Fleetwood IS recalling 3,782 my 2006-2009 providence, excursion, expedition, discovery and boulder diesel motor homes. the battery cable IS routed too close to a sharp edge located on top of a shelf installed over the driveshaft.
This can cause abrasion to the battery cable insulation, leading to an electrical short and possibly a fire.
Dealers will re-route the cable away from the sharp edge location. This service will be performed for you free of charge. the recall began on may, 26 2009. owners may contact fleetwood at 800-509-3418.
Fleetwood IS recalling 70,101 my 2003-2007 southwind, pace arrow, bounder, flair, storm, fiesta, terra gas class a motor homes; bounder, discovery, providence, excursion, expedition, revolution, american eagle, american heritage, american tradition diesel class a motor homes; jamboree tioga class c motor homes; and prowler, wilderness, terry, mallard…
If this solution IS exposed to an ignition source under certain specific circumstances, it can result in a vehicle fire.
Fleetwood IS working with dometic to repair these refrigerators (please see 08e032). dometic will repair these refrigerators by installing a secondary burn housing, a thermal fuse, and a melt fuse free of charge. dometic has retained stericycle inc. To manage this campaign. stericycle will assist the owner in locating dealerships or service centers and will provide assistance with scheduling of appointments. owners may contact dometic/stericycle at 1-888-446-5157 or fleetwood at 1-800-322-8216.
On certain motor homes equipped with kwikee brand electric entry step built with a control unit manufactured by american technologies, may develop an electrical short during cold weather, allowing for the potential of the plastic case to ignite.
This will make the step inoperable and possibly result in a risk of personal injury, vehicle or other property damage.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace all american technologies controls associated with the kwikee brand electric entry step free of charge. the recall began on march 17, 2006. owners may contact fleetwood at 800-509-3418.
Certain diesel class a motor homes fail to comply with the requirements of part 567, "certification." the manufacturers' tow hitch receiver information label was printed with the incorrect weight carrying capacity value and the incorrect tongue weight value.
The weight label on the hitch receiver provides the maximum trailer weight rating and the maximum tongue weight rating. It IS important that these ratings not be exceeded. Failure to comply could result in damage to the motor home frame, body, or hitch receiver and could cause unstable driving and handling characteristrics which may result in a vehicle crash.
Fleetwood will mail owners the correct tow hitch receiver weight information label. If owners do not feel comfortable installing the label, dealers will install the label for them. the recall began august 4, 2005. owners may contact fleetwood at 800-509-3418.
First I noticed the bedroom window fogging up. service folks told me the seal was broken, and only option was to replace it. I have an extended warranty, but windows apparently are not covered. they estimated $800 to fix window. I decided I could live with it. but, then, one after another, the other windows have lost their seal, and all of them are now cloudy. no one will assume any responsibility for this defect. when you buy a quarter of a million dollar rv, it seems that the windows should not fail. my rv has been stored inside since purchasing new. the rv has about 20,000 miles on it. there are many blogs about fleetwood rv's and all of them are having window failure issues. now my driver window IS starting to go, and it will be a significant safety issue soon so I guess I will have to replace it. I wonder how any complaints it will take at the nhtsa before action on a recall IS initiated. please advise. *tr
My concern began late 2006 after the purchase of my 2006 rv fleetwood providence in december. thereafter it appeared that during the cold period to include rain it was the early spring of 2007 when we noticed the windows around the corners begun to cloud just slightly around the driver's side window. the seal was then checked and service was indicated that it was good. as time went on, the problem worsen spreading to the other windows in the unit; particularly when it rained the moist turned into deep clouding and IS continuous which makes it very difficult to see through particularly when driving during the night; which has created a safety hazard and a huge concern to me and my family safety. Please help! as I feel this IS manufacturing problem and this incident should be investigated. during the time the problem occurred we returned the unit for inspection but was informed that there was nothing that could be done; all except the fact the seals were checked and was told the windows were sealed properly. the company that we purchased the unit from IS no longer in business. again, please help! windows are getting worse---this IS a serious problem and we truly believe it shouldn't be happening!! *tr
I own a 2006 fleetwood providence motor home with a serious safety issue. The dual pane windows are obstructed by a gaseous fog due to the failure of the seal between the glass. I would accept that one, possibly two dual pane windows may lose their seal and fog over time but every window on this vehicle IS fogged to the point of making it unsafe to drive. I have difficulty seeing traffic through the side view mirrors. My vehicle IS out of warranty but at 5 years and 19,000 miles but there IS nothing an owner can reasonably do to "maintain" the windows to keep this from happening. Based on limited research of owner sites and industry publications, this problem IS not limited to fleetwood alone. It's a common issue among all class a motorhome owners of all makes. The motorhome manufacturer or the window manufacturer should have some responsibility for the safety of the motoring public. I send this to you as you may be aware of actions taken by the industry or you can possibly help with a resolution. *tr
I have a 2006 fleetwood providence rv. All of my stationary windows are "fogging up" which IS a nuisance in itself. however, my biggest concern IS the driver's side window. it IS so foggy I'm unable to clearly see my side rearview mirror. both times I've contacted fleetwood regarding this issue I was told there's nothing they can do about it. it IS definitely a safety issue that all of my fleetwood friends are concerned about. *tr
