibility of me pole-vaulting. Unknown The component is currently being inspected by the dealer. It wasn’t involved in a crash so the police/ insurance aren’t inspecting it. There were no warning lamps, before and after the incident. The only possible sign could have been a slight whining when the car was in lower gears. However that had been the case since the car was first bought. And when we asked the dealer they said it was normal.

I was driving and the vehicle car stalled it said gear box defect and switched from reverse to drive to neutral but would not move. I think this is dangerous since my car was already in drive and suddenly stalling could've caused an accident. Luckily there was no car behind me or it would have rear ended me.

The vehicle has a terrible delay when accelerating from a rolling stop between 8-11 mph. If you try to accelerate and the vehicle is at this speed, the delay is about 2-3 seconds before the transmission gets it into gear.

1) Acceleration lags 1-2 seconds when you step on the gas pedal - have been almost hit many times when taking off at a stop light or changing lanes - very dangerous on streets, but also on the freeway. 2) Issue with electrical since the day I purchased it brand new in 2018 - auto stop-start only worked one time - dealer checked the vehicle out, declared the feature requires a fully charged battery to work but did not investigate why the battery is not fully charging; over the past 2 years I noticed the radio often continues to play even when I push the off button, headlights have burnt out 3 times, radio changed from Satellite to AM automatically last week, and it sometimes smells like burned wires. The car was recently at the dealer for service and their inspection found no issues. I did not take it there specifically for the issues noted here, however would expect their 16-point inspection to pick up these types of issues. Possibly, I'm mistaken and the inspection is not that comprehensive.

1) Low Coolant warning started flashing. I had the coolant checked on two days by different people and it was full both times. Both times I was told its a sensor issue, the dealership service center should look into it and all components and replace as necessary. 2) Occasionally when putting the car in park it automatically shuts off and locks in gear. 3) Occasionally when yielding the car is sluggish or there is no power at all when taking off again. All three issues put my safety, those with me and on the road with me at risk. The earliest appointment with the dealer is 24 days out. I bought it as a Certified Used Vehicle 8 weeks ago.

This vehicle loses power while operating at any speed. while going 70mph out of nowhere it goes down to 40 within seconds with zero warning and 3 accidents have almost happened. it was "fixed" once by a local land rover dealer but has happened 3 times since. the "d" for the drive gear flashes red when this happens, it appears the vehicle IS going into lymp mode and IS absolutely unsafe to drive.
