These records cover every 2005 Yamaha YP400. To see whether one car still needs a recall repair, decode its VIN or check it with NHTSA.
2 recalls name the 2005 Yamaha YP400. Newest first.
Yamaha IS recalling 9,600 my 2006-2007 cp250 and my 2005-2007 yp400 motorcycles. the engine could stall and be difficult to restart because the wire terminals in the fuel pump wire coupler have corroded. water can enter from the main wire harness end and run through the harness to the fuel pump coupler.
If the water remains in the coupler for an extended period of time, the terminals can become corroded, which can prevent the fuel pump from operating properly. if this corrosion affects fuel pump operation while the scooter IS being ridden, there could be a crash resulting in injury or death.
Dealers will install a sub-harness which IS designed to allow any water between the wire harness and the fuel pump to drain out before it reaches the fuel pump. the dealer will also inspect the connectors. if either the main wire harness connector or the fuel pump connectors IS already corroded, the corresponding assembly(ies) will also be replaced. the recall began on may 9, 2008. owners may contact yamaha at 1-800-962-7926.
On certain motorcycles, a leak at the fuel pump seal may allow fuel leakage.
Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.
Dealers will replace the fuel pump seal free of charge. the recall began on june 18, 2007. owners may contact yamaha at 1-800-962-7926.
Once engine was warmed up, vehicle stalled at stoplights twice and once when starting to move after a stop (when in an intersection). other times when stopped. Idle speed dropped below 1400, under which it stalls, and it was difficult to rev the engine to prevent stalling since there IS no neutral gear, so revving more than slightly can make the vehicle move. *tr
Engine stalling while moving. *tr
Engine stalls in traffic. *tr
I had a new 2005 majesty (yamaha) scooter. It would on occasion stall. I had it twice stall while merging onto the freeway. This almost resulted in a crash, but I was able to get to the shoulder and restart the engine. The dealer replaced the ecu and I have not any problems since. *tr
Vehicle stalls when attempting to accelerate normally (typically stalls in intersection). not frequent. vehicle restarts normally. occurs when engine IS fully warmed up. *tr
2005 yamaha majesty 400cc scooter stalling in traffic. Engine was warm, coming to a stop. Engine stalled around 5-10mph. This IS the 5TH time since new. condition very serious, as I was almost run over by traffic due to sudden loss of power/drive. This IS a lawsuit for sure. on a very small yamaha scooter forum, there are already 38 other riders with this exact same scooter that has stalled at least once. http://majestyusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=486&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0. This IS a very serious complaint I'm filing. I almost got seriously injured or lost my life yesterday due to this issue. Sincerely, thomas *tr
