BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2011-2014 S 1000 RR/R/ HP4, R 1200 GS/GS Adventure/R/RT, K 1300 S, K 1600 GT/GTL/GTL Exclusive and 2014 R nine T motorcycles. The fuel pump, and auxiliary fuel pump in certain models, may crack and leak fuel during vehicle operation.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, may result in a fire.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began March 17, 2021. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Risk
If other drivers cannot easily see the turn signals, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the turn signals, free of charge. The recall began October 25, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
BMW is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 S 1000 RR motorcycles manufactured September 2011, through December 2012. Due to a manufacturing fault, the side-stand attachment bolts could start to loosen. The loosening of the side-stand bolts could cause the stand to separate from the frame of the motorcycle.
Risk and remedy
Risk
A separation of the side-stand could cause the motorcycle to fall, causing a risk of injury.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will clean the sidestand mounting plate threads and replace the side-stand mounting plate bolts, free of charge. The recall began on January 29, 2013. Owners may call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.

The vehicle stalled and after restarting, it resumed to normal. The failure recurred sporadically. The contact mentioned that the side stand bolt loosened causing the sensor to become inoperative as a result the engine shut off. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 12v585000 (structure). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,000.

The contact stated that the front brakes would not engage unless the contact repeatedly pumped the pedal. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where he was awaiting diagnosis of the failure. - 10249027The electrical system of BMW vehicles has been subject to an ongoing development process over the last few years. This has led to increased demands being placed on the battery. This document covers important information for the dealer on how to handle discharged battery complaints.
- 10245430On the above listed vehicles, lubricant residue can be found on the fork cap on the right side telescoping fork. Vehicles with caps 31 42 1 754 557 and 31 42 1 757 701 can show this residue. These are not leaks at the cap, but assembly grease residue. Forks with this apparent leak have been received and leak testing was performed. NO leaks could be detected.

The burr can dislodge over time due to vibrations and oil pressure fluctuations (incl. temperature influences). This can cause a narrowing or restriction of an oil duct or oil spray nozzle. A lack of lubrication (e.g. the timing chain) or insufficient cooling (e.g. the piston) can be the result.
