I purchased a used 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost on April 3, 2026. Within days, the vehicle began making a hard clunk during initial acceleration and when stopping. It also hesitates before accelerating, especially while transitioning between electric and gasoline operation. At times, pressing the accelerator does not produce an immediate or predictable response. The problem is worse when accelerating uphill. This creates a collision risk when entering traffic, crossing intersections, merging, or driving uphill. The clunk can be heard and felt through the vehicle. There is also a loud, high-pitched whine that follows engine speed and certain gear transitions and can become extremely loud at highway speeds. On April 22, a Ford dealer confirmed the clunk during acceleration and stopping. The dealer found excessive movement in the rear leaf-spring and shackle bushings and replaced them, but the clunk and hesitation continued. On May 11, the dealer confirmed the high-pitched whine, traced it to the Hybrid Drive Unit, consulted Ford’s escalation team, and replaced the unit. The whining, clunking, shifting irregularities, and hesitation remained and have progressively worsened. Another Ford dealer later inspected the vehicle, but its road test was fewer than two miles, remained below approximately 30 mph, and did not include highway driving, uphill acceleration, merging, or entering traffic. The conditions causing the most serious symptoms were therefore not evaluated. Associated warning lights or messages are UNKNOWN. The vehicle is now parked because I no longer consider it safe to drive. It is available for inspection upon request.

I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2023 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly does not accelerate for up to 3 seconds while pressing the gas pedal, brakes either harshly or too soft at varying times, and very irregularly. This occurred while accelerating onto the highway, and almost every time I am braking at a stop sign or light, creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration, propulsion, or deceleration. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM flares, delayed engagement, unexpected gear changes, harsh downshifts, lurching, or loss of propulsion. This is a safety concern, not merely a transmission quality or reliability issue. Unexpected loss of propulsion or unpredictable shifting while merging, accelerating into traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, traveling at highway speeds, slowing down, and stopping, can create a collision hazard. Because I personally experienced this unexpected transmission event, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed.

I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2023 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly lost the selected gear, its slipped, shifted violently, RPMs flared, unexpectedly downshifted from 5th to 1st. So I took it in and they said it was my torque converter going out, and that it wasn’t something that they were aware of being a problem. This occurred when accelerating, merging onto a highway, turning, or just when driving straight. Creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2023 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly fails to engage then randomly shifts violently. This occurs when merging onto a highway, crossing an intersection, traveling at highway speed, stop-and-go traffic,creating a potentially dangerous drive. This is common issue with this type of transmission, mostly related to the drum itself; slipping thus causing its erratic behavior.

Vehicle came in for service and the gear selector lever on the steering column was found to be loose. Upon further inspection it was found that the two phillips head screws that hold the gear selector lever to the column assembly had come loose and one had fallen out completely.

The driver's side rear light is full of moisture and some water. It is available for inspection. The Ford dealership in Beeville Texas Coastal Bend Ford inspected it already and informed me that it would cost $1,400 to replace and that it was only going to get worse. They also informed me that Ford allows a certain percentage of moisture and water to be in there safely. When you see the pictures this is definitely unacceptable and unsafe. This is causing the reverse lights to flicker intermittent. The moisture accumulation inside the lights can result in inoperative or flickering reverse lamp function. Inoperative reverse lamps may reduce the awareness of other motorists or road users of the driver's intention to operate the vehicle in reverse gear increasing the risk of injury or crash. I bought the vehicle from a Ford dealership in Austin Texas less than 10 days ago. I reported it to them and they stated it wouldn't be covered under warranty. The best assessment in my opinion of cause is going to be microcracks in the outer lens. Because my truck is a 2023 Ford F-150 King Ranch, and there is a known recall for the same issue for 2022-2023 Lariat and Platinum models, so this can't be a coincidence. I have a 2023 f150 powerboost. I slowed down to a yielding sign to turn right onto the state highway. The engine was in electric mode, I went to push the acceleration pedal and nothing happened. The truck would not accelerate for 4-5 seconds. I then put the accelerator pedal to the floor and it finally engaged and the truck flew. I’ve had it happen once before but for only a second so I thought nothing of it. It was a scary experience as I could have been hit if another drive wasn’t paying attention. I’m scared to drive it now, and have made an appointment with the local ford dealership to diagnose. No engines lights are on. Only happens when stopping briefly.

The Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) on my 2023 Ford F-150 PowerBoost intermittently fails, triggering DTC P0A1E-00 and causing complete loss of electric drive mode during normal driving without warning. Vehicle continues running but with significantly reduced fuel efficiency until manually restarted. Fault occurrences are escalating in frequency: 9/13/2025 while running ProPower Onboard under medium load camping in the Everglades, 11/20/2025, then 3/3/2026, 3/6/2026, 3/10/2026, and 3/12/2026 — two occurrences within one hour during morning commute — seven total occurrences. All documented via Ford App push notifications. Sam Galloway Ford in Fort Myers, FL confirmed DTC P0A1E-00 on 3/4/2026. Repair estimated at $1,900 with part backordered minimum three months. I was charged $266.20 for the diagnostic. Ford Motor Company denied my warranty claim stating the part is not a hybrid unique component despite P0A1E-00 being a hybrid-specific fault code and Ford's own TSB 23-2279 covering this exact condition under warranty. I called Ford customer service 4 times 3/10/2026 and was told my claim ticket was closed on 3/4/2026, the same day I opened it without technical explanation. No one has returned my calls since and I was not provided written denial documents. A BBB complaint has been filed.

when i go to accelerate (not every time) (random times) from a near stop during a yielding situation, engine power hesitates to come back on. I've been nearly rear ended twice entering onto highways because of it. i have an appointment Friday with a dealership but they said that they may not be able to do anything for it...im reporting this because that is not acceptable behavior from a dealership. its a safety issue and its under warranty....FIX IT!! when this issue happens i can have the pedal full pressed and it takes several second for the engine to wake up from switching from electric to gas..(im only able to move 1 to 3 MPH)..or if i want it to snap out of it sooner i rapidly press the accelerator in and out multiple times....both ways eventually kicks the engine power back on lunging the truck forward.

I was in my driveway, I placed the vehicle in reverse backed out normally, when I put it into Drive I let go of the brakes, I did not press the accelerator pedal, and the truck instantly accelerated while in electric mode. The acceleration was so quick that I slammed the brakes and the tires gripped the ground but I could not stop it in time and I hit a cement pylon. That same day, later in the evening I noticed that my transmission temperature was reading cold even though i had been driving for over 40 minutes. The following day, in the morning I started the truck, put it in drive and it felt like the accelerator pedal would not work, after a couple seconds of me pressing on it to see if it would catch I felt propulsion from the truck and the accelerator was working again. I am scared to continue driving this truck because its a risk to my family and my safety. I attempted to contact Ford corporate and they want me to make a claim with my insurance, then take it to a dealer so they can "inspect it" Please help

The contact received a letter from the manufacturer that the parts for the recall repair were available. The contact was later informed that the parts might be available by November 2025. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

The wheel end hub bolt in the rear axle has broken which is what the recall is for. However, this happened 2 months ago and the dealership is telling me as well as the recall letter I received on August 25 from Ford, is saying it can be months before they get the part to fix it. They have had my truck since June 2025. I am making payments on the truck and can't drive it. The dealer has been accomading me with another truck but it is a base model truck, not equivalent to what I purchased.

The vehicle was taken to dealer where it was diagnosed that the bolts had sheared off and the rear axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

