The driver side frontal air bag could inadvertently deploy increasing the risk of injury or loss of vehicle control if occurring while in motion.
Ford will notify owners and instruct them to take their vehicles to a ford or lincoln/mercury dealer to have a new clockspring jumper wire installed that incorporates a protective mesh cover. repairs will be performed free of charge. this safety recall began on some vehicles in march 2011. the recall campaign on the expanded population IS expected to begin on or about may 9, 2011. owners may contact the ford motor company customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332.

Once the brake booster vacuum reserve IS depleted, the driver will have foundation brake function, but with increased brake pedal effort. reduced vehicle braking could lead to a crash.
Dealers will replace a rubber hose on the brake booster vacuum supply tube assembly. the recall began on june 27, 2008. owners may contact ford at 1-800-392-3673.

Certain pickup trucks fail to comply with either the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 105, 'hydraulic and electric brake systems' or fmvss no. 135, 'passenger car brake systems.' these vehicles were built with a software error in the instrument cluster.
This error could prevent the antilock brake system (ABS) warning light from illuminating if the ABS module ever became inoperative.
Dealers will recalibrate the instrument cluster in these vehicles. the recall began on february 27, 2006. owners may contact ford at 1-800-392-3673.
On certain trucks, passenger cars and sport utility vehicles, the windshield wiper motor may have been produced without grease being applied to the output shaft gear.
After a period of continuous use on the high speed setting, lack of grease on the output shaft gear may cause the gear to distort or fracture during operation resulting in a loss of wiper function. inoperative wipers under inclement weather conditions could cause a crash due to impaired visibility.
Dealers will inspect the wiper motor for the presence of grease and grease the wiper motor gears if necessary. the recall began on november 22, 2005. owners may contact ford at 1-800-392-3673 or lincoln/mercury at 1-800-521-4140.

Additionally, the contact stated that the fuel tank could be filled. The contact also stated that the windshield wipers occasionally operated independently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the fuel sensor and the instrument cluster had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
Brake line located next to steering column IS so close the steering column rubbed and wore a hole into the brake line causing brake failure.
The fail safe engine light comes on when driving at any speed or when the fuel gage gets low. I have to turn my truck off, wait a few minutes , then turn it back on for it to cooperate correctly. While the light IS on it drives sluggishly.
During a 100K mile tune up, I attempted to change spark plugs. out of 3 plugs, 2 broke off in engine block. the truck was then taken to a mechanic who broke off 3 more. they told me that ford IS very aware of the problem and would not do anything about it. it cost me $800 to have spark plugs removed. now it appears that a part of the old plug broke off into the cylinder head, not removed by original shop, causing more damage that IS currently being looked at by another shop.

The engine stop running sometimes. It says "engine fail safe mode" need to completely stop and restart the engine.. Then okay.. it happens not only once but few times already..it happens when the car IS in motion..running around 40 to 60 miles mph.
In 2012, we bought a used mark LT with 60K miles. the vehicle since stalled twice after reaching 100K+ miles and draining two battery, shutting down the engine without warning at a low speed and while trying to turn. This rendered the brakes and power steering useless - we just barely avoided frontal collision with street signs and a bridge as well as almost being rear-ended by driver behind us. Fortunately, both were at low speed and on local rural roads. Also, the vehicle has began hesitating when accelerating mostly @ 45-50 mph. The dealership could not re-create issues after first incident and the diagnostics did not show any error codes. Ford issued tsb's in 2008 describing " the engine problems are the result of defects in the following vehicle systems and components: ...powertrain control module (pcm), ...transmission control module (tcm, ...electronic throttle control (etc) and/or the throttle body assembly" which can lead to the following performance and safety issues " acceleration hesitation, loss of revolutions per minute, stalling, loss of power (incl. Loss of power at high rate of speed), sudden and intermittent deceleration and other similar and potentially life threatening malfunctions." several complaints have been made directly to nhtsa. It IS irresponsible that the oem IS allowed to continue with this practice in the name of profit and IS not required rectify the defects immediately and continues placing customers in danger. The recent gm case should have taught us all a lesson.

