It happened in January, Feb, and March of this year. [XXX] — Cadillac XT4 rearview camera failures have caused a recall of more than 10,000 SUVs equipped with optional Surround Vision features. Recalled are 2019-2020 Cadillac XT4 vehicles with video processing modules (VPM) that may lose communication with the rearview cameras. This will cause the rearview camera image to fail. GM opened an investigation in August following backup camera failures in 2020 Cadillac XT4 SUVs. The automaker found increased warranty claims for camera failures on 2019 and 2020 XT4s. GM also received nearly 850 field reports between December 28, 2018, to September 19, 2022. According to General Motors, the problem with the video processing module is a software anomaly that allows the communication issues. A Cadillac XT4 driver may notice a problem if the backup camera image is replaced with a black or blue screen. Cadillac expects to mail XT4 recall letters January 9, 2022, and dealers will update the processing modules. In addition, the video processing modules will be replaced in 2019 Cadillac XT4 SUVs. Cadillac XT4 owners who want to learn more about the recall should call 800-458-8006 and ask about rearview camera image recall number N222373320. from this website: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have a Cadillac XT4 with 33K miles. Last week my battery was dead. As a senior citizen who is a widow it is important that I not be stuck in a situation where I cannot get my car started which is why I am diligent with my maintenance. After I finally got my car to the dealership where I was charged $425 for the battery I started to investigate other owners complaints of this nature. Based on simple Google searches, It appears that the XT4 has alot of battery problems. This puts the driver in a dangerous situation. I called GM helpdesk who said that there is no recall at this time, but if there is one that I will be notified. Why wait? I know this may not seem like a huge safety problem to you like airbags etc, but the battery being dead with no prior indication puts people in a dangerous situation. I appreciate what your agency does and thank you for reading this
I have a 2020 cadillac xt4. When I first purchased the car in 2021, it already needed a new battery. Since owning the vehicle, I've had to change the battery two times already with 3 years. When I go to start the car (push start) sometimes the car wouldn't turn over or turn on and my dash board would illuminate stating service stabilitrak. Sometimes it would take like 5-8 tries before the car turned on. When it did turn on, my check engine light came on, I couldn't accelerate beyond 43 miles, my braking system was not working and a lot of features on my car stopped working like the lane assistant didn't work, and neither did my cruise control, or emergency braking. Took it to O'Reilly and bought a new battery. Once I installed the new battery, the check engine light disappeared and the car started driving fine again.
The contact owns a 2020 Cadillac XT4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard an abnormal popping sound coming from an unknown location. Additionally, there was a screeching sound coming from the brakes. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the rear passenger’s side shock absorber. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 25,000.
During the two winter seasons I owned the Cadillac XT4 the Stabilitrack feature of the car malfunctioned every time it freezes outside and the check engine light came in. It was still under warranty and it was repaired last year at Foley Cadillac in Northbrook, IL and this year the light came on again warning of a malfunction of the same issue and I called to make an. Appointment to have it repaired again. I traded the vehicle off because of this issue. I felt it to be unsafe and it would soon be out of warranty. Jay, the salesperson at Ziegler Buick that sold me the new Buick Envision told me that Cadillac XT 4s all have that issue and made reference to the fact is it a defect of purpose to keep customers paying to have it fixed every year. While this is here say, I am more inclined to believe it. The approximate date below is for this last episode and is approx. I don't remember the exact date.
RECALL for repair of Back UP Camera because it intermittently stops working. XT4 has been taken in TWICE for this recall January and February of 2023. The camera continues to intermittently stop working. This problem needs to be resolved in order for vehicle to operate safely.
