After recalled air bags replaced, about 6 months later new air bag sensor light came on and diagnosed as passenger seat air bag sensor mat needs to be replaced. Just randomly the light came on and stayed on. I see this has been a problem in bmws and there was an extended warranty for other models. this should be a recall as it IS a safety issue as bags will not deploy.

2004 BMW 325ci. Consumer writes in regards to passenger side airbag safety recall. *Ld *js
I called my dealer last year to schedule to fix my recall on my car. Unfortunately I did not went to my appointment. Now one of the bags exploded, and I called the delegar again to do my recall, but to my surprise the have my car in records as repair!! And I told the that never happened. They promised to check and call me back and has not happened either. This IS the BMW san antonio texas delegar. I believe this IS fraud! I want to have the recall done and I want to make sure they don't go away with it. I don't have any documentation to upload about it because it doesn't exist. Nevertheless I do have a picture that shows the airbag that exploded IS from 2003, as the rest of them. I feel so angry and disappointed. My name IS [xxx], owner of the 2004 BMW 325ci information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(B)(6). *Cc *tr
Headlight wiring insulation on standard BMW headlights IS brittle and falling off exposing bare copper wires within the headlight assembly. in order to protect the headlights I have had to wrap the wires in electrical tape and shrink wrapping. this issue has existed for several years.
Takata recall
Takata recall first the passenger side airbag was recalled, after waiting over one year, it was removed and replaced. Now the driver's airbag has been recalled. We responded immediately. We have been waiting for over two years! No contact, no replacement. We continue to live in peril of the lethal deployment of the defective airbag and BMW just says wait?

Takayuki recall a few years back, I received a recall notice for the passenger side airbag.(potentially lethal consequences if deployed). last year, I received another recall, this time for the driver's airbag.i responded immediately and was placated with the promise of replacement. It has been eighteen months now and the dealer asks me to be patient. I recently found that it may take until 2020!!! For any replacement!!! I ask, simply would any prudent person drive my vehicle? Living with the threat of death for four more years? What am I to do? I want a safe replacement at bmw's expense until my vehicle can be repaired. Yes my vehicle IS 12 years old ( 60,000 miles) and yes I live in what considered a "humid" environment! Help!

I received a letter from BMW stating airbags were in for recalls 15v-318 and 13v-172/14v-428. I took my car to BMW west in houston and was told tx does not have driver's side airbags yet. I had to leave my car overnight because they had to wait for the passenger bags from another BMW center. I will now be driving with a defective driver's airbag until parts are received.

When weather IS hot steering becomes critical. Does not respond to where you steer the car. Fear of an accident causes me to not use the car in hot weather. Seems like a common problem with this model car, why isn't there a recall by BMW ??

Notified many months ago driver air bag could kill and it was being replaced under a recall. I call every month to no help by BMW. Months later, BMW says "tacata air bag company going bankrupt so good luck" ever getting the part. Why isn't BMW being forced to resolve this? So, if I or anyone driving a recalled car dies, BMW IS well aware of the prior problem and IS an accomplice for aiding and abetting in nothing being done for the many BMW customers.

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE14-016 in June 2014 based on six inflator rupture incidents involving consumer owned vehicles produced by five vehicle manufacturers. All six vehicles were operated in Florida or Puerto Rico at the time of the rupture and for the majority of their service life, and were equipped with inflators produced by Takata, a tier-one supplier of automotive air bag systems.During the course of PE14-016, ODI determined that five additional vehicle manufacturers used inflators of a similar design and vintage also supplied by Takata. No evidence of field failures was found in vehicles produced by these five additional manufacturers.Nonetheless, at ODI's insistence, all 10 vehicle manufacturers initiated a regional recall within approximately two weeks of the opening of the investigation. The regions recalled initially included Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, areas with high absolute humidity and climatic conditions believed to be a significant factor in the inflator ruptures. As part of the recall actions, inflators removed from remedied vehicles are to be returned to Takata for testing.Takata's initial test results on passenger inflators from remedied vehicles indicated a much higher than anticipated rupture frequency for inflators returned from Florida.Accordingly ODI requested all 10 manufacturers expand the regional recalls for passenger inflators to include other geographic areas where high absolute humidity conditions exist, including the Gulf States and other coastal areas.Takata's testing of the passenger inflators to date continues to indicate this geographic area as having the highest risk, with no ruptures occurring from inflators returned from outside the expanded recall regions.During PE14-016 four additional passenger inflator field events occurred, all in vehicles from the same expanded geographic region. Also during PE14-016 four additional driver inflator field events occurred including two in vehicles from regions not known for high absolute humidity, specifically California and North Carolina.Accordingly, ODI requested all five of the affected vehicle manufacturers currently using the subject Takata driver inflators expand to nationwide recalls.Significantly, neither of the affected vehicle manufacturers or Takata provided any explanation to account for these two driver air bag inflator ruptures outside the area of high absolute humidity.Takata testing of returned driver inflators indicates a lower rupture frequency as compared to passenger inflator testing. All test ruptures reported by Takata to date have occurred on inflators returned from high absolute humidity areas. The investigation now includes all manufacturers and vehicles known to be affected at this time.ODI's investigation will focus on, among other things, root cause analysis, other potential defect consequences, identification of affected vehicles scope, and adequacy of the remedy. The five ODI reports cited above can be reviewed online at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification numbers: 10537899, 10568848, 10585224, 10605877, 10651492

Ms. Claire m. Tieder of reston, va, submitted a defect petition to the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) by letter dated january 11, 2004, requesting a defect investigation be conducted into delayed transmission engagement on model year 2004 BMW xi vehicles.bmw's response to nhtsa's information request indicated that certain BMW 3-series vehicles equipped with the GM5 transmission may exhibited a forward 'park' to 'drive' engagement delay from2 to 30 seconds.however, the condition can occur only during a vehicle cold start, after the vehicle has been at rest for more than eight hours.drivers experiencing the delay have learned to take precautionary and compensatory measures.bwm will replace affected transmissions exhibiting the delay, after the condition has been verified, with an improved unit.no alleged crashes, injuries, or fatalities have been reported to either BMW or nhtsa relating to this issue.based on analysis of nhtsa's consumer complaints and bmw's data, the petition IS denied.for details, see federal register, vol. 69, no. 91 (may 11, 2004).
