Fleetwood IS recalling 3,782 my 2006-2009 providence, excursion, expedition, discovery and boulder diesel motor homes. the battery cable IS routed too close to a sharp edge located on top of a shelf installed over the driveshaft.
This can cause abrasion to the battery cable insulation, leading to an electrical short and possibly a fire.
Dealers will re-route the cable away from the sharp edge location. This service will be performed for you free of charge. the recall began on may, 26 2009. owners may contact fleetwood at 800-509-3418.
Fleetwood IS recalling 70,101 my 2003-2007 southwind, pace arrow, bounder, flair, storm, fiesta, terra gas class a motor homes; bounder, discovery, providence, excursion, expedition, revolution, american eagle, american heritage, american tradition diesel class a motor homes; jamboree tioga class c motor homes; and prowler, wilderness, terry, mallard…
If this solution IS exposed to an ignition source under certain specific circumstances, it can result in a vehicle fire.
Fleetwood IS working with dometic to repair these refrigerators (please see 08e032). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. To manage this campaign. stericycle will assist the owner in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or fleetwood at 1-800-322-8216.
On certain motor homes equipped with kwikee brand electric entry step built with a control unit manufactured by american technologies, may develop an electrical short during cold weather, allowing for the potential of the plastic case to ignite.
This will make the step inoperable and possibly result in a risk of personal injury, vehicle or other property damage.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace all american technologies controls associated with the kwikee brand electric entry step free of charge. the recall began on march 17, 2006. owners may contact fleetwood at 800-509-3418.
Certain motor homes fail to comply with the requirements of part 567, "certification." the federal certification tag may be printed with the incorrect gross vehicle weight rating (gvwr) weight value of 31,000 pounds. the correct gvwr weight value IS 28,000 pounds. the same weight error may occur on the cargo carrying capacity tag.
Overloading could damage the vehicle, adversely affecting vehicle performance including handling and braking, cause tire failure, and result in a crash.
Dealers will send replacement labels along with instructions. if necessary, dealers will change certain front suspension components and certify the chassis for the 31,000 pounds gvwr weight value. the recall began on february 27, 2006. owners may contact fleetwood at 800-509-3418.
Certain diesel class a motor homes fail to comply with the requirements of part 567, "certification." the manufacturers' tow hitch receiver information label was printed with the incorrect weight carrying capacity value and the incorrect tongue weight value.
The weight label on the hitch receiver provides the maximum trailer weight rating and the maximum tongue weight rating. It IS important that these ratings not be exceeded. Failure to comply could result in damage to the motor home frame, body, or hitch receiver and could cause unstable driving and handling characteristrics which may result in a vehicle crash.
Fleetwood will mail owners the correct tow hitch receiver weight information label. If owners do not feel comfortable installing the label, dealers will install the label for them. the recall began august 4, 2005. owners may contact fleetwood at 800-509-3418.
Fleetwood used cheap se-gi window in the manufacturing of the discovery motorhomes. as a result the dual pane windows are all fogging up. the driver side slider window IS so fogged up that it IS difficult to see out of and into the mirror. replacement of this window IS about 700.00. this motor home IS out of warranty and will not be repaired by fleetwood. *tr
We had an extended warranty and they replaced two foggy windows then one year latter we had three more windows that fogged and they said they no longer cover glass under the warranty!!!!!!!!!! Now the rest of the windows are foggy and we have no recourse and are not a lone as we understand all discovers up to 2009 have the same problem!!!!!!!!! Where IS the justice in this problem that we as the consumers are now faced with. *tr
All windows of the motorhome are fogged up making a serious safety hazard. This has occurred over the last 1.5 years and steadily getting worse and affecting all windows in the motorhome. *tr
All the windows on my coach have fogged between the panes, I had to have my driver side replaced on my own for safety concerns, the rest all subsequently failed and this IS a major issue with such a high profile vehicle , I believe fleetwood should be forced to recall and repair! *tr
After owning my fleetwood rv for only 4 years, and keeping it housed indoors, all of the double-pained windows have failed and fogged over. it IS near impossible to get a clear look thru the side rear view mirrors because of the deterioration of the windows. this creates a very difficult situation while driving and will lead to needless accidents. I have complained to fleetwood but to no avail. it will cost thousands of dollars to have the faulty windows repaired. a quick search of the internet indicates that this endemic of fleetwood rv's produced from 2000-2010. it should be the responsibility of fleetwood to correct this issue but they refuse. Please look into similar complaints made by the many rv owners who have complained on the internet and have specified that they were filing complaints with nhtsa. thank you *tr
While driving on interstate the mmdc (multiple module data computer) went hey-wire. All gauges turned off. No speedometer, fuel gauge, temp, oil etc... Also the rv "jake" break (engine break) failed to engage. search of the internet indicates that this has been an on-going issue with freightliner's mmdc thus putting many large trucks on the roads, and the people around them, in danger. the unit IS made by medallion instrumentation systems. please look into the number of mmdc failures (after market sales) to see if it warrants a recall. I have a fleetwood rv but apparently these things are in a lot of rv's and possibly big rigs all over the country. *tr
The windows on my class a motor home are fogging to the point where I am not able to clearly see my outside mirror on the drivers side. The motor home IS a 2006 fleetwood discovery. From the research I have done this appears to be a big problem for fleetwood. They are not willing to replace these windows at their cost. This IS a very serious safety issue. *tr
Drivers side glass double pane window fogged up. difficult to see side mirror. Passenger side glass fogged up difficult to see traffic along side of motorhome. double pane windows have lost their seals. product defect and manufacturer will not repair. *Tr
