After a long drive, 250miles, stop to put fuel in the vehicle, I removed the fuel cap and gas blew out of the filler all over me, car, ground. Seems the fuel tank was under some kind of pressure. The pressure continued and I was not able to put fuel in the vehicle. If something would have ignited I would have been set on fire. Was not able to refuel the vehicle until the next day. This is a loaner car from the Mazda dealership. I experienced a problem like this with my 2024 CX-90 once but it would not allow me to put fuel in the vehicle. The pressure problem went away after a few minutes and I was able to refuel. Gas blowing out all over someone is going to get someone Killed. Have a witness that saw what I described above

Within 100 days of purchasing the CX70 new ,we noticed that the collision avoidance system was malfunctioning . It would alert when no car was near us . It did not alert every time a car was actually in our right blind spot or moving through our right blind spot . The malfunctions were random and happened in a variation of conditions and driving situations . We began to mistrust the system and continually disregarded many of its alerts . The old boy who cried Wolf sinerio. We took the car into a Mazda dealer in [XXX] ,FINDLAY MAZDA they told us that the system is malfunctioning but the software fix is not yet available from the manufacturer Mazda. We were told to wait for contact from Mazda to get the update . About two moths later we backed into a mailbox at slow speed and received no alert . This collision caused $600 damage to the right tail light . This incident prompted me to call Mazda customer experience to get our software update expedited. They resisted and continued with the unavailable narrative .I insisted and demanded a fix as this was a safety feature that is now an unsafe condition and also it is a very expensive feature on this car that we paid for and have not had the use of for several month to that point . A service appointment was arranged at Alan Webb Mazda in [XXX] . By the time of the appointment there were two other service recalls that needed to be accomplished on the vehicle so I approved that works also but the repair of the collision avoidance system was my primary concern and also Mazda had agreed to replace the tail light if in fact the system had malfunctioned . The next day the vehicle was ready for pickup (July30, 2026). When the vehicle was picked up at the service dept. I was told that there were no problems with the collision avoidance system . As of Aug 1,2026 the system is still malfunctioning in the same way as the two previous complaints . I believe they are hiding the truth about vehicle safety features. While unloading cargo from the rear of my 2025 Mazda CX-70, I activated the power liftgate(key was in pocket ) to close while i was reach back cargo . As the liftgate was closing, it struck me in my head and continued closing instead of stopping or reversing. I had to quickly move out of the way to avoid further injury. The obstacle detection feature did not appear to function as expected. I am concerned this could cause injuries to other owners, especially children or older adults. When I demonstrated my concern to the dealership using a soft pillow ( today when i wen to change oil 7-31-26), the liftgate compressed the pillow before reversing only a few inches. I remain concerned that the obstacle detection system may not provide adequate protection if a person is in the path of the liftgate.

Vehicle Information I am reporting multiple persistent safety-related defects in my 2025 Mazda CX-70 that began immediately after purchase and continue despite repeated service visits, software updates (including MSP66 on July 9, 2026), and good-faith repair attempts. These defects substantially impair the vehicle’s safety, drivability, reliability, and security. • Warning Lights & Phantom Braking: Brake messages and related warnings on the cluster appeared on the drive home from the dealership shortly after purchase, even with no obstacles present. Intermittent false warnings have continued. • Shifter / Transmission Behavior & Hard Shifting: Intermittently fails to engage Drive after Neutral (especially after car washes). The shifter moves to D but the vehicle remains in Neutral. Notable hard shifting and intermittent poor power acceleration have also been observed. Video evidence provided to dealer. • Door Lock & Latch Failures: Doors intermittently fail to lock or unlock via key fob or interior switches. Doors sometimes do not open when pulling handles. Auto-lock does not always engage. I have observed the vehicle automatically lock (audible sound and folding mirrors) only for it to be found unlocked the next morning. Passengers have been trapped inside on multiple occasions. These issues raise serious entrapment, safety, and theft concerns. • Hybrid System / i-Stop Malfunctions: Repeated MyMazda app alerts for “Hybrid system malfunction. Vehicle would not restart from I-Stop shut down causing me to have to put it back into park and restart the vehicle. • i-Active system failures: The i-Active system occasionally disengages even during clear weather. Dealership states this can sometimes happen due to direct sunlight and sensors? • During a previous discussion with Mazda Customer Care, they stated that they notes a previous power train failure on their end which I was unaware of.

Multiple instances while driving on the highway with cruise control and lane keep assist on - on a bend slight turn the car veered into the other lane across the lane lines - even with other cars present. Additionally, it does not auto steer away from a blind spot collision - had I not noticed the car there would have been an accident.

