American suzuki IS recalling 9,109 my 2008 gsx1300r motorcycles. improper routing of the ignition switch wiring harness can cause a bent portion of the wiring harness to flex rather than slide when the handlebar IS moved from right to left or left to right. repeated side-to-side movement of the handlebar, and flexing of the bent portion wiring harness…
This can result in intermittent or complete loss of electrical power, which can result in loss of lighting and/or stalling of the engine, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the ignition switch lead wire routing. if the lead wire harness IS incorrectly routed, dealers will replace the lower portion ignition switch (which contains the ignition switch lead wires) and make sure that the wiring harness IS properly routed. the recall began on june 10, 2008. owners may contact american suzuki at 1-800-255-2550.
I just call suzuki 714-572-1490 to receive service on a recall for my motorcycle they deny to gave me the service because they cant find the vin number. This motorcycle has a 2 recall one for the voltage regulator that may cause an explosion and the other one for ignition key. *tr
Suzuki boulevard m109r year 2008. The motorcycle would violently shake when leaving from a complete stop. Though it IS not very consistent. It only happens once in a while. It happened again at 7/11/08 when my girlfriend was riding with me, and I fear for her safety as the motorcycle IS not very responsive when this defect happens. I've taken the motorcycle to the dealer and they reported that they couldn't recreate the problem. This problem IS consistent for this model according to the members of m109riders.com, they reported that it IS a clutch hub defect and that the springs in the hub IS not sufficient for the motors power. I truly am concerned about this problem escalating because of safety. The ability of the motorcycle to respond when needed IS critical to the riders safety. *tr
