My 2006 suzuki m109r had been jumping out of 2ND gear, into neutral when I accelerate, and the rear wheel locked up after that, which put me into a 150' skid on the highway, which was very unsafe, and I could have easily died as a result of this serious, re-occurring mechanical failure that suzuki does not want to be responsible for. suzuki needs to be responsible for covering these common, unacceptable, high-risk safety problems, before others are injured, or killed, and then they get sued for it. this IS a very dangerous situation, and it cannot be taken lightly, if you are a suzuki m109r owner, we need to get together, and hold suzuki accountable for this faulty design. the suzuki m109r has a lot of torque, and power, and it should have been equipped with a more robust, heavy duty transmission, that would have been safe, but it was not, and suzuki needs to fix the problem responsibly. attached picture shows 150' skid mark.

I have a 2006 m109r that has a major defect in the powertrain. This bike only have a little over 5,000 miles on it and it tends to fall out of second gear back into neutral. This IS very unsafe and could very well cause you to loose control of the bike. There has been a number of people that I have come across with the same issue. Suzuki needs to address a recall concerning this issue before someone gets hurt or killed. This will be the last of any suzuki product that I will ever purchase for now or the near future because they or not standing behind there brand even if it IS a risk to many people lives across the country.

I am the owner of a 2006 suzuki boulevard m109r and I have been having trouble with my transmission for over a year now, my second gear does not stay engaged , as soon as I shift into second gear and accelerate it goes back into neutral, I attempt to shift into second gear again and the same thing happens all over again, no second gear, apparently I am not the only owner who's having this problem from what I've read on the internet on many different forums and local friends that have the year, make and model motorcycle as mine. It IS very unsafe to shift from first to third gear, not to mention the wear and the stress it puts on the motorcycle and possibly causing more mechanical issues.

Purchased the bike in late june with less than 1800 miles. Got a vibration feel & small tapping noise a couple days later. Took back to dealer & they didn't feel it or hear it. Then in sept went for a short ride with a friend & it started knocking & trying to stall out. Called the dealer & with lots of problems finally got them to diagnose it. It needs the motor rebuilt with pistons, rods & crank. They had done the turn up & changed the oil before we picked it up after purchase and they didn't seem to see any problems then. Don't know how it could need the motor rebuilt with less than 2500 miles on it. The motor isn't even broke in yet. Has there been any problems with this? I am having to shell out $3500 for repairs I don't feel I should and aren't my fault. *tr

TL* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki boulevard m109r motorcycle. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the motorcycle would lunge forward whenever he shifted into second gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the clutch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but shortly after, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 10,000.

The bike would jump horribly when in second gear. After about a hundred miles riding like this, now the bike will jump into neutral while I'm riding in second gear; very dangerous. This problem has been reported by hundreds, if not thousands, of suzuki m109r riders. Suzuki should pay for this now! *tr

This problem has progressively got worse. the bike will slip out of second gear into neutral while accelerating. it has gotten to the point that I can barely accelerate in second without it slipping out, so I shift up to third as quick as I can to prevent this from happening. I remember reading when the bike first came out that it had transmission issues specifically with second gear. *tr

While leaving work I was shifting out of 1ST gear and while going into second gear the bike popped out of second gear and made a loud grinding noise. After it popped out of gear I had to put my foot down in order to keep from falling over cause I was in the middle of a turn when this happened. When I put my foot down I twisted my knee. I spoke with a suzuki customer service representative this morning and told him I wasn't angry about my knee hurting as it exacerbated an old injury I received whilst in basic training with the air force. I just wanted some answers but alas I was provided none. He told me that he was sorry and whatnot but didn't offer any fixes for the issue. This bike has a dangerous flaw and they need to recall these bikes before someone gets a major injury or gets killed. *tr

Bike shifts hard into 2ND gear. Once in gear the bike surges and bucks like the transmission IS slipping. Sometimes it slips out of gear into neural. Mostly it stays in gear but bucks so bad I get wheel spin. Once in 3RD gear the problem stops. I have seen hundreds of online posts detailing the problem but I've never seen a solution in how to fix it. *tr

