I was driving my car and felt my back in pain/burning. The heated seat element had caught the seat back on fire and burned a hole through the seat and burned my skin. Luckily, I was on a city street with a spot able to pull over immediately, turn off the car, and smother the flame with my jacket. I think this IS extremely dangerous. Had I been driving and unable to pull over this would have burned me much worse or caused an accident. I am even more concerned because when I reported it to audi all they had to say was it's out of warranty and ask me to pay $190 to diagnose it. I don't think 'oops it's out of warranty' covers my seat catching on fire and burning me while I'm driving. This could have easily become a deadly incident in different driving conditions! How IS this ok?! This IS clearly a safety hazard. This needs to be recalled immediately!

Rainwater leaked into the vehicle, collecting in the passenger footwell, shorting out several electrical components. I understand vw/audi vehicles have a history of this occurring due to firewall/pollen filter/sunroof deficiencies which allow this to happen and they and their dealerships are very uncooperative in even acknowledging such a problem exists in the design of these vehicles. This IS an obvious inherent design flaw. Audi IS very unfair to consumers to deny such a problem exists and they should be held accountable. At no time during any regular service was it ever suggested that these drain plugs should be cleaned - while the cleaning of the sunroof rails were??? No owner could possibly be aware that such a disaster awaits them if these inaccessible drain plugs aren't cleaned. *js

2002 audi allroad 2.7T. This vehicle IS equipped with air suspension. The pump assembly IS located under the car in between the rear wheels and has a protection cover. This car IS allwheel drive and includes standard amenities such as a skibag. One would expect this car to hold well in cold climate. After 8 yrs of use, the pump assembly IS corroded to the point where it has separated from its support. It IS still operating, but now appears to rest on the protective cover, which itself IS held by three fasteners also corroded and disintegrating. A concern IS that the assembly falls off and presents a hazard for following vehicles, as well as a hazard for how the car handles as this pump feeds the air suspension. Pictures of the corroded assembly and cover fasteners are available. a search on audi-forum shows that there might be other instances of the same for this type of vehicle at about the same age. *Tr

I had stopped at a light prepared to make a right turn. when I accelerated to turn I heard and felt a large clunk in the rear end of my car; I thought I had been rear-ended but no other car was there. I then could feel and hear something dragging so I pulled over. I could see the rear axle hanging down on the ground and the wheel well on the driver rear buckled inward. it turned out that one of the bolts that held my rear axle in place was missing and the other one sheared off due to stress. my car literally dropped its rear axle. I have never had work done that would have entailed removing this bolt so the only assumption IS that it was either loose or missing when I purchased the car. I am very thankful that it happened when I was accelerating from a stop not passing a car on the interstate! *tr

The alarm in my 2002 audi allroad went off while I was backing out of a parking space and I could not get out of the car. when I would try to open the door with the electronic key, they would instantly re-lock and the door would not open by pulling up on the handle. essentially I was trapped inside for approximately five minutes. it finally quit and when I got it in for service, the dealer said that moisture had gotten into the locking mechanism and it needed to be replaced. my point IS in the unlikely event that I had to exit the car for my own safety, and I couldn't get out of the car, it could be a very serious safety problem. *jb

Twice my wife encountered trucks running stop signs. our 2002 audi all road had "turbo lag" which means when she floored the gas pedal, the car hesitated and hardly moved and then, as she tried to turn at the same time, the car suddenly accelerated so hard, she almost lost control. the same thing happened to me once but I didn't need to turn at the same time. these incidents happened in 2003 and 2004. I took the car to the dealer three times but they said the car was designed to do this. I strongly feel this IS a serious, dangerous safety concern on the part of all people driving this car. The "incident date" below IS the last time this happened. *Jb

Volkswagen (VW) IS recalling certain VW passat 4motion and audi A6 quattro and allroad quattro all-wheel drive passenger cars.vw vehicles subject to recall were manufactured from november 22, 2000 through may 31, 2005 and audi vehicles subject to recall were manufactured from june 2, 2001 to june 1, 2005.the nhtsa recall number for the VW vehicles IS 08v-156 (VW also IS correcting defects related to heat shield and fuel line hazards for these vehicles and for 1999-2000 passats in this recall action.)the nhtsa recall number for the audi vehicles IS 08v-157.since 2006, odi has received 17 complaints of fuel leaking from the subject vehicles' fuel tanks.the 400 complaints shown above may include duplicate reports to odi and the manufacturer. While the consequence (fuel leaks from the top of the tank) IS similar for both the passat and audi subject vehicles, differences in design and construction require a different remedy for each vehicle.on the passats, the ventilation line could have been installed improperly with tension and with an incorrectly positioned cable tie.the tension could cause cracked or broken nipples on the fuel tank rollover valve.on the audi vehicles, a material change (effective june 2, 2001) with different aging characteristics used for the rollover valve and the use of an inflexible aluminum ventilation line could cause cracking of the nipple on the rollover valve.vw IS recalling all vehicles subject to these defects.it will inspect passats to ensure that the vent line IS tension free and correct the installation if tension IS found.if a crack or fuel leak IS found, VW will replace the fuel tank.audi will repair all subject vehicles by reinforcing the fuel tank rollover valve with an epoxy adhesive.this investigation IS closed.

- 10216638If the vehicle?s engine experienced a serious mechanical problem, it is possible that small pieces of metal debris resulting from the mechanical problem may have become deposited in the intake manifold, air intake hoses, exhaust manifolds, exhaust down-pipes, turbocharger, supercharger, and/or intercooler. If these pieces are not removed prior to the installation and operation of the replacement engine, the pieces may be drawn into the combustion chamber, which can cause a knocking noise and subsequent serious engine damage.
- 10212703Vehicle lacks power or will not move after stop due to simultaneous depressing of the brake and accelerator pedals
- 10210679This condition may be caused when the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are depressed simultaneously. Drivers who drive with their left foot resting on the brake pedal are prone to experience this condition. With the introduction of Electronic Power Control (EPC) (no accelerator cable) to fuel injection systems, an engine RPM control feature has been incorporated into the engine electronic control system software. Customer states that the engine returns to idle speed of approximately 1,400 RPM although the accelerator is depressed, and/or the vehicle hesitates (lacks power on take-off).
- 10210650This condition may be caused when the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are depressed simultaneously. Drivers who consciously or unconsciously drive with their left foot resting on the brake pedal are prone to experience this condition. With the introduction of Electronic Power Control (EPC) (no accelerator cable) to fuel injection systems, an engine RPM control feature has been incorporated into the engine electronic control system software. As a result, application of the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time (brake pedal with left foot and accelerator pedal with right foot) results in the following: ? Brake pedal function (normal at all times) overrides any throttle application. ? Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will not be stored. ? When the brake pedal is applied while the accelerator is depressed, engine RPMs will return to idle speeds of 1400 RPMs after approximately two seconds. ? When the accelerator is applied while the brake pedal is depressed, the vehicle accelerates slower than usual (reduced engine torque).

- 10123995Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-55 dated August 22, 2011. Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders.