While traveling on highway I35 and going 70mph, the vehicle turned off and slowing traffic going 65 to 70 behind me. The error code was engine on safe mode. *tr

I have a powertrain warranty for my truck an ford says I have sludge in engine an I gave them all oil change receipts my warranty IS up in oct 2011 an ford IS dying to fix it please help. *Tr
I picked up my truck from dealership for recall and warranty issues. Drove an hour and a half, parked my car. Returned home that hour and a half, came to a complete stop at a traffic light, close to home. While I was stopped the truck accelerated, now with both feet on the brake, I still hit the car ahead of me. Fortunately due to my quick reaction, the damage was only to my bumper. None to the other car. I called the dealership and asked them if when they had the dashboard all apart for 2 days, could they have done something? Of course they said no. They told me that my foot was probably on both the accelerator and brake at the same time? I looked at it and they are not that close together. Also I was already at a complete stop when it happened. I am to scared to get close to any car now. I have only drove the car as needed, for fear it might happen again. It's been 2 days now, it has not happened again. Yet. I have been with this truck since it was new, this never happened before. *tr
2006 lincoln mark LT went into "engine failsafe mode" for no reason. This created a very dangerous condition with the truck going into an idle. Pulled truck over and restarted engine. *Tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 lincoln mark LT. while driving 45 mph, the suspension loosened and the vehicle dropped to the ground. the tires began to skid and the vehicle struck a mountain and bounced back into traffic. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. after the vehicle was inspected, the contact was informed that the front strut was welded incorrectly. the purchase date was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 20,300. updated 01/14/08. *lj upon inspection, the welding was not properly fused to the shaft. Under stress the shaft came apart and locked the wheel. Welding on two sides of the shaft was not sufficient to hold the stress load. Updated *jb
While driving 60 mph a car made a left in front of our vehicle hitting us. I had a passenger in the truck with me. The front airbags on the other vehicle went off, while ours failed to do so. Nether the passenger or driver's airbags went off. *tr
TL*- the contact purchased a 2006 lincoln, it was leaking transmission oil. the vehicle caught fire after repair on 11/14. fire dept said the fire was of unknown origin. the vehicle had been driven 50 miles when the contact stopped to get gas when she noticed smoke entering the passenger compartment of the car and under the hood. she injured her knee trying to get her grandson out of his car seat. the fire department was call but did not arrive before flames were visible.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 5 mph, the brake was applied on the vehicle. however, the vehicle accelerated, causing the vehicle to collide with a garage door, causing substantial damage to the door. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to determine the problem. the contact expressed that the cause of the problem was that the brake pedal was too close to the accelerator pedal, causing inadvertent depression of the accelerator pedal when the brake was depressed.
Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle was purchased in a state outside of the where the vehicle resided. There was rusting on the frame of the windshield. When the sales dealer was contacted they referred the contact to the local dealer who referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer referred the contact back to the local dealership. the contact was concern that the vehicle showed corrosion in the interior and this problem could be in other places that could not easily seen.
Vehicle has vibration in steering when going about 50 mph and vibration gets worse faster the vehicle IS driven. Vehicle has had the vibration from the very first day it was purchased in december of 2005. Was told by the dealsership that vehicle needed tire balancing but that didn't solve the problem. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership about 6 times for the same problem since it was purchased. Dealership replaced two front tires on the lincoln' recmendation but that didn't not solve the problem. They also replaced drive shaft and transmission and steering dampners. They also did a tsb called indexing tires couple of weeks ago but vibration IS still there. I called lincoln out of fraustration and they told me they will get back to me after they speak with somone from the dealership. I recevied a call from lincoln and they told me that they have spoken to dealership and there IS nothing more to be done to the vehicle because ths IS how this type of truck drives. I refuse to accept that a $ 45,000 truck IS suppose to drive like this. I have searched this issue in ford and lincoln forms and this IS wide spread problem across both brands from ford motor company. *nm