This happens often. On a trip to Florida of 1200 miles, it happened 12 times each way. After being slowed in the right lane by a car in front driving slower tan my set cruise speed, I signal and move to an empty (in front of me) left lane. Instead of accelerating to resume my set cruise speed, the…
This happens often. On a trip to Florida of 1200 miles, it happened 12 times each way. After being slowed in the right lane by a car in front driving slower tan my set cruise speed, I signal and move to an empty (in front of me) left lane. Instead of accelerating to resume my set cruise speed, the car decelerates abruptly by as much as 10 mph. If a car is following me and most logically is expecting me to accelerate after moving to the left lane, that car's driver is surprised and risks rear ending me. I took the car in to service this issue. Mazda has a Service Alert (SA-007/24. The conclusion of the SA is basically it is what it is. I think that this is a serious safety issue. I have a 2016 Subaru Outback with adaptive cruise control and it never does this. Maxda's system is deficient. The NHTSB should analyze and compare adaptive cruise control systems.

While driving at a speed just under 45 mph, my Mazda CX-70 suddenly displayed and chimed “Hybrid System Malfunction. Have Vehicle Inspected.“. This warning startled me because I am familiar with issues since I had briefly owned a CX-90 PHEV the first year this model came out and it had the same exact problem. I discovered that this issue carries serious safety concerns and ended up convincing the dealer to swap the vehicle for a CX-90 inline 6 gas only model after hours of pleading. I ended up signing up for another lease a couple of years later with this current CX-70 PHEV, as I was told that the “bugs” have pretty much been worked out so I would give it another try. This warning continued to stay on as I drove for a few minutes so I immediately took the car straight to the Mazda dealership service department where it was kept 24 hours. The dealer said that the issue resolved itself - something to do with not driving the vehicle interchangeably enough between gas and EV mode. The photo was taken once I slowed down to stop at an intersection since it took me 15 minutes to drive to the dealer.

This has occurred numerous times. Using the adaptive cruise control, the vehicle decelerates as I approach a slower moving vehicle. That is what it should do. When I move from the right lane to the open left lane, instead of accelerating back to the set cruise speed, the car decelerates as much as 10 mph before finally regaining its mind and accelerating to the set speed. I have had cars following me that are expecting my car to accelerate that are surprised that the car decelerates. This happens on straight roads with no car ahead of me in the left lane.
- Steering
The steering wheel on the car will often get stuck and not return to the normal position when turning. Happens at low speeds on on/off ramps and at interstate speeds when the road slightly shifts. “Jerking” the steering wheel is often required to get the car to drive straight and return to normal driving position.

The vehicle has engaged the automatic braking feature multiple times while in a parking garage and when in the middle of a four-way stop despite there being no cross traffic or moving vehicles around my vehicle. In two instances, there was a vehicle behind mine that the breaking could have led to me being rear-ended and in the case of the four-way stop, there were other vehicles waiting to cross that could have hit me from behind or on the side. The vehicle was taken to the local Mazda dealership who had the vehicle for approximately 3 weeks trying to identify a fix and was subsequently told to pick up the vehicle without a fix being performed. I was informed after that time that Mazda was aware of this being an issue for multiple owners but did not have a solution to resolve it. I was told to wait to be contracted at some point in the future about an identified repair or recall. This is a serious safety issue that could lead to a collision and Mazda has stated that they do not have a solution to the problem.

- Lane departure › Assist · Steering
Lane assist system acts on it's own and attempts to override my input. It can be very jarring especially at high speeds. I notice the issue mostly when I'm on the highway/freeway and attempting to lane change or take an exit ramp. The system trys to correct my steering and I have to briefly fight against it to maintain control.

I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned Mazda CX-70 that exhibits intermittent and unpredictable steering behavior, creating a significant safety concern. The steering will intermittently stiffen and then pull the vehicle left or right without driver input, at times toward oncoming traffic or the breakdown lane, requiring immediate correction. On straight roads, the vehicle does not consistently track and will drift unpredictably. When driving over minor road variations (such as small bumps or frost heaves), the steering wheel may jerk suddenly in the opposite direction. The vehicle also intermittently behaves as though lane-keeping assistance is active—auto-correcting relative to lane lines—despite all lane assist features being turned off. In multiple instances, the vehicle has tracked erratically along lane lines or navigated slight curves without driver input. The issue occurs unpredictably but is more pronounced on rural or uneven roads and during initial driving, though it can persist on highways as well. The issue caused several near miss accidents-twice it sent my vehicle careening into oncoming traffic; another time it tried to drive me back toward a pedestrian I was driving around intentionally. Driver has to be at constant heightened attention to avoid accident. Multiple repair attempts were made, including replacement of the steering column. The condition temporarily improved but returned and worsened. During the final repair attempt, dealership foreman, master technicians, and manufacturer technical support were involved, and the condition was ultimately deemed a “characteristic” with no repair available. The vehicle remains unrepaired and unsafe to operate. The dealer is refusing to supply the customer with any details of the repair order and diagnostic work that was done. The manufacturer has agreed to repurchase the vehicle under lemon law, confirming the defect could not be resolved.