I was driving down the road going around 40 mph. No vehicles around me at all and no trees overhead when my sunroof suddenly exploded. No impact whatsoever occurred prior to the explosion, I just heard a loud boom, and glass started raining onto my sunroof liner. On 7/18/25 I picked up F-150 from being repaired (failed Belt Drive Generator/Starter Tensioner). About 3 hours later I was driving up a long grade at about 5,000 feet when I stopped to check on my cargo (a bicycle). At this point I noticed the cooling fans were running increasingly fast, much faster then they had ever run before. I checked the digital temperature gauge and it showed a normal temperature. I opened the hood and saw there was no coolant in the overflow bottle. I assumed the truck was just a bit low on coolant and I had some (5 liters) water with me so I added that to the overflow bottle. Very little water was visible in the overflow bottle. I replaced the cap, turned off the A/C and immediately headed back to the dealer. At no point did the check engine light come on. At no point did the temperature gauge move from the "normal" area. At no point did any warning message of any time appear on the driver display - unless it occured when I was refilling the overflow bottle. The engine was not operating normally however, the gas engine stayed on at all times and did not cycle on and off as it normally would do (truck is a hybrid). When I arrived at the dealer they attempted to fill the coolant system and said it was completely empty - no sign of the 5 liters of water I put into the system. The cause of the leak was identified as the EGHR system, specifically the plastic coolant inlet port. This failure is discussed in Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 24N04 - attached. This failure should not have occured. But when it DID occur the vehcile should have warned the driver that a serious overheating event was occuring. No MIL was set. No driver warners were made and the temperature gauge remained in the normal range at all times. The ONLY way I because aware of the problem was by noticing the increasing speed of the cooling fans. This could lead to fire, or unexpected engine failure or burns from overheated radiator.

This connection consists of braided flexible steel hose with crimped connections securing it to the hard line. All of the crimps on the flexible connection in that area are collecting dust build up, and have a wet appearance to them. When you touch them, you get an oily residue on your fingers. Yes it is available for inspection. If air enters the braking system where it is leaking, this will cause the brakes to become inoperable, due to air being more compressible than brake fluid. No it has not been inspected by the dealer. And it has not been confirmed by a dealer, I have not brought it to them yet. There has been no indication of the leak from within the vehicle, it is not dripping under neath. I only found it because I was checking the oil and inspecting other items at the same time. Noticed it around 28k miles

The check engine warning light was illuminated, with the message “Service Soon” displayed. The contact towed the vehicle to a dealer however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure, but the battery was replaced. On another occasion, the contact took the vehicle to a different dealer, and the engine block was replaced because it was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired after the most recent failure. The contact stated that the failure was now more frequent and occurred more whenever it rained. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20.

The contact stated while driving 65 MPH and taking his granddaughter to practice, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was shuddering while depressing the accelerator pedal to the floorboard; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact came to a stop on the highway and then pulled over. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and shifted into drive however, the vehicle failed to respond. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact to reach out to Roadside Assistance however, the contact was unable to get assistance. The Police Department was contacted, and a tow truck operator was contacted. The contact’s wife was able to pick up the granddaughter. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with rear axle failure. While the vehicle was at the dealer and shifted to park, the vehicle rolled backwards and was damaged. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,200. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Vehicle lost electrical power to multiple systems- Instrument cluster did not display any information- could not tell the speed of the vehicle, how much fuel was in the vehicle, gauges for coolant, oil, etc. were non-existent, did not have use of turn signals, hazard lights, blind spot indicators, did not have use of wipers, heating/cooling and defrost, could not tell what gear vehicle was in, could not tell what mode the vehicle was in. This made the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. There have been multiple electrical issues prior to this. All issues have been addressed by Ford dealer and supposedly fixed as of now.

- 10250306Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid engine, 2020-2023 Explorer vehicles equipped with a 3.3L hybrid engine and 2020-2023 Aviator vehicles equipped with a 3.0L hybrid engine may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0A1E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and auto start/stop disabled. This may be due to a loose wiring connection to the belt integrated starter generator (BISG). The Workshop Manual (WSM) has recently been updated to provide new direction for DTC P0A1E. Refer to the WSM, Section 303-06 Starting System, Diagnosis and Testing, Starting System for applicable diagnosis.

Engineering is aware of this condition and updated software will be loaded in the DCA8000P battery tester in September of 2023 allowing the tester to test the auxiliary battery and generate a battery approval code and diagnostic trouble code (DTC). Follow Workshop Manual (WSM) section 414-01 Battery Diagnosis and Testing to verify battery condition. If the auxiliary battery needs to be replaced a repair validation code (RVC) is not required at this time and should be replaced following the Warranty and Policy Manual standard claiming procedures.