Well as you probably already have some complaints I have the same problem with my suzuki m109r, it's hard going into second gear and wine I'm in 3RD gear it slips into neutral. *tr

I purchased the suzuki m109r brand new, within 2 months I begin having problems with the 2ND gear slipping out. I took the bike to dealership immediately, with no positive results. In 2006 they claimed that these problems were not apparent to suzuki. I recently found pass invoices from dealership that explained that there had not been any defects or complaints referring the transmission in 2006. I was offered a one time "goodwill" service due to the fact that the bike was brand new. I got my bike back and within 8 months the 2ND gear started slipping out of gear, so I skipped 2ND gear and went straight to 3RD. As of 2009 the bike has been sitting with a transmission that IS defected and badly in need of repair. This bike IS a very powerful bike and I feel the transmission was not made efficient enough for the power that this engine carries. I deeply enjoyed the bike, I just want my bike fixed. I am in the process of looking for a transmission, but the nhtsa needs to be aware and I believe odi needs to open an investigation in regards to this motorcycle and model because this IS a hazard and very dangerous to the driver and public. *tr

I could have been killed suzuki say this IS not a common problem... The m109riders.com tells a different story there are forums there that explain the problem... Suzuki needs to be held responsible. *tr

I ride a 2006 suzuki m109r 1800cc motorcycle and two days ago the transmission slipped out of gear. It has slipped out of every gear except fifth when applying medium amount of throttle. It happened when accelerating away from a stoplight. I was behind other vehicles so I was not racing the engine when shifting. I had to negotiate my bike to the side of the road out of traffic from the fast lane in neutral. With the drivers nowadays tailgating you to get to the latest new store opening having a motorcycle completely slip out of gear while every other vehicle around you IS accelerating IS dangerous. I had three cars nearly sideswipe me while coasting to the side of the road. Scary. You bet. I think with less than 4100 miles suzuki needs to rethink their quality issues with m109r transmissions before someone gets killed or seriously injured. I am sure a recall would be cheaper than litigation for a death. *tr

The dealer repaired the transmission but he put in the same parts that was in the bike before. The bike only had 8,800 miles on it. I have bee told the same thing will happen again because suzuki has not up graded the transmission parts. This would happen when you try to go into second gear. *tr

I was riding my motorcycle, (2006 suzuki m109r boulevard) on I465 in the middle lane at approximately 12:30 pm. I heard a loud thud and all of the sudden my rear wheel locked completely up. My rear end slid out to the right, but somehow I was able to countersteer the motorcycle and keep it upright. With just pure luck I was able to reach the shoulder of the interstate after sliding for about 100 feet with no bodily harm. After looking at the motorcycle I realized that the swing arm (which houses the drive shaft), had broken completely and caused the back tire to lock up. I did some research online, and have found that I am not the only person that this has happened to. There are many instances on the website m109riders.com with pictures that are identical to the incident that I experienced. The break in the swing arm happened in the exact spot that all of the others did. *Tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 suzuki boulevard m109r. while driving 25 mph, the turn signal light lenses fell off the vehicle. the dealer replaced the lenses in the past, but refuses to any more. the contact feels that the lenses will continue to fall off the vehicle and prevent him from using the turn signals. the current mileage was 14,500 and failure mileage was 500. updated 062909 *bf updated 07/01/09.*jb

My motorcycle regularly will not move from a stopped position (in traffic, e.g. Lefthand turn at an intersection) when I release the clutch to engage first gear. This problem started when it was 2 weeks old in 2006. The problem continues, it happens at least once a day, I ride only to work 22 miles from home. Please help, somebody will get run over who IS not familiar with their bike yet, as you cannot get out of the way of oncoming cars within a reasonable amount of time when it occurs. fyi - I filed a complaint in 2006 or 2007, at the time I did not include the vin. I feel very strongly about this safety issue. *Tr
