Vehicle description: sport utility vehicles. The accumulator that IS installed on the hydraulic brake booster may have been improperly manufactured which, over a period of time, could result in leakage of the pressurized nitrogen gas from inside the accumulator.
The loss of this gas pressure could result in an abnormal noise from the left side of the dash panel when the brakes are applied, and possibly a delayed first time brake boost assist after the vehicle has been parked for a period of time.
Dealers will install an improved accumulator. owner notification began october 1, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact mitsubishi caribbean at 1-787-251-8715.
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. some of these vehicles are equipped with outside rearview mirrors on the passenger side which do not comply with the requirements of fmvss 111, "rearview mirrors."
This limits the driver's field of vision on that side of the vehicle.
Dealers will replace the rearview mirror.

(1) started hearing noises from both front wheel hub assembly's (front wheel bearings) (2) took it to my local firestone service station where they identified the problem - they told me it would get worse if I kept driving it, but at the time I could not afford $312/per bearing plus labor = over $800 in repairs. I drove the car 2 more days and the wheel bearings locked up on me while driving - the car almost came to a sudden stop, veered off to the left of the road... (3) I found the parts cheaper on the internet ($233/per hub) and had a local mechanic install them and saved hundreds. **while searching for the parts, I found several other bulletins, notices even on the nhtsa website, and plenty of unhappy 2001 montero customers that have had to spend nearly $1,000 to replace both hub assembly's **i think this IS ridiculous that these hubs are going bad for such a new vehicle... why isn't this being recalled?????
Dt: the contact states she owns a 2001 mitsubishi montero sport. the contact's vehicle was involved in an accident as a result of the brakes not working. when applying the brakes they would not stop the vehicle. the contact was pumping the brakes to try to get the vehicle to stop, but it would not come to a complete stop. this caused the contact's vehicle to hit another vehicle that wstopped in front of contact's vehicle. the dealership stated that the vehicle was totaled. the manufacturer said that they had nothing to do with the brakes. also, she stated that the front driver side air bag did not completely deploy. the vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the brake or the air bag failures. *Ak
