Risk
A sudden reduction of braking performance may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, flush and clean the ABS hydraulic unit using high grade brake fluid, free of charge. If the inspection shows that the valves may seize, the ABS unit will be replaced. The recall began on July 21, 2015. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-15-004.

Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect to see if the left rear fuel tank strap mounting bracket has splitting beyond a specific limit. vehicles with moderate to severe splitting will be repaired using a reinforcement cap, a special structural adhesive, and a rivet to reinforce the fuel tank mounting bracket. The recall began on september 20, 2008. owners may contact mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037.
On certain vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, the key lock cable was improperly manufactured and may not allow the cable end to lock into the floor shifter mechanism. this can result in the interlock system to become inoperative and allow the ignition key to be removed without the gearshift mechanism being placed in the park position.
Risk and remedy

If the driver does not shift to park before removing the key and fails to engage the parking brake, the vehicle could roll and a crash could occur.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the ignition interlock cable and replace it if necessary. the recall began on november 20, 2006. owners may contact mitsubishi at 1-888-648-7820.
On certain passenger vehicles, the metal forming part of the front crossmember may have been improperly stamped resulting in the metal becoming thinner in the cross-section than specified. this could, over time, result in breakage of the crossmember.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Breakage of the crossmember may allow separation of the passenger side lower control arm, which may result in the loss of steering control increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the crossmember free of charge. the recall began on september 21, 2006. owners may contact mitsubishi at 888-648-7820.

I was driving 55 to 60 mph, then let off the gas to take my exit and was down to about 20 mph when my brakes failed, and I couldn't stop at the light at the end of the ramp. The pedal went all the way to the floor, so I pumped them 2 or 3 times and as I was letting off the break, it started whistling. It sounded like a cross between an accordion and an asthmatic episode. I was already close to school, so I drove to the parking lot and parked. The only way I could slow down and stop was to continuously pump the breaks. I wasn't having nor ever had issues with my breaks before that day.

I understand there IS a long line of people that have this same model and year car as me, have been through this same issue and there IS no recall. I stopped at the mitsubishi dealership where I purchased my car and they told me it was too dangerous to drive on them. I asked about a warranty and they told me there was none. When vehicle IS left in ambient temperatures above 85 degrees, attempting to raise or lower the convertible top IS sometimes interrupted when the power tonneau cover door reaches the open position, resulting in complete inability to complete the operation. Tonneau cover door remains locked in the raised position making driving vehicle impossible. When pulling over to raise top with rain approaching, this becomes dangerous, as raising the top to up and locked position must be done manually, a process that takes upwards to about 20 minutes. The sensor switch located on the piston for the tonneau cover door IS the problem, it sometimes shows the door partially opened in warm temperatures, giving a false reading, stopping the movement of the top. My car was taken to the dealership twice with this problem. It IS hard to recreate, unless the car IS left outside in high temperatures. The piston has been replaced. There are currently no tsb's for this problem, yet I am aware of at least one other car, same model and year with the identical problem that was at the same dealership as mine at the same time. *tr

Front brakes squeal and squeak badly when slowly braking since september 2006. I have taken vehicle to dealer X6 times with the same issue. Dealer continues to say its because I "ride" my breaks. I've had the rotors resurfaced X2, rotors replaced X1, brake pad X3. The brakes today 07/01/08, continue to squeal and squeak, dealer states, the brakes have good pad, but rotors need to be resurfaced due to "glaze" they replace them in dec. 2007 (its been 10,000 miles later) and dealer says I need to pay for resurfacing. The back brakes makes loud noise when in reverse. I reported, but dealer did not follow up. *tr

The TSB outlining the warranty extension will be available December 19, 2013 on MEDIC and MDL. Notification letters will be sent to owners of affected vehicles, notifying them of the catalytic converter extended warranty.

If this occurs, the MIL will illuminate with DTC P0421 or P0431, "Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold" stored in the PCM. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is extending the catalytic converter warranty only on affected vehicles currently registered in certain states from 8 years / 80,000 miles to 10 years / 120,000 miles.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) integrated key case and FAST Key Transmitter case repair kits are now available. If the plastic parts of the key are broken or missing, but the key functions properly, use the appropriate service parts kit instead of replacing the entire key assembly. When replacing only the key case, it is not necessary to program immobilizer, RKE and OSS functions. For integrated RKE keys, once the electronic components are transferred to the new case, the key can be cut to the vehicle's key code.