Others reported dealer has had software updates however issues remain which is a safety concern when on the road. Suspension frond end mild early on 500 miles or so however has gotten louder at 12k miles. Vehicle seems to be to heavy for the type of suspension used or defective suspensions parts. Many complaints filed on the front end noise however Mazda has not announced recalls. Stock tires Toyo All Weather are a safety hazard. Slippery in the rain and snow. These are not safe for a vehicle this size. Doors do not have insulation, road debris comes inside and all the cold air or wind makes it in through the side and bottom doors.

I have put on over 20,000 miles since I purchased new in September 2024. The entire time of ownership, I have dealt with false blind spot warnings. With a clean car/clean sensors, it doesn't matter the time of day/night... when driving at highway speeds, the right rear blind spot warning comes on intermittently even when driving in the right lane of interstate with only the shoulder of the interstate next to me and no other obstructions. When this happens while in the passing lane and believing there is nobody next to me and I put on the blinker and try to switch lanes.... it alarms me saying there is something in my blindspot. These are false readings, that make this "safety feature" a safety concern. Sometimes, the car even tries to pull me back in my current lane even though there is nothing in sight in the lane I'm trying to switch to. The I have had the car to the dealership approximately 4 times for this ongoing issue and they claim they are unable to replicate the problem. I have read numerous other complaints reporting the same issue, and Mazda has not developed a fix to date.

On the morning of January 28, 2026 I arrived to work and came to a complete stop in my works parking garage. I used my key card to raise the gate. Once the gate was fully raised I pressed the accelerator to drive up the ramp. Shortly after accelerating, my engine revved really loud and high rate, then my car automatically increased speed. I immediately pressed the brake pedal but it didn’t stop. It continued accelerating at a speed not controlled by me with my brakes not engaging even though I was pressing the brake as hard as could. I estimate I travel about 100’ with no control of the gas or brake. It lasted about 15-20 seconds. If a car were in front of me at that time, I would have crashed into them because I could not stop the car. I immediately called Davis Moore Mazda. I had the vehicle towed there because I didn’t feel safe driving it. Information from my cars computer program was sent to Mazda. Mazda didn’t see any issues and their diagnosis was a foot was likely on the accelerator causing the acceleration. The general manager called me to discuss. He said the only thing that registered was acceleration. I asked does the computer show my attempt to brake (stop) the car. His response was the computer wouldn’t read that because that was a normal driving process that wouldn’t be recorded. I asked why the acceleration would trigger an alert in the computer, since acceleration is also a normal driving process. He then said the computer picked it up because it accelerated quickly. There were no warnings present prior to this issue.