On 03/16/2022 I was pulling away from my driveway on flat even pavement. As I accelerated the side curtain airbags malfunctioned and inflated.. there is no damage to the vehicle, and the report sent from onstage immediately following shows all information modules show no issues. We sent the vehicle to the dealership they have given us the run around for over a month and now say their finding doesn't merit fixing issue and I can transfer my claim from "faulty part" to warranty department "Only side curtain airbags deployed" both sides
The wiring in the Cadillac is soy based and squirrels have ate the wires out of my engine three times. It makes the steering compromised and unsafe. The warning comes up drive with caution steering compromised. Not exact but you get the jest
Cadilliac 2019 XT4 white in color brand new tires and rims ..engine blew up while traveling to a party with my girlfriends outta town. it was really bad...but we still had a great time. we had it towed at no expense by a guy we met while on the interstate he helped us to safety and towed the broken cadillac to a repair shop for repair however the repair guy said it was unrepairable due to the damages that occurred. so I left it there outta town and we flew back home. so now I'm out a vehicle and the repair shop's phone number IS in disconnect and has no website. can you please help me get my new cadillac back...it was the car I always wanted and now it's disappeared somewhere. no police report was done because the town had no police department listed in that town so we just got screwed over big time. please help I now have no vehicle.*dt*jb

NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
On April 9, 2021, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened PE21-010 to investigate instances of air bag malfunction indicator light (MIL) illumination and potential for frontal air bag non-deployment in several vehicles manufactured by General Motors (GM). The vehicles included model year (MY) 2020 through 2021 CT4 and CT5 passenger cars, Sierra and Silverado trucks (1500/2500/3500 models), XT4 and MY 2021 Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon SUVs.Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 21-NA-005, issued in March 2021, addresses air bag MIL illumination with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B0001-1B or B0012-0D. It cites rust particles in the connection terminal interface of the driver air bag inflator housing as the cause of the air bag MIL illumination. Illumination of the air bag MIL under these circumstances may result in a non-deployment of the frontal driver air bag during a frontal collision and increased risk of injury to the driver.GM stated a correlation exists between production delays due to the pandemic shutdown and premature corrosion initiation on the surface of the air bag inflator housing, which, in some cases, caused rust development during a seven (7) month period of vehicle production. In the rare instance when a rust particle dislodges from the driver air bag inflator housing and enters the air bag connector prior to assembly, an intermittent resistance spike at the air bag connector may result. The condition generates excessive resistance in the air bag electrical system when the steering wheel horn cover is manipulated or the steering wheel is turned. This excessive resistance is momentary. A crash commanding air bag deployment would need to occur exactly when the momentary excessive resistance occurs. Thus, there is a very low likelihood the hazard will present a risk during a crash of sufficient severity to warrant a commanded deployment. This failure mechanism occurs early in life and results in an air bag MIL illumination that corresponds to a DTC warning the driver that the vehicle requires service. The vehicle's air bag remains functional while the MIL is illuminated, and the DTC is present.Once the connection of the driver air bag module to the clockspring is made at the plant, or at the dealership for service, there is no longer an opportunity for rust migration into the connection point. The connector is sealed and has gold terminals, eliminating the expectation of fretting corrosion. All subject vehicles passed standard corrosion validation testing for extensive corrosion with no issue of air bag non-deployment.There is a low rate of occurrence: 1.41 incidents per thousand vehicles (IPTV) for all related occurrences, and 0.04 IPTV for occurrences with a mention of visible rust and/or corrosion on the air bag inflator housing. The average occurrence mileage for the subject vehicles is approximately 2,100. Every occurrence related to the alleged defect experienced an air bag MIL illumination and there are no verified allegations of air bag non-deployment within all data sources. To date, there have been no reported fires, crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to this issue. In view of the low rate, and the nature of early-life failure, the high detectability of failures, and low potential hazard to drivers, this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by new circumstances.Review the ODI reports cited above at nhtsa.gov under the following identification numbers: 11537927, 11528888, 11525020, 11521401, 11506057, 11493107, 11486767, 11441525, 11433146, 11425658, 11423440, 11385267, 11376429, 11373466, 11366995.
