If the air conditioner compressor clutch assembly contacts the auxiliary engine oil cooler out hose, the hose may wear through allowing engine oil to leak in the engine compartment.
An oil leak that contacts the hot exhaust system can result in an engine compartment fire.
Dealers will install a tie strap to retain the auxiliary engine oil cooler outlet hose to the auxiliary engine oil cooler inlet hose at the bottom of the radiator assuring adequate clearance of the affected hose from the air conditioner compressor clutch assembly.
The fuel feed and return lines to the engine fuel injection system were not fully assembled and locked. The lines can work loose, causing a fuel leak in the engine compartment.
Fuel leaks in the engine compartment can result inunderhood fires if exposed to a source of ignition.
Dealer will inspect vehicle and, if necessary, adjust or replace the fuel feed and return lines to the engine fuel injection system.
TL* the contact owns a 1993 cadillac eldorado. While driving at any speed, the instrument panel lights dimmed and the air conditioner compressor off, very low refrigerant, and service ride control warning lights illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician reset the computer; however, the failure recurred. In addition, there was a fuel odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 94v158000 (equipment) and 93v088000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
A rodent presumably a squirrel bit 2 tiny holes in the plastic high pressure (35 psi) fuel line. Initially undetected, the car was driven several miles spraying gasoline the whole time. When parked it produced a large puddle of gasoline under the car. last week the same thing happened again only much larger holes. The large puddle of gasoline under the car was warning enough not to start it. The fuel sprays several feet and had the angle of the punctures been slightly higher it would have sprayed the catalytic converter, and the back of the engine. The ensuing fire would have been horrific and an unaware driver wouldn't have escaped without serious injury as the fuel begins to spray just before starting, and continues as long as the engine IS running. the line has several inches exposed and easily accessible to a squirrel. I have the piece of line that was punctured. I installed a rabbit cage wire guard around the exposed line. This I believe to be a serious safety hazard that should be addressed by the manufacturer. This incident IS not isolated. I posted on the cadillac discussion board and received other replies of the same type of incident. *js

While driving, the entire vehicle vibrated. *jb
The consumer's vehicle experienced the same problem as stated in recall#93v088000, fuel line, however the dealer refused to repair, because the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall. *jb when attempted to start the vehicle, there was a loud explosion and a large cloud of white smoke had come from the engine. the dealer stated that the vehicle had blown the manifold with pieces of fragments under the hood. the dealer refused to cover the cost. *ssc
