Van hool IS recalling 149 my 2004-2007 c2045, t2140, and t2145 motor coaches equipped with doga windshield wiper systems. linkages were poorly finished. this could lead to a misalignment of the windshield wiper system, blocking the motor.
Risk and remedy
Risk
Failure of the wiper linkages will lead to wiper system breakdown. the operator will have reduced visibility which could result in a crash.
Remedy
Van hool IS working with doga and doga will replace the wiper motor free of charge. the recall began on july 23, 2008. owners may contact van hool (abc companies) at 1-407-656-7977.
On certain motor coaches equipped with detroit diesel series 60 engines, the turbocharger compressors installed in these motor coaches can fail.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A fire can result should the turbocharger fail.
Remedy
Detroit diesel IS conducting this recall (please see 06e019000) and will remedy these motor coaches. the engines will be repaired free of charge. Owners may contact detroit diesel at 313-592-3708 or van hool at 1-407-656-7977.

A january 2008 service bulletin suggests that certain model buses should upgrade to a high torque wiper motor.the tsb also alluded to wiper motor failures. Therefore, odi opened this investigation to determine the failure mode, frequency and safety significance since the wiper system IS considered to be a critical item of safety equipment and IS required by a federal standard. Van hool re-evaluated the issue and decided to conduct a safety recall. Van hool determined that there was an issue, but it was an issue with improperly finished linkage components that were causing the wiper motor to fail. All wiper motor linkages on the affected buses will be replaced under the recall. The recall action resolves the issues raised by this investigation. Accordingly, this investigation IS closed.

- 10233467Service Information: In its production process, Bock, manufacturer of refrigerant compressors, has switched to a new type of motor protection switch for the electric motor of the refrigerant compressor. As the MP10 motor protection switch (VH11472802) is no longer made available as a spare part, as of now you will receive the new INT69G motor protection switch (VH11691810) when ordering. The MP10 and the INT69G are interchangeable, but fastening and electric connection are different.
- 10219652Product Improvement: ALL VEHICLES WITH LIGHT-ALLOY WHEELS - Introduction of wheel-end monitoring system (WEM). Van Hool has released a wheel-end monitoring system (WEM) which can be installed on all vehicles equipped with light-alloy wheels. The WEM is installed at the outboard side of the wheel and monitors vibrations produced by the wheel bearing. It warns in case of bearing raceway spalling by flashing a red LED on the unit. The WEM is delivered with a magnet which is used to change from "transport" to "standstill" mode.

They are caused by the protective anti-corrosion coating at the inside of the bell housing which becomes liquid at transmission operating temperature. This phenomenon is temporarily and no indication that there is a sealing problem! The lubricant can easily be removed with ordinary cleaning product.

- 10118133Service Information: Bevel gear of front axle steering system Service records have shown that the grease in the bevel gear could affect performance at very low temperatures (below -20C/-4F). If the grease in the bevel gear becomes hard enough to affect drivability, additional manual force could be required to turn the steering wheel. This would be especially noticeable when the steering wheel is turned the first times after an initial start-up. The phenomenon could disappear later as a matter of course due to the warming up of the grease in the bevel gear. Additionally it has been determined that in some cases water has penetrated the bevel gear via the sealing thereby contaminating the grease. The penetrating water will start corrosion of the bearings. This problem shows a gradual, but continual increase of the steering forces and will not disappear at higher ambient temperatures or when the bevel gear is in use. Checking the bevel gear rotation torque will help in determining if the bevel gear needs to be replaced. If either of these conditions are observed, it is necessary to replace the bevel gear by the corresponding ZF bevel gear. Old and new bevel gears are interchangeable, but note that two different types of bevel gears are used. Also note that the new bevel gear has a mid-position which should be taken into account during the installation of the bevel gear.
