When the vehicle IS started the red airbag light comes on and will not go off. Occasionally when there IS a passenger and the passenger airbag light comes on the red airbag light will go off. It IS my concern that the airbag will not deploy when it should or it will deploy when it shouldn't. I am very concerned about this. The car has never been wrecked and the airbags have never been deployed. This all happens either stationary and/or in motion.
4T65e automatic transmission. defective internal o-ring seals in the valve body cause loss of fluid pressure, leading to slipping and premature wear.
The airbag warning light comes on while the car IS traveling indicating the airbags are malfunctioning. It comes on and off intermittently. I brought in to the dealer and they cleared the malfunction code and it happened again. They want to change the sensor under the seat for $1250 since it IS not covered by warranty. It seems to occur when the car IS in motion going either up or down an incline.
While making a right hand turn I heard a pop noise simultaneously vehicle dipped harshly with the handling and steering control compromised. after inspection the fractured and broken sway bar was discovered. Sway bar ends cracked both sides with right side completely severed. car was used in normal driving conditions-mechanic suggested I report this safety issue because this should not happen. *tr
Airbag light comes on intermittently. this IS a safety concern, since appearance of this light may indicate that airbag would not deploy in the event of an impact. the dealership checked the care and cleared the code, and advised to keep an eye on this should the light come back on. I have checked online and this seems to be a pervasive issue with this particular model year and even years following this. in some cases there have been recalls that involved software issues. I spoke with the dealership and they advised that they could change the sensors, but this runs about $2500 and there IS no warranty that it would resolve the issue of the intermittent appearance of the airbag light. shouldn't this involve an official recall, since it IS such a common problem for this model and shouldn't the manufacturer be researching a solution to ensure driver/passenger safety?
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
The subject vehicles are model year (MY) 2002-2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2004-2007 Buick Rainier, 2003-2008 Isuzu Ascender, 2005-2009 Saab 9-7X, 2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR, 2005-2009 Buick Lacrosse, and 2006-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. This scope includes the Trailblazer/Envoy variants: 2002-2006 Envoy XL/Trailblazer EXT and 2004-2005 Envoy XUV. The original scope of this investigation was expanded to include all vehicles equipped with the subject Headlight Driver Module (HDM). The focus of the investigation was to determine whether actions performed by General Motors adequately addressed any unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety in the subject vehicles concerning the headlights and the HDM that controls them.Under normal electrical load and environmental conditions, the HDM can overheat inside the Underhood Electrical Center (UEC). This can cause the module to fail and result in a simultaneous loss of both low beam headlights and both daytime running lights (DRLs), often with no warning or prior detectability to the driver. This failure can be intermittent or permanent. No other exterior lights are affected. High beams, turn signals, brake lights, and reverse lights are still operational.General Motors addressed this issue with 2 recalls (14V755 & 15V519) and a special coverage program (N172091910). In view of the recalls and special coverage program implemented by GM and the vehicle high beams continuing to operate, ODI has tentatively concluded that the actions taken by GM mitigate any unreasonable risk to safety posed by HDM failure in the subject vehicles.Accordingly, the investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances. The ODI reports cited above are available for review online at NHTSA.gov under the identification numbers in the attached document.
