Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC, 2016-2023 Explorer, 2019-2020 Fusion, 2019-2024 Ranger, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Owners will also have a alternative option to replace engine block heater element with a threaded blanking plug, and remove the block heater electrical cord. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed December 3, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated December 2026. After a rain the rear tail lights went out. Water is getting in the light and shorting out the lights. On line it is a known issue and Lincoln is handling it under warranty for 2024 - 2026 and listed as a safety issue. My 2022 is 3 weeks out of warranty and nothing is offered. The cost to correct over $2000 with no guarantee it won’t happen again.

Several problems have occurred, not sure if they are related or not. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In my opinion as a retired mechanic the problem components might include transmission, torque converter, accelerator or any electrical components associated with these systems. There were no warning lamps or messages related to the situation before or since. The following are my descriptions of the two issues: 1) In every day around town driving, mostly at lower speeds or after coasting, the transmission jerks, stutters and chugs. The sensation feels exactly like driving with a manual trans and trying to start from a stop in third gear. Related or not, it also seems to have a rough and jerky downshift as the vehicle slows down to stop. It happens EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, not just occasionally. 2) On a few other occasions, I stepped on the accelerator and got no response. One time I was at highway speed, let off to coast in traffic and got no response when I went to accelerate again. It felt like the transmission slipped into neutral or the ECM got no signal from the accelerator. I let off the accelerator and stepped on it again and it did accelerate the second time. In another situation, I was on a four-lane road attempting to turn left across two lanes of oncoming traffic. I was in a left turn lane on a green light, stopped and waiting for traffic to clear before starting to make my turn. As I let off the brake and started rolling to make my turn, an oncoming car changed lanes causing me to let off the gas momentarily. I was now into an oncoming traffic lane and when I went to accelerate the car did nothing. In fear of a head on collision I started to panic and stepped on the gas again with no response and then on a second attempt it did accelerate and I safely made my turn with horns blowing at me from the other car. That situation scared me half to death. Wickstrom Lincoln and Napleton Lincoln in Illinois have been unable to resolve.

No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic, where a transmission replacement was recommended. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where excessive metal debris was found inside the transmission, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied financial assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

They have since sent out a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB25-2154). No diagnostic codes are identified for the car, but since my car's extended warranty expired at 100,000 miles, I have a potentially dangerous car, where the torque converter may explode within the transmission and cause catastrophic failure. I drive XXX daily between [XXX], and [XXX], which is one of the most dangerous sections of the road. This problem is on top of 3 recalls for the rear camera. On February 5, 2026, the vehicle was involved in an accident in which the driver side was struck by another vehicle as it went through an intersection. The other vehicle was going approximately 40 mph when it impacted my vehicle. The driver side was impacted hard enough that the door would not open, yet none of the airbags went off. When the vehicle was towed to a collision repair center, the owner upon completing an estimate said he believed the airbags had malfunctioned, as the side airbags definitely should have gone off, and potentially the front ones should have, too. The vehicle is currently still at the collision center, but insurance has determined it to be a total loss and will be taking possession at some point in the near future.

My 2022 Lincoln Corsair has an open NHTSA recall (25V789 / Ford 25SC4) for a high-voltage battery cell internal short circuit that can cause sudden loss of motive power. There is currently NO remedy available. Before this recall was issued, my vehicle already lost power while I was driving on the highway, creating an immediate crash risk. This confirms the defect is active in my vehicle. In addition to the recall, the vehicle has experienced multiple major failures including: a long block engine replacement, HV battery program involvement, electrical system issues, axle/drivetrain repairs, and multiple CSP campaigns. These failures show a repeated pattern of serious defects. Lincoln Customer Relations and my dealership have stated they “cannot do anything” because there is no remedy, and told me I must continue driving the vehicle despite the documented highway shutdown. I am extremely concerned for my safety because the recall states that loss of power increases the risk of a crash, and I have already experienced this. I am filing this complaint because the vehicle is unsafe to operate, has an active safety defect with no available repair, and I have not been offered a safe resolution by Lincoln. Not often, but at least 1-2 times a year at slow speeds, the brakes fail to function. The pedal feels odd, and unresponsive usually under 5mph parking lot type speeds. Restarting the car resolved issue for the instance and it could be a year before it happens again. It’s scary, Google search brings this issue right up with a lot of complaints. This sounds like a future recall.

As soon as the vehicle's center display screen displays the boot up logo, immediately reinsert the same universal serial bus (USB) drive that was utilized during the prior failed programming attempt.

Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.

Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.

Push/pull effort must be applied to doors while closing to fully engage latch and turn off the ajar signal warning. If doors are still not fully latching closed, manually adjust door striker position to allow for proper alignment and engagement to the door latch. The door hang position may also need to be slightly adjusted to achieve the same effect. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-03.

- 10239477Some 2021-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit a condition where the high voltage battery stops charging when connected to level 1 or level 2 chargers with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2C94 stored in the secondary on-board diagnostic control module A (SOBDM). To restore charging capability, disconnect the off-board charging station charge handle from the vehicle charge port and reconnect. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in August 2023. Replacement of the SOBDM will not resolve this condition. Monitor OASIS for additional information.
- 10237977Some 2020-2023 Ford and Lincoln SYNC3 equipped vehicles may experience an inaccurate notification in the FordPass/LincolnWay app indicating Vehicle Has Entered Deep Sleep Mode. Vehicle Has Entered Deep Sleep Mode message is expected if the vehicle has not been started for 14 consecutive days, battery voltage is at/below 9.5 volts or the body control module (BCM) 12 volt battery state of charge (SoC) drops below 50%. If the vehicle is going into deep sleep outside these conditions, this may be due to the telematics control unit (TCU) software. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the TCU to the latest software. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
- 10237335Some 2022-2023 F-150/Bronco/Expedition/Navigator/Escape/Corsair/Bronco Sport/Edge/Mustang vehicles built on 04-Sep-2022 and through 30-Dec-2022 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0230 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). The vehicle may also experience a no start or stall after start. This may be due to an internal PCM issue. If this DTC is present, verify the battery condition, then perform pin point test (PPT) KC of the Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 310-01. If PPT KC leads to component replacement, start with replacing the PCM and then evaluate the vehicle. If the DTC returns, follow WSM, Section 310-01 PPT KC direction to address the issue.
- 10236579Some 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair, 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles may exhibit a condition where the door(s) do not open using the exterior door handle(s). This may be due to an enabled permanent engagement inertia lock within the exterior door handle, this condition occurs when the doors are closed or opened with excessive force. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to properly disengage the permanent engagement inertia lock clip to allow the exterior door handle(s) to fully extend and open the door(s) from the exterior.

The vehicle is not misbuilt. The addition of any parts is not a warrantable repair. Do not submit a claim for this condition.

These components can now be serviced separately and no longer require replacement of the entire roof opening panel frame.