I had my car only for 4 months, but the windshield glass is broken when the car was parked on my driveway couple days ago I usually only drive my cars during weekends so the windshield glass broke without any forcing. I was asked to bring to Mazda dealer, the 495 Mazdas at Lowell MA. The technician couldn’t find any cause leading to broken windshield. I took the car to safelite shop. The inspection report is same and believe it is most likely due to quality issue. However Mazda service was not willing to repair. Very poor and disappointing customer support!
Service bulletins
Technical service bulletins and other communications the manufacturer sent dealers about this vehicle. Ask a dealer for the full document by its number.
- 11011141Some customers may report concerns with interior upholstery surface stains particularly on high contact areas (e.g.: seats, steering wheel, door panels, shifter...etc.). This may be caused by skin oils or chemicals such as hand lotions.
- 11011140When the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) replacement is necessary due to a failure, use MDARS to activate the new TCU after replacement. Use the information in this service alert to initialize the new TCU until the procedure on MGSS is updated.
- 11011138Some customers may complain about any of the following: 1. Infotainment Center Display does not provide the Authorization Code (OTP) during the MyMazda App Connected Vehicle enrollment. 2. Remote function(s) inoperative. Engine Start / Stop Door Lock / Unlock Lights ON / OFF Climate Control 3. MAZDA CONNECT connected vehicle reception strength icon shows "X" or "\".
- 11010995The CX-70 and CX-90 have new and revised features that are different from previous models and may be difficult to understand. This Service Alert provides valuable information to support potential dealer and customer concerns.
- 11010993Some vehicles may exhibit misalignment (in any direction) between the rear end of the front door glass run-channel (1) and the front end of the rear door glass run-channel (2).
- 11010989Some customers may complain that the heater does not work properly and that a warning about a hybrid abnormality appears on the Instrument Cluster. Upon inspection, the vehicle may have DTC P0AA6:00 (High voltage insulation malfunction: Decrease in vehicle insulation resistance) stored in memory. This may be caused by an internal meltdown of the water heater. To eliminate this concern, the water heater heat dissipation performance has been enhanced.
- 11010987Some customers may experience a chatter (metallic knocking) noise from the underbody area when driving on rough roads. This may be caused by the contact between overlapping sections of the exhaust system insulators (Front No.1 and No.2) due to vibration. There is no mass production change planned.
- 11009657The right-side hood strut features a two-step mechanism for opening and closing. The first step is for general, the second step is for service mode. When you open the hood, after completing the hood in service mode, the stay damper might rattle because it loses internal pressure support to the hoodfender- strut system. This is normal operation and not a sign of any malfunction, no parts should be replaced.
- 11009656This Parts Flash replaces Parts Flash 24-01R1 dated September 19, 2024. Due to a manufacturing change, the CX-70 and CX-90 transmission has undergone a transmission part design change when replacing the transmission assembly. The new/superseded design can be used in place of the old/original design as the coolant hose (D-Code 21-5LX) is no longer needed to be used. Transmission part numbers beginning with supersession level A have had this change.
- 11009655This service information provides testing and charging procedures in order to promote proper battery maintenance, to deliver new vehicles with fully charged batteries, and to reduce unnecessary battery replacement cost. For new vehicles in stock at the dealer, inspect and maintain the batteries periodically according to the repair procedure.
- 11009652Some vehicles may experience a transmission warning light on or flashing in the instrument cluster with no DTCs after a full transmission replacement. This will affect the configuration or learning with MDARS.
- 11009650This Service Alert provides information for the following symptoms. Although Battery State of Charge (SOC) is full, Maximum Driving Distance Display shows 1 mile (1 km). Although Battery SOC is full, the vehicle cannot drive using EV mode (using electric motor power only) and will use HEV mode (using both electric power and a gas engine. This is caused by low ambient temperature and low battery temperature. EV mode is suspended until the battery warms up to protect it from degradation and the gas engine will power the vehicle. This is normal operation. If the battery pack is able to warm up, EV mode will start and the display will change to show the correct Maximum Driving Distance Display for EV mode.
- 11009648Some customers may experience a grunt or grind noise when the transmission shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear. The grunt-type noise is produced during the 2nd gear engagement. This issue will not affect the driveability or reliability of the vehicle. The vehicle is safe to drive. It is OK to release the vehicle back to the customer.
- 11009646Some vehicles may exhibit poor hands-free liftgate operation after a Mazda genuine trailer tow hitch accessory installation. IMPORTANT: When a Mazda genuine trailer tow hitch is installed on a CX-90 equipped with hands-free liftgate function, the sensing area is reduced due to the mechanical structure of the hitch. The hands-free liftgates optimal sensing area below the rear bumper is shown in green boxes in the image below. Since the left side of the hitch has a 7-pin connector socket, the right side is the most ideal for hands-free operation. For safety, be extra careful performing the kicking motion around the hitch.

- 11009642Due to a manufacturing change, the CX-70/CX-90 transmission has undergone a transmission part design change when replacing the transmission assembly. Old design originally required a coolant line running to the top of the bell housing, the new design has omitted the hole and need for the coolant line. The new/superseded design can be used in place of the old/original design and the coolant hose is no longer needed to be used.
- 11009639Some vehicles may experience stains appearing on the hood, roof and/or trunk of the vehicle. This concern is most likely to be found in a cold weather areas just after the RAPGARD is removed at PDI. This may be caused by moisture which has been trapped and condensed between the paint and the RAPGARD. These types of stains can be removed with a heat gun or an infrared drier. If you encounter this concern during PDI, use a heat gun or an infrared drier to apply heat to the affected area to remove the stain(s).
- 11009638Some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the rear end of the rear glass panel on the panorama sunroof. - 11008427After an HV inverter replacement, there is no instruction in the WSM to perform Initial Learning of the Electric Motor Speed Sensor. This is required after replacing the inverter or electric motor. As a result, when attempting to start the vehicle, the Internal combustion (ICE) engine will start and then stop with DTC P0C17 stored. If this DTC is set, refer to P0C17:00 [SGC2/DMCM (e-SKYACTIV PHEV)] in the troubleshooting manual. NOTE: When attempting to complete the Learn of Electric Motor Speed Sensor with MDARS, it will be unsuccessful until the vehicle is shut off and left undisturbed for 1-2 hours. Make sure the 12V battery is fully charged and the EV battery is charged, then connect the battery and wait a minimum of 1-2 hrs with the ignition OFF before proceeding directly to the relearn procedure. DO NOT start the engine until directed to do so in the relearn procedure.
