Takata recall I own a 2002 chrysler voyager minivan. At about 85,000 miles I noticed the airbag light on the dashboard was coming on sporadically. eventually it started remaining on all the time from the moment I started the ignition. I took it to a local chrysler dealer to have it inspected. they told me there was a problem with the clock spring and that it needed to be replaced and would cost me about $350. earlier reproductions of this model have been recalled for problems with clock springs but mine IS not because it was manufactured two years too late.
TL* the contact owns a 2002 chrysler voyager. The contact stated that the vehicle's brake seal fractured and caused the brakes not to work properly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 153,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel rail needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the /ailure. /The failure mileage was 150,000. updated 01/27/16*lj
From cold tires the vehicle traveled approximately 10 miles at varying speeds (30 - 60 mph). At that point the right rear tire blew out with two (2) vertical separations in the side wall from the bead to the tread on the outside of the tire, and the tread separated from the side wall for approximately six (6) inches on the inside of the tire. All three (3) separations were completely through the tire.

Air bag light IS on 90% of the time. may be off for a couple days then comes back on. *Tr
Airbag lit stays light al the time, was told it was a bad sensor, there was never a recall for it. You would think there would be since its a safety feature 'air bag light'. The check engine light stays lit too, that has been on since my car had a tuneup done was also told that was a bad sensor . The dealer should recall these features I've heard there was alot of the same problem other people were having too. *Tr
The clock spring in my voyager IS failing. the horn no longer works and the airbag light goes on and off intermittently. chrysler has recalled this minivan before but did not extend the recall to the 2002 year. I am concerned that I could be in an accident and the airbag would not deploy. *Tr
Had vehicle 3 wks,1st problem took it back to dealer in pittsburgh, ks. The sway bar bushing was wore out. 2ND problem was driving down highway, vehicle would not accelerate, stopped moving completely. Took to dealer again. The planetarium weld had busted, he informed me that it IS a very common problem. 3RD problem took nephew home when I went to unbuckle his seat beat, the latch and all come up out of seat,, very scary, could have been IS accident..had not yet took to dealer. Just happened one day ago. *Tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chrysler voyager. while driving approximately 60 mph, the brake system spontaneously failed. the contact had to apply tremendous pressure to the brake pedal in order for the brakes to function. she took her vehicle to the dealer on several occasions and they cleaned the brake pads with the air line blower, added sway bar links, and replaced the brake shoes and drums. shortly after the repairs were made, the brakes failed again while driving. the dealer stated that her failure was an isolated issue. the manufacturer stated that her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign ID number 06e022000 (service brakes, hydraulic); therefore, the contact would be responsible for the repair costs. the failure mileage was 35,000 and current mileage was 85,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chrysler voyager. soon after the vehicle was purchased, the air bag light illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer three or four times regarding this failure. after regularly servicing her vehicle, she has had to replace the front and rear brakes at 20,000 and 40,000 miles. the dealer stated that the brakes needed to be replaced again at 70,000 miles. two weeks after her vehicle had been inspected and while driving 5 mph, the transmission snapped in half. the vehicle had to be pushed off the road and then towed to a mechanic. the mechanic confirmed that the front and rear brakes needed to be replaced and stated that any part that was contaminated by the transmission failure had to be replaced. the vehicle IS currently with the mechanic and repairs currently total $1,400. the contact IS scheduled to have arbitration with the dmv. the purchase date and powertrain were unknown. the current and failure mileages were 77,000.
NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation opened these reviews into vehicles including this one.
Owner reports indicate allegations of improper headlight operation of one or both headlights.some report intermittent outage or dimming.many report that the condition IS random; it sometimes does not repeat and lasts for a very short duration. A safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist.the agency will monitor this issue and reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.see summary report for additional information.
The office of defects investigation (odi) opened this investigation after receiving reports from consumers that their headlights would malfunction in various ways from flickering to complete non-illumination.headlight operation IS monitored by the vehicle's body control module (bcm) and front control module (fcm).odi IS upgrading this preliminary evaluation to an engineering analysis (ea05-009) to further examine the issue.
On july 7, 2004, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened a preliminary evaluation based on consumer complaints alleging an interior vehicle fire starting in the area of the driver side rear speaker.daimlerchrysler corporation (dcc) informed odi that condensation from the instrument panel air conditioning ducts may drip onto the radio and into vent holes on top of the radio.this can result in a short circuit sending direct current to the rear speakers and cause a speaker fire.the condition IS present only on subject vehicles equipped with the base radio.subject vehicles with other option radios contain circuit protection that prevents sending direct current to the speakers and are not affected.all nine complaints pertain to vehicles with the base radio.by letter dated november 1, 2004, dcc notified nhtsa that it will conduct a safety recall (nhtsa# 04v531) covering model year 2001-2002 dodge caravan, grand caravan, chrysler voyager, and town & country models with base radio only (est. 238,000 vehicles).dcc dealers will install a protective tape to the top of the radio assembly to prevent water intrusion.the action taken by dcc IS sufficient to resolve the issue raised by this investigation.accordingly, this investigation IS closed.
